"Mr. Lovato said that if you give birth to this child, he'll give you a billion dollars. If you're willing, he'll even marry you. When he dies, the remaining estate will all be yours." Lucy stared in shock at the man in front of her, unable to believe what she was hearing. She couldn't comprehend why Abel was so fixated on the child she was carrying.
"Lucy, don't make a mistake you'll regret for the rest of your life. Get rid of the child, and I'll take you abroad. We can start over and leave all of this behind!"Property © 2024 N0(v)elDrama.Org.
Owen pleaded with Lucy, not wanting her to make a rash decision that would haunt her forever.
He knew that if the child was born, her entire life would be irrevocably changed.
But Lucy didn't even look at him; she was lost in thought.
"Did he really say that?"
The bodyguards nodded.
"I'll agree, but you need to put it in writing!"
Owen looked at Lucy, his face full of shock and disbelief.
"Lucy, have you lost your mind? Do you even realize what you're saying?"
"My life is none of your concern!"
Lucy had come this far, and there was no way she would turn back now.
Owen felt that she had truly lost herself. He wanted to snap her out of it, but he didn't know how.
One of the bodyguards stepped outside to call Abel. After receiving confirmation, he returned and said, "Mr. Lovato agreed. The contract will be delivered shortly."
Realizing it wasn't appropriate for them to stay in the hospital room, the men left after relaying the message.
Once again, only Lucy and Owen remained in the room.
"Lucy, I'm begging you, don't gamble with your life like this. Do you realize that he's old enough to be your father? And you don't even know who the father of this child is. What if something goes wrong after the baby is born?" Lucy glared at him, her eyes full of hatred, as if he were her sworn enemy.
"You just don't want me to be with Michael! Have you been bought off by Chloe too? I'm telling you, it's impossible. I will never give up on Michael!"
Lucy hadn't always been this obsessed. There was a time when she had even considered being with Owen.
So now, Owen couldn't understand why she was suddenly so fixated on Michael again.
But this was the woman he had loved for so many years, since their school days, and still to this day.
Despite all the wrong she had done, he couldn't help but care for her.
The entire world might abandon her, but he didn't want to be the one to do so as well.
"Lucy, please, be reasonable. Michael doesn't have those feelings for you. Promise me, let's terminate the pregnancy now, and I'll take you abroad. We'll start a new life, and you'll gradually forget about Michael." After speaking, Owen moved to leave the room to find a doctor.
But as he was about to step out, Lucy yanked at the IV needle in her arm with alarming force. "Don't you dare! If you go, I'll die right here, right now!"
She had already attempted suicide once, and her body was still weak.
If she ripped the needle out, her body wouldn't be able to handle the shock.
Owen, terrified by her actions, froze in his tracks. "Okay, okay, I won't go. Just let go of the needle, Lucy. Please, I'm not going anywhere!"
Seeing that he was sincere, Lucy finally released her grip on the needle.
Owen, drenched in cold sweat, had no choice but to stay in the room with her. He opened his mouth several times, trying to say something, but in the end, he remained silent.
He had already said everything that needed to be said. Now, there was nothing left for him to offer.
"Could you call Michael for me? I want to hear his voice."
The request left Owen momentarily paralyzed, feeling as if his heart had been shattered.
