It was dark. The only thing that lit up the inside of the petite cottage was the moonlight seeping through the windows.
“Milady, relax! Push!”
A loud groan, followed by whimpering was heard.
"Sierra…” a deep voice sounded in the darkness. The moonlight seemed to shine even brighter and moved to illuminate the owner of the voice. With blood red horns protruding from the corners of his forehead stood a man. His body was enveloped in a dark aura and his skin pulsated purple light.
“I…. Kingston” came a pained voice, “I am fine”
The creature named Kingston seemed to bite his lips and seemed angry. But on a closer look, it was a face full of sorrow, “I told you, you don’t have to…”
“It’s fine” the voice came again and a terrible scream filled the air.
“Sierra!” Kingston rushed to the barely lit bed.
“Sir, please calm down” a girlish voice called out frantically.
“B-but” came Kingston’s flustered voice.
Soon heavy panting was heard. Followed by loud weeping, “I made it” came the barely audible weeping voice.
“Sierra…” came Kingston’s voice and he fell to his knees.
“Hehe” came the pained chuckle, “I told you, I can't die that easily”creaking of a bed was heard, “Lucy, light the candles”
“Yes, madam” came the kind voice.
The room was soon lit showing five figures in the room. Four women and an demon, Kingston. At the edges of the room lay lanterns and at the far right stood Kingston at the far left was a lady with long black hair and crystal blue eyes. She looked pale and drained and was holding a bloodied baby in her arms. The baby had tiny streaks of blonde hair and made no sound. Suddenly the purple on Kingston seemed to shine even further and envelope him and when the light disappeared, a man with deep green eyes and full head of long white hair was left there.
Kingston stepped forward and leaned over the bed and stared at the baby. Slowly the eyes on the baby opened revealing a beautiful pair of blue eyes.
“Girl…” Sierra said softly.
One of the ladies took the baby and went a bit further into the cottage then came back with a cleansed baby which she handed back to Sierra.
Kingston broke into a wide grin, “She has your eyes” then his face turned vile, “But this hair, which man…!” before he could finish what he was saying he was sent flying across the room.
“You!” Sierra gritted her teeth and clenched her fists threateningly , “If it was another man’s child, it wouldn’t be this hard and painful!”
Kingston rolled over to his bottom and scratched his head with a faint smile, “ha-ha, sorry”
Sierra smiled a bit then glanced at the child, “She didn’t cry”
“She’s bound to be different from others, Milady” the lady at the side of the bed spoke.
“I know, Angela, I know” Sierra smiled, “Name her?” She turned to Kingston.
“Eh?!” He seemed shocked at the offer and rushed forward to the bed staring the child in the eye, “Cute...” he said softly and touched her cheek.
At that, the child made a small noise and chuckled. His eyes widened, “She understands what I am saying”
“I know you like to joke, King but that is unbelievable” Sierra chuckled.
“Eh? Just now, I wasn’t joking but… hmm...name her Agnes” he said thoughtfully
“Why Agnes?”
“Because it sounds like a smart person’s name” Kingston said bluntly.
There was silence.
Sierra sighed, “I don’t know, when people see you they say you are scary but I don’t see it”
“Haha, that’s a good thing for you, right?” he chuckled.
Sierra lifted a hand to her cheek, “I guess so”
“So you are Agnes Marlston, okay?” He smiled at the tiny baby and played with her little ears that although subtle were pointy, “Just like an elf’s… huh? No gray streak”
“Huh?” came out of the elf, Lucy’s mouth as she moved closer to the bed, “how is that possible?”
The baby’s mouth opened but all that came out were gurgles. It was then that she burst into tears.
“Wha---” Kingston immediately became flustered.
Sierra cuddled the baby and began to feed her, “Calm down, Kingston”
Kingston put his hands which had been up in the air down by his side, he gave an awkward laugh “I was calm”
A light chuckle was heard right next to him. The girl who chuckled was very short with bulging muscles and the only way to identify her gender was the gown she wore. She however could be called handsome with a chiseled face.
Kingston flushed red at the sound of the dwarf girl laughing.
Sierra burst into laughter, “Agnes, your father is quite the character, don’t you think?”
The baby made no response clearly occupied with its drink.
She just smiled sweetly at the tiny bundle of joy that she never thought she’s have.
“Well, it is a good thing that she doesn’t have a gray streak, right?” Sierra said quietly and was answered with nods around the room. She stared at the baby’s face. Even if the baby occurred as a mistake because Kingston and her lost control after being apart for so long, the baby was still precious.
Although Sierra smiled outwardly, inwardly she felt saddened. She could imagine what her grandfather would do if he heard she gave birth to Kingston’s child. The conversation she had with him was still vivid:
“Grandfather, I don’t want to give this child up” She had pleaded.
“You dare to stand in front of me and tell me you will give birth to that demon’s child! By the God’s Sierra!” He had roared
“Grandfather, I already told you countless times that I love him!”
“Such insolent words! Lock this wench up for she knows no better!” He screamed.
Immediately guards rushed at her only to find themselves thrown back with great force.
“You!” he pointed at her fiercely, “I don’t know what kind of spell that demon lord used to bind you! But! Do you know what will happen to you if you give birth to a demon child?!!”
“Yes…” she had said and looked down at her stomach, “But grandfather, this child will become the proof of our love. Even if it takes my life, I want this child to be born”
“Sierra Lodwood. You speak heinous things against the house of Lodwood. Not once have we been tainted. You have the guts to destroy that?! That demon! He’s making you sacrifice your life for an offspring, how dare he?!” her grandfather screamed furiously but Sierra just shook her head.
“He already said that the moment the child becomes a threat to my life he’d kill it. But which father really wants to kill their own child or wants it dead? That’s why, I will give birth to the child. So that Kingston won’t have to go through any pain” Then she looked straight at her grandfather, “Plus it’s me. I won’t die that easily” She smiled and with a step backwards jumped out the window.

“W-What are you doing?!” She heard her grandfather’s outraged voice, “Go after her”
She bit her lip and continued to flee……………
Sierra peered once more into the face of her child and smiled softly and whispered, “You were so worth it”
Kingston upon hearing this chuckled and patted Agnes’ head, “Sorry, I was wrong”
At this, Sierra burst into laughter.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Mom!” came the voice of a child and a girl in cotton yellow dress and a grass hat came running into a cottage. She had blue eyes and blonde hair and looked around the room, “Papa, you look scary again” She noted fondly.
The guy with horns looked up and let out a small laugh, “I feel more relaxed like this…” he trailed off as his eyes met what the small child had in her hands. The creature smiled. To an outsider, this would have been very scary to look at, “Is that for your mom?”
Startled, the child hid the flower behind her back, “W-What is?”
Kingston burst into laughter, “Go on” he pointed to the door behind him.
The small child was all smiles and ran past him inside the door.
He looked outside the window and sighed, “5 years. Already in the month of Farahe, I hope things remain as tranquil as they are now” he stood up and transform into his human look then proceeded to the room.
He found Sierra on the bed chuckling with Agnes.
“Kingston” She said lovingly as she noticed him.
He smiled at her, “Agnes, go play with Lamia”
The child brightened up and dashed out of the room.
“She loves the dwarf” Sierra giggled then began to cough.
“Milady!” Lucy was shocked and dashed out to get some water.
Kingston looked at her and knelt down holding her hands in his large palms, “It’s my fault that you’re like this”
“What? My mana is coming back slowly already. I have 30% now”
“But it’s been 5 years!” he looked at her sharply.
She reached out and touched his head gently, “Of course, there would be consequences for giving birth to Agnes and I already knew that. Don’t worry. I lived, didn’t I?”
Kingston opened his mouth to say something but closed them immediately after and bowed his head with Sierra’s hand resting on it.
“I love you” he whispered and Sierra just smiled gently.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Master Lodwood, are you sure?”
“How many times do you want me to repeat myself, Lieutenant Coyole?!” The man called Lodwood bellowed. It was night and faces were illuminated by the torches. The men standing around were in armor and they moved stealthily with hushed whispers from time to time. The men seemed to number a hundred and were moving in the direction of a small cottage up the hill.
The man called Lodwood had dark circles under his eyes and age seemed to have caught up with him. He was in armor too and his deep blue eyes reflected the moon’s beauty.
“Yes…” the red haired man called Lieutenant Coyole replied, “but how do we get Ms. Sierra out of there?”
“We aren’t” Lodwood replied, his tone cold. Victor Lodwood had lived for a thousand plus years looking over his children. He had reached the rank of an Untouchable and was able to preserve his life for this long. Taking over when any of his lineage died and making sure that the lineage was pure but the demon lord, Marlston was trying to destroy it.
“Sir?! What do you mean by we aren’t? Ms. Sierra is your gran---“
“She’s not my granddaughter!” his thunderous voice shook the men and they turned to look at the now enraged Lodwood, “That thing ,that is being deceived and manipulated by that demon is not my daughter!. Besides, that thing shouldn’t be alive anymore, even if it is, don’t leave it alone. It defiles me and bears a demon child. By all means, kill that demon child” he grit his teeth as he spat those venomous words.
Many of the soldiers gulped deeply, happy, that they were not the receivers of such hate.
Lieutenant Coyole seemed lost for words and just ordered his men to pick up the pace.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kingston shot up from his knees as he had been there for hours. He glanced at Sierra whose eyes were filled with alarm.
“I know” her voice sounded worried, “where is Agnes?” She asked frantically.
Lamia burst in with Agnes gripping her hand, “Here Milady”
Sierra then made her way off the bed.
“What are you----?” Kingston began but she raised a hand to her lips and in a small voice told Lamia “get ready to flee”
At that, Agnes’ ears seemed to twitch and Lamia grip on her tightened, “Yes” she said with a resolute bow.
“Sierra...” Kingston began.
“To have had five years was more than I hoped for don’t you think so too?” she said quietly and stretched out her arm.
The maid elf looked downcast and place and silver laced robe in Sierra’s hands, “Angela, Lucy” She spoke firmly and threw on the robe, “You’ve both served me well”
At that their eyes widened, “Milady” They chorused.
“She tugged on the collar of the silver laced robe, “This is my last request Lamia. I hope you can honor it” she said solemnly.
“Yes!” Lamia said her voice audibly shaky.
Sierra turned to them and smiled then faced Kingston, “We are going to defend our child” she said firmly.
He looked at her for a while before smiling a little, “Die after me” he said solemnly.
She just kept on smiling then looked at the girls, “You all should prepare to leave”
“No!” They screamed and shook their heads furiously, “We chose to flee the Lodwood household to be here, Milady” Angela said softly.
Sierra shook her head, “This, we definitely won’t live through”
“We have devoted out lives to you Milady, what is better than serving you till death?!” Lucy said firmly.
“Death…” came a small voice. All of them turned to look at the small child.
“Get her out of here” Sierra mouthed.
Lamia tugged on Agnes’ hand but the girl wouldn’t move.
“Is mommy coming?” she asked quietly.
Sierra crouched and patted her head, “I’ll try my very best but… only if you go with Lamia?”
Agnes seemed to hesitate for a moment before nodding slowly.
Sierra smiled and watched her daughter leave through the back door.
She could now see torched coming up the hill and she sighed and with a wicked grin said, “Five years of being cooped up doing nothing hehe~, Time to fill my boredom” she strolled out majestically out the door and Kingston and the two girls followed suit.
