I was excited  as tomorrow was the day  I will be able to awaken my talent  as I am turning 12 and will be able to awaken my talent, every child can awaken talent at their 12 birthday I have seen it many times in orphanage,

Matron of Sun orphanage was bitch of old women she will take her frustration with unremarkable talent on these children, I have seen those who gained talent leave an orphanage on that day itself , other than the talent, children on their 12th birthday also unlock their status , so I was excited to live this hell hole behind.

I was hoping to get talent related to combat as my dream is to become an adventurer, no matter what I awaken I have already decided I will become an adventurer, it would be cool if I can awaken legendary level of talent but likely won't , those with legendary talent are monsters not only they have ridiculously powerful talent their base stats are also crazy high and their growth rate is also very high, when it comes to categorising talents scholars generally categories them into common, rare, unique and legendary.

I am already prepared to leave the orphanage tomorrow, I have been doing  odd Jobs here and there since I was 6, so  I have saved up quite a bit too, so I can survive until I can earn a stable income as an Adventurer. 

If you're asking how I know all this I have worked in the library for some time and was able to read all kinds of things due librarians generosity so all things I learned were thanks to him.

While I was musing over my future I closed my hopefully last time in this unpleasant place.

When I woke up that day I somehow knew how to access my status.

 I was extremely surprised by the information  I was seeing in the, average strength of 12 yrs old is between 20-30 so I was average in that department, average agility is also same with 20-30, generally average vitality is 20-40 so I was on lower end of average in that department, but other than that Average HP and MP are between 100-110 and 150-200 respectively so I have quite great MP reserves when compared to average child of my age, average intelligence is also between 50-100 range so I was quite bit higher than most children my age in that department, even my wisdom state was higher than average of 20. I deeply analysed everything on my status, it seems my stats are more suitable for being mage than front line fighter, so it seems I would need to study magic deeply, the amount of money wasnt enough for me to buy many books on it but I knew basics on how to improve them and I already have skills for both water and fire magic, I could already do this two types of magic before today so I wasn't surprised by it, but before today I wasn't able to form any type of attack spell with it, so I will need to sustain myself on swordsmanship .

Honestly speaking speaking I was happy so happy that I could dance in Joy, but I controlled myself I have to pretend I have common talent to get away from here otherwise this bitch of matron wouldn't even budge before selling me to slave merchant. She is just that disgusting, I have known about it since I was 6 when I heard matron and Slave merchant talk about it she didn't have even hint of guilt in her before selling particular beautiful girl to him. After which I had decided I could escape this place earlier as possible, and that day is today.

I sighed to clear my mind, she(matron) could be here at any moment now so I got up and wiped my body with wet cloth and got dressed all children other then me woke up after I was done, I left common room were I met with my only friend Tanya was girl 2 years younger than me so she still doesn't have her status, not lot of children stay after they unlock their status so what I was doing wasn't uncommon in this orphanage.

"Tanya I will be leaving today I will come to pick you up after I earn enough to support both of us."

I said in low tone as to avoid others hearing about it, I have already told her about true face of matron we have done many things to stay unremarkable as possible, we have gradually tanned our skin even after matrons punishing us, in this country dark skin isn't seen as attractive colour, so this is best way to make yourself safe from slave traders, tanya is also earning money for herself so she could be able to support herself for about week or two but I don't think that much time is enough for me to find stable ground in adventurer's guild.

 While I was musing over such things I heard sobs it was coming from tanya she was strong and intelligent girl for her age so I have never seen her cry.

"Do you promise you won't leave me here?"

She asked between sobs, I nodded.

"I promise it may take month or two but  I should be able to become D-rank adventurer in two months time after which I could come and we will start our life in new city.'

I muttered this in her year , I was also sad that I have to leave her in such dangerous place alone but it was extremely important for our future I packed my rag which had two set of clothes and underwear though they weren't in best of shapes. 

After I was done packing and eating some fruits I approached Matrons room, it was lavish room as opposed to our room which leak in rainy season I knocked twice.

"Come in" I heard gruf voice, I entered seeing women in her middle age with an expensive looking necklace around her neck, I could only seeth in rage, as we barely get to eat 1 meal a day and she is spending orphanages funding on something so useless, I could only swallow my anger.

"Madam Marcelle I would be leaving today."

I said politely as possible she looked over to me with frown as if trying to remember me.

"So what type of talent did you awaken."

She asked gruffly, I wasn't surprised in the slightest she wasn't women who care for what was norm outside people only shared their talents with their family so this woman who was public enemy number one for children of this. orphanage did not have qualification to ask about our talents. 

"It's basic swordsmanship talent."

I replied promptly as to not give any time to spot my lie.

"I see"

She looked at me in distain, I understood that basic swordsmanship talent is common level talent in combat talent system so it was not average, she promptly shoed me away I was glad I could be able to leave from here without rousing her suspicion, with new found determination I left orphanage grounds towards this city Adventurer guild branch.
