Chapter 442 No Longer Need It
Candy inquired with Wesley and found out that there were indeed several good properties for sale in the downtown area.
But they were very popular, so if Chloe wanted to buy one, she must act early.
"It's Saturday tomorrow. How about we go and check it out?" Candy asked.
Shaking her head, Chloe replied, "Not tomorrow. I'm going to visit my mother's grave tomorrow."
Candy nodded in understanding, saying, "Yeah, that is more important!"
Candy was still a little angry when Wendy was mentioned.
"Why didn't you ask me and Quinn help you with Wendy's funeral? How much could you handle by yourself?" said Candy.
Chloe knew that she had a sharp tongue but a soft heart. "There were not so many matters to deal with."
Wendy didn't have many friends, and she lost contact with them all after she fell ill.
So there were only family members at the funeral, not many of them.
It was really not complicated.
"Lucy and her mother won't come to cause trouble tomorrow, will they?" Candy asked.
She didn't want to see those two annoying people.
"Tiffany will be in jail at least for three years. As for Lucy, now that Michael and I are divorced, there's no one competing with her for the position of Mrs. Shawn. There's no need for her to come to mess with me," Chloe explained.
At her words, Candy felt relieved.
"Then I'll go with you to buy some fruit and cakes and visit Wendy's grave tomorrow," Candy suggested.
Wendy's grave was a bit far away. And due to the limited time available back then, Chloe could only buy a cemetery in the suburbs.
Fortunately, she had a car.
The following day, Chloe took Candy to the cemetery.
It was a newly developed cemetery and not many people were buried there.
It just so happened that Wendy liked quietness, so Chloe felt that it was a blessing in disguise.
But as soon as the two of them walked up, they saw the back of an uninvited guest.
"Why is he everywhere?" Candy complained with a frown, about to go forward and chase him away.
Chloe followed her, and they walked over together.
Michael heard footsteps and turned around to see Chloe carrying a lot of bags.
"I planned to pick you up," he said.
However, he was afraid that Chloe wouldn't be willing to ride in his car and would miss her chance to see Wendy. So, he didn't go in the end.
"Just admit you don't want to pick her up. What do you mean by saying you planned to? You can only say nice things," Candy sneered, crossing her arms and casting an unhappy gaze towards Michael. "What are you doing here?" Chloe asked.
Chloe put down all the flowers and offerings in her hands and packed up the things that Michael had brought.
She didn't want Wendy to feel upset after seeing things sent by him.
Michael felt a little sad as he watched her packing the things.
"As Wendy's son-in-law, of course, I have to come and see her," Michael explained.
It was too late to say those nice things.
"Do you need me to remind you again that we are divorced? You're no longer her son-in-law."
In the three years since their marriage, he had visited Wendy only a few times.
Now, he was pretending to be a caring son-in-law. holds this content.
He was always not by her side when Chloe needed him.
Now that she no longer needed him, he came.
"Chloe, we were still married when Wendy passed away. I just wanted to see her off according to etiquette," Michael said.
"Michael, if you really want Wendy to rest in peace, you shouldn't have come. Do you want Wendy to see the man who mistreated her daughter for three years come to visit her? Are you really not afraid of upsetting her?" Candy questioned.
Chloe tugged at Candy's arm.
This was in front of Wendy's grave, and Chloe didn't want to disturb her.
After Candy shut up, Chloe looked at Michael. "It's too late, Michael. In the past three years, I have imagined countless times that you would stay by my side and make my mom happy, but now, I no longer need it."
Chloe handed the plastic bag in her hand to him, which contained all the things he had brought, and said, "Take these back,"
"If you don't want to see me, I can leave, but these are my gifts to Wendy..."
"Okay, I'll take them. You can go."
Chloe put the things back almost instantly, just wanting to get him out of there quickly.
