Also, just as a general note for the future of the novel, Akira's character will definitely develop and become more involved in the plot, especially as more of the weaker students get expelled. There'll be plenty of conflict between him and the upper caste, especially Hiroto later on. His apathy is somewhat built into his character at the moment, but it'll definitely develop as the story progresses.
