Chapter 252

CHAPTER 252

He was horrified and scared. His mind was blank, and he rushed to the hospital. He was worried sick.

Queenie was waiting outside the operating room, looking dejected. Damian was a sight for her sore eyes, and she ran toward him and threw herself into his arms. "I didn't mean it, Damian. Trust me!" She cried. "She started it. I was just defending myself!"

Damian let her hug him, but he was stiff. A long while later, he asked, "How is she doing?"

"No idea." She shook her head, still crying. "I'll be fine, right? I won't get jailed for this, will I? S-She bled like crazy."

She felt cold all over, and she was shivering. Isabel's the lady of the Taylors, and I hurt her so much, she had to be hospitalized. The Taylors will kill me! We just settled the problem with the Harts, and the only reason the Shrivers didn't force the divorce is because of Jay. The Harts might not care anymore, but the Shrivers will still have to pay a heavy price to get through this, and it's all my fault. They hate me already. They'll force the divorce if the Taylors come after them. I'll be finished.

She curled up in fear. Damian was angry, but he still loved her. The sight of her shivering in fear made his heart soften. "Sam is a reasonable man, right? Then tell him the truth. Tell him Isabel started this."

He held her chin up and looked at her. "And your bruises are proof that she was trying to kill you."

She moved away stiffly and looked down. She knew she must look ugly after the fight. They might have been married for years and had a kid, but she refused to let him see her in this state.

Damian sighed. "Call Sam and tell him about this. I don't want Isabel to do it before us. She might lie to

him."

Queenie was as white as a sheet of paper. "W-What if s-she's dead?" Her voice was trembling.

"No. You're overthinking it. She won't die that easily," Damian comforted her, though he was frowning. "All you did was kick her once, right?"

"Yes, yes!" She nodded in a hurry. "It was just a kick, and I only did it once."

"You're not Hercules, and you've never done any weight training. She wouldn't die from that kick," Damian said. "Listen to me and call Sam. Just tell him the truth. He's a reputable guy. I think he won't take Isabel's side, not when she started this."

Damian had seen Sam before thanks to Queenie. He thought Sam was one of the greatest men he had ever seen. He was just like the rich gentleman he read about in history books when he was a kid. He was reasonable, gentle, and radiated a kind of regality possessed only by old aristocratic families. His elegance stemmed from his soul and was impossible to imitate. Everyone trusted him instinctively. For some reason, he thought Sam was a fair gentleman who would not side with his family when they were at fault.

Queenie had no choice but to do as Damian said. She held her phone with a trembling hand, but she hesitated when she was about to call him. She started crying. "I-I wouldn't have even talked to Isabel if I knew this would happen. I-I only did it for the family. I don't even hate Madeline. I had no reason to insult her. I only did that to please Isabel. I hate her. I only played along with her because I wanted to help the family. I-I never thought this would happen."

She had no idea her son would cause so much trouble. She did not think that he would call the Hart

boys all the slurs he heard at home, and that her son would get into a fight with the Hart boys and upset their parents. Things got out of hand after that. She never planned to confront Madeline herself.

She thought playing along with Isabel and insulting Madeline and the boys behind their backs were fine. They wouldn't know about it, and I could please Isabel. Our families will get closer too, so no harm done, right? She had no idea her son would overhear their conversation and look down on Madeline and the boys because of that. I can't believe he called the boys b*stards right in front of them! Everyone else's kids make them proud, while mine is nothing but trouble.

Damian sighed. He assured her patiently, "I know you were just trying to help, but insulting someone is not the right way. It's too late for regrets though. Call Sam and tell him Isabel's hurt. The longer you drag this on, the worse it is for us."

Queenie was too terrified to call Sam, but she knew they could not keep this a secret. The Taylors would find out soon enough. She would rather tell Sam about it before news got to them first. Sam was the fairest soul among the family. She closed her eyes and steeled herself, then she called Sam's number.

The call went through a moment later. Sam said gently, "Hello, Sam speaking."

Queenie said nervously, "Sam, it's me, Queenie." She started crying right after that, but she told him what happened anyway. "You have to believe me, Sam. I was just defending myself. She slapped me like crazy. It was so, so painful. I had to fight back. All I did was kick her away, but then she fell and bled a lot. Please, believe me, Sam. I was just defending myself. I didn't mean to hurt her." Her voice was starting to crack.

"How's she doing?" Sam shot up from his chair, a chill running down his spine. His heart was racing.

He was disappointed in Isabel, but she was still his sister. The fact that she was in danger worried him.

She answered through hiccups, "She's still in the operating room." Copyright Nôv/el/Dra/ma.Org.

"Where are you? I'll be there right away!" He left the study as he spoke.

Sam rushed to the hospital Queenie told him. The doors to the operating room opened the moment he arrived, so he quickly went up to the doctor and asked, "How does she look, doctor?"

"The surgery is a success but…" The doctor sighed. "The patient's womb suffered excessive blood loss. We had to take it out. She suffered a miscarriage, and she's barren now."

"What?" Sam was petrified. "You mean she had a baby?" She's not married yet. No, she's still single! How did she even get pregnant?
