Reboot: Chapter 24

I arrived at a place you couldn’t even call a brothel. More of an extravagant building with rooms designed to sell services. If not for the Prince’s guards stationed outside of the place, I might have turned around and walked away.

Tsk, I am embarrassed to say, I don’t wish to be caught dead in this place. It wasn’t due to the fact women were working. I am all for making the most out of the little resources you have at hand. No, it is because these men were the disgusting kind. Low rank barons, to disgusting Earls and Marquess offsprings.

I walked to a man who stood away from the crowd of horn mongers. His nose turnt up and his body leaned back when anybody walked within one meter of him. He must be the Prince man.

His shoulder slumped for a second before rising back up. His eyes gestured up and turned to the stairs, walking with a fair clip.

I motioned for my two guards to follow me and proceeded up the stairs. Dodging the male customers who were fixing their clothes with a faraway looked.

Mm, I wondered if they had already sullied her. Giving her bodily assets, I could totally get a refund. Pick someone with at least a round bottom and slight imposing chest. It doesn’t even have to be that big. Just a few meters or so of protrusion, maybe in class of B instead of A flat.

Top it off with a half decent personality. I can’t seem to find faults with my logic.

The man opened the door and stepped aside. I eagerly poked my head in but to my disappointment. Other than being a little bruised around the cheek and temple, she is fine. Her clothes were dirty and she sported a menacing look full of rage and fear, but she is ultimately fine.

Fine.

I clicked my tongue in disappointment and turned to the Prince who sat upon a desk eating a fruit. He had two companions off to the side playing with two girls openly. One of them, I recognize, the little assassin merchant girl, Kathleen.

I walked up to Kayla and lifted her chin. Sending healing energy into her body to fix the slight blemish and see if she had any internal damage. Which is what I would have done. Sadly, or well more to say, unfortunately, that is not the case.

Other than split knuckles and bruises on her legs, she is fine.

Completely fine.

I turned to the Prince because the man obviously wanted something. If someone had insulted me to my face in a very vulgar, self-righteous manner. I might have cut out their heart and cooked it while their brain was shutting down.

The Prince wiped his mouth and looked at me with a jolly big grin. “Join my fraction and I’ll forget about her sins.”

I took a glance at her and was just about to say that she would repay her sins, herself. We weren’t aligned but he interrupted before my mouth could open.

“Even if you are only engaged to be married. There are many witnesses who were around to hear her conveying how noble and sweet you are.” The Prince moved some stuff around on the desk, not bothering to look me in the eye.

Such balls.

“To be honest, we might not be capable of eliminating your family but you know as well as I do. That we can prevent you guys from seeking benefits within the kingdom. So I don’t need to threaten you, right?” He finally turned to look at me with gold rim eyes.

I sigh and look at Kayla whose head is buried into her chest. Her eyes were full of guilt towards me but hatred towards this guy. To be honest, I thought she was a level head merchant girl. I wondered what he could have possibly done to piss her off. But then all I had to do is glance around.

His subordinates were openly touching girls. Even if he didn’t do it, just being surrounded with that level of filth is more than enough to suggest that he probably did worse.

“I would be honored to pledge myself under your highness banner.” I spoke in a calm cheerful voice.

Even though what I am feeling right now is just a little on the other side. I mean, I couldn't necessarily fault her for being righteous but I could totally fault her for not being aware of the power difference.

Any of these two slobs could defeat her, so there is no point to go further and insult the one guy that had it easy. Ordering a commoner to be killed? What official would care? They are replaceable. Commoners are like dogs, throw them a bone and they’ll be happy. Soon they’ll mate and produce more dogs for you.

The Crown Prince nodded and waved his hand dismissing me. I could feel he wanted to discuss our mutual relationship but seeing my disdain for his friends. He spared me having to stand in their presence any longer.

I jerked my head at the door and turned around. Kayla's footsteps followed me a second later. Thuds of despair and regret. We walked in silence, heading towards my villa. I didn’t say a single thing until we got to my room and I slammed the door.

I pointed at a cushion and brought supplies I was working on yesterday to the table. I wanted to prep the materials needed to refine the Spatial artifact. I had everything but the spatial ore, itself.

I began creating a cane, soaking the dark ironblood wood in solution. While carving four ring dragon claws out of ivory.
