I sigh over the amount of problems that have appeared for the past few months. My employees and agents can barely even keep up and track down all of those traitors that abandoned their mission and decided to just roam wild or just stay in the world they are assigned to their mission and then cause havoc to their liking and the increase of HEROES is terrifying.
Then, one of my trusted assistants appeared in front of me while I was organizing the problems to deal with later.
"Sorry for intruding into your office, Administrator, but I have more news that you might wanna hear" my assistant then greets me then brings up a screen.
"...Alright what is it? Can't be worse than another bunch of traitors and HEROES destroying and conquering another stack of worlds?" While I look at the screen with boredom.
"Well for my first piece of news, as usual there was a 2.54% increase of our users and AGENTS siding with the traitors, and HEROES causing thousands of worlds to be now controlled by them." My assistant pauses for a bit before continuing.
"Secondly, we acquired new users that willingly accepted to join us, around 1.54 million users. Of course there were some accidents while they were being transferred," the assistant then brings up another screen, containing a graph.
"As you can see here, 90% out of the 1.54 million users went in without a problem, no physical injuries or side effects of entering. Then another 8% got minor injuries and slight small side effects of entering, like from headaches to heart attacks. Then there's the 1.9998% of the users that had severe injuries when entering or while entering, like having a limb broken or chopped off, being paralyzed, being burned with 3rd degree burns, and other major injuries, as usual we fixed them up but it's gonna take 45 minutes for them to recover," the assistant then sighs and goes silence for a few seconds.
"That's a lot more than usual, I mean the amount of users we got and also the injuries in terms of percentage," as I processed the information then realized that it's not a full 2%. I then get serious and start paying attention fully, questioning about it.
"So, I have a small question and concern," as my assistant gives a question mark.
"What's with the very weird percentage of not being a full 2% of major injuries? What's with that?"
"Oh yes, that's actually my last news for you. My team separated it as it needs your attention as we are confused on how this happens." Then my assistant gets rid of the graph and opens up information about a user.
"This is Oxaminite, a user that is a completionist but is a procrastinator, combined with the fact he has very weird common sense even with the standards of his species. Despite the slight negatives, he's got some positives: very good at adapting to different situations, quick thinking, fearless or according to his profile "you can't feel fear, if it fears you" whatever that means. But his ways of completing it are so bizarre and random it doesn't make any sense and somehow he has companions that like him or relate to his antics." The assistant lost their mind and composure.
"Sorry about that sir," I commanded my Assistant to calm down for a moment before I let them continue.
"Anyways, the reason why we brought him up is because of a major accident that brought him into our base." They then bring up another screen showing a recording.
"Rather than explaining, it's better if you show it," my assistant then plays the recording.
The recording shows the Bringers, operating the gadget that allows the user to safely travel through our base from their world. But, as the Director of this team of Bringers were about to safely bring Oxaminite in, a sudden millisecond malfunction occurred, causing the gadget to suddenly change from a portal to a spear. The Bringers didn't notice it, but their Director did. Of course the Director already gave the command to pull the user in and couldn't stop it, this of course forced the Director to quickly push the emergency stop button, but that just made it worse as the machine system got another sudden quick malfunction that made it go faster rather than slowing down and stopping. This of course made the Bringers and the Director bewildered and terrified, they then look at the screen that shows the user looking at the screen confused and off guard. This of course took for the worse as they got impaled in the head very quickly. After that, the automated system for the tool started to slowly pull in the user, and slowly appear outside of the transportation portal pad. What's worse is that, it seems that 2 people saw it and heard as they could hear voices coming out of another device which made the Bringers and Director panic even more as it's rare for users to have an audience when being brought in. The Director then quickly calms down and calls out a team of Bringers to secure the user and put them in a restoration room, and orders his team that was operating the tool to keep an eye out of the screen to see what the two users that saw the horrible accident will do." The recording then ends and my assistant closes that screen and gives a sign they are going to speak up, which I allow.
"As you can see, it's currently a mess, and the reason we are showing you this rather than us taking care of it like we usually do is because, one it's kinda our fault for the negligence, two there seems to be tinkering with our tools which is worrisome as a traitor could have caused this which would mean the HEROES ordered this to happen, three the user is in serious comatose state. Although we restored his brain, the system that hasn't been activated within him got corrupted causing him to no longer be able to upgrade himself or even access it. Lastly, the two users, which we found out were Oxaminite's companions, are willing to cooperate as long as they know what happened to him and what's going on." The assistant then takes a moment to clear themselves, and they talk a lot.
"From what I gathered, I am gonna need to intervene with the usual greeting and have to meet this specific user, and also come up with a way to satisfy and make cooperation with the outside companions?" I then looked at the Assistant with a calm look, but I think that just made them scared.
"Yes…Administrator- yo-you're correct on-that," as my Assistant stutters while attempting to be afraid.
"I am fine with that, plus this is an excuse to allow myself to get out of my office and not do my work, and it's been quite some time since I have personally talked to a user." I then get up and cleared my office and appeared near my Assistant.
"Alright, take me to the user Oxaminite, and also I already figure out what to do with him and his companions and the system problem,"
"Ok sir, I will now take you to the restoration room where Oxaminite is resting up," the assistant then gives a command and we immediately teleport to the room.
I then appear near the capsule where the user is being held and being restored.
"You can now leave, I'll take it from here," the Assistant then gives an ok gesture and teleports out.
Time to get this over with.
————Oxaminite's POV————
'Ugh…What the hell happened. I swear I was talking to my friends. Actually I think we were playing a game, I think it was called…Unnamed? Or something I don't know. Also why is it so dark? I mean I do have all my lights off when I go to sleep, but it never gets this dark.' Trying to remember what happened.
This book's true home is on another platform. Check it out there for the real experience.
'Hmm…Oh ya! I remember now, I got impaled in the head while waiting for my game to load in , no wonder I have a splitting headache. Still doesn't explain where the hell I am, but this does feel nice.' I then chill for a minute before I start getting bored
'Ok, this is boring I am just gonna get up now,' I try to move my arm and legs, realizing that I can't move.
'Oh right, I am not on a bed I am… on something? Wait, am I floating? Pretty cool if I am, I mean excluding the fact this feels like sleep paralysis,'I then just stared into the darkness, and decided to just think to myself.
'While I pass the time, I'll just sort out my memories,' I then start talking to myself.
I then start reorganizing the information and what I remember so far when being dragged into my PC screen.
'First things first, high chance I am inside the game and probably being waited to spawn in, but I woke up too early. Meaning, I didn't die or maybe I did. Second thing I noticed is that while I am suspended midair, I can hear very faint sounds around me. Sounding like machinery and… metallic footsteps? Probably robots… oh right the sci-fi genre, I forgot about that, makes more sense. Probably means this is taking place in the far future, and what I am in is probably some futuristic suspension container.
Hmm…wait I remember the fantasy and virtual reality genre, maybe I am in a simulation and am under a magical trance? Could be possible. Wait… didn't I get impaled in the head by some object? Did my wounds get healed? I mean that splitting headache is gone now, maybe I am being healed? Maybe that's why I don't feel blood running down my head into my face. I mean this is a sci-fi place, there's probably some futuristic technology that allows very precise and fast healing.
Oh ya, speaking of fantasy. Maybe I got that system window thing that most main characters get, when they get transmigrated or get isekai into another world or something, worth a shot.' I then cleared my throat and talked out loud.
"System window…" I waited and nothing happened.
"Uhhh, Status Window?" Nothing happens again.
"Welp that answers one of my questions, no RPG- status window thing—" I then get interrupted by a flash of light.
"AH CRAP! MY EYES!" I then closed my eyes to try to cover the bright light, it didn't make a difference.
"Sorry about that user, forgot that you don't have any light protection," the light then disappears and shows a humanoid robotic figure that is blue and purple with a very faint neon red outline.
"It's fine, I should have expected it since this is a futuristic sci-fi world," my eyesight slowly getting better.
"Huh, you already figured it out? My assistant wasn't kidding when they said you were able to adapt quickly," the robot then walks up to me and stares at me.
"I mean it's common sense, I can faintly hear metallic walking around me, me being levitated in the air, the genre it was described as, and of course you being a humanoid robot, although it's weird that you are shaped as a human, not some… I don't know a robotic sphere AI that controls everything and is displayed on a screen, while mocking me?" The humanoid robot looks surprised and weirded out by it.
"That's… inefficient and very outdated. Also, it isn't common sense for someone to just be calm and figure out where they are, most would be too terrified, cautious, or confused. Flight and fight instincts is what they call it," the robot makes a transparent screen out of nowhere.
"Ohh… Wish I had that. Was experimenting to see if I had that status window thing, every user has or whatever you call us," they then look up to me again with a concerned expression, I think?
"Actually… you were to suppose to have one but when you got impaled in the head, miraculously it hit the part where the system panel would be generated and be activated within your brain, and we can't actually rebuild the system back because of some technological limitations of right now and even if the system wasn't destroyed there's some weird anomaly that prevents us to see the true problem." The robot then shows me an X-ray of my head showing what it meant and I see some weird TV static within my head where I got hit.
"That's awfully disappointing, but I can work without it, despite not being able to not be able to gain extraordinary abilities," as I show a smile while try to not reveal my sadness.
"That's why I am here," the robotic figure then makes a sound and the room starts to slowly brighten up with the walls covered in with those transparent blue window panels that he spawns in.
"I am the Administrator, I control this entire transportation base. Usually the Bringers, Helpers, and the Instructors would be the first one to help you out and give you your status window and unique starting ability. But because of the unique circumstances I would be the one giving you the supposed status window system and unique starting ability. Of course since I control everything here and the one that makes the rules, I'll be doing things differently, because I am above the law" the administration then makes a fast hand gesture, that releases me from whatever that was and now being able to move my body.
"Well, you already know that I am known as Oxaminite, the usual internet user that plays games and goes through the internet to find something entertaining," I then I stick out a handshake and the Administrator shakes my hand.
"Anyways, I will now do the standard protocol and I improvise along the way," they then make another gesture and the screens in front of me fused and a video plays
What seems to be a video is actually an orientation as the logo appears and a text displaying Interdimensional Surveillance and Control Bureau (ISCB), with a white and red background.
["Welcome to the Interdimensional Surveillance and Control Bureau, or ISCB. Our mission is to maintain balance and ensure the integrity of countless worlds]"
["ISCB main purpose is to monitor, manage, and, if necessary, intervene in the affairs of multiple realities and worlds. Our mandate spans everything from high fantasy realms to cybernetic future dystopias."]
["That's where you come in! Users like you are going to become an AGENT also known as; Anomaly Grappling and Extradimensional Neutralization Taskforce. We picked you because you are carefully selected for your adaptability, resilience, and the ability to blend in with the countless worlds they may encounter.]"
["The ISCB: Where the unpredictable is a routine."]
The screen then turns black and they go back to being blue transparent windows.
"We really need to update that orientation video. Some of the information in that orientation is somewhat wrong. Instead of us being acting secretly and just observing, calling data. We now just maintain balance, ensure stability across worlds and eliminate HEROES," suddenly the Administrator becomes dark purple and blue with some electricity coming out of him.
"Woah woah, calm down there also why did you suddenly get angry when you mentioned the word Heroes?" I became intrigued by his reaction.
"Sorry about that…The Harbingers of Entropy, Ruin, Oppression, Exploitation, and Suffering, or what those hectic broken abominations like to call themselves HEROES, out of all the titles and acronyms they could have gone thru, they picked Heroes. Anyways, their purpose is to defeat so-called "evil" and free the people that live in those worlds. The issue is that they specifically pick users like you that have experienced extreme amounts of emotional trauma or physical trauma, are mentally insane, down right psychopaths and sociopaths, or are just ignorant and they cause chaos and have fun and aren't aware of the damage they are doing as they are being fed lies. You probably know them as MC or main characters, which they purposefully did to taint and corrupt even more users to join them. They are everywhere and will continue to grow." The Administrator stops talking for a bit and calms down.
"So… you guys kinda also do that? Also who are they or what are they? Also they seem different to the so-called "traitors" in the description I saw. " I am very intrigued, terrified and invested in this.
"Well, first off we did it first so they copied us, second off we picked stable people that have a stable life, strong mentality or are determined, and we actually ask to give consent to go here. If you were wondering about you being impaled and nearly dead by being brought here, that was a technological error and you were supposed to be pulled in slowly without injuries. For the "Traitors" they are users that used to be AGENTS, but either got pursued by the HEROES, turned into one while on a mission, or the group that are the reason HEROES exist in the first place were intrigued and decided to forcefully turn them into a HEROES." He then stops talking and makes another panel.
"Speaking of the cause for those HEROES to exist, the abominations of a group are called PANTHEON, for some reason they made their name very long we don't know why, fully known as: Progenitors of Anarchy, Nurturers of Turmoil, Harbingers of Entropy, Orchestrators of Nightmares." The Administrator was disgusted and annoyed when saying the name.
"Are they insecure or something, cause most villains usually make their titles short but these guys have very unnecessary long names. I mean look at the unnecessary acronym for their puppets, calling them "Heroes" or what not?" I tried to hold in my laughter but it decided to let out and he also chuckled.
"They probably are actually but they don't really care, but anyways now that I have filled you in with the important information let's actually get down to the fun part," the administrator then makes a quick gesture of him going up and down and making a circle.
Suddenly, the entire room changes immediately and millions of symbols cover the walls and the ceiling and floor are nowhere to be seen.
"Alright, let's start to do some actual business," the administrator then changes their clothes to a white and black three-piece suited suit with them wearing a glowing dark neon purple and blue necktie, while at the same time my cloths also change into a white and black suit but with a light purple and gray tie and a desk and chairs materializes in front of me.
"You may take a seat," the administrator then suddenly changes his tone to a more serious business type.
