Chapter 30 - Insurance

Chapter 30 - Insurance

[Sumire POV]

“So, are you going to compensate me for my time, Giselle?”

“Don’t be stingy. I’ll give you some Points in return, that’s fine right?”

“Aha, why’d you call me over in the first place?”

“Just for some insurance.”

We were making our way toward one of the rooms in the girls’ dormitory. I guess Giselle had gathered enough information to make a move now.

“Kamura’s girlfriend stays here. She’s our best bet to lure him out.”

Making our way over, I stood a little distance away as Giselle knocked on the door. It took quite a few moments, but eventually, the door slid open.

“Who are you?”

“I’m just here to have a chat,” Giselle responded

“What is this about?”

“Nothing in particular. We want to form a group with you, girls taking care of each other. How does that sound?”

“Sorry, I’m already committed.”

Isn’t that cute~

I guess true love does exist.

Giselle smiled.

“Alright, can you call over who your boss is, so I can see if they’ll let us join?”

“Um, if you just tell me your names, I can ask him later.”

“What’s that about? You’re just one of his followers. What’s to say he’ll listen to you? I want to talk with him face-to-face.”

“W-well, he’s my boyfriend. So I’m sure I can talk with him about it.”

Giselle laughed, grabbing the girl’s arm. The girl tried to pull away but she strengthened her grip. Aren’t you a forceful one, Giselle~?

“W-what are you doing?”

“Why are you afraid of calling your own boyfriend over?”

“What? No, that’s not—”

Giselle trailed her finger up the girl’s arm. She shivered a little before pushing Giselle away.

Using physical sensations to drive discomfort, Giselle.

“What are you trying to do? Why are you touching me?”

“I’m just waiting for you to call your boyfriend down.”

“Why should I? Who even are you?”

“I’m Giselle, and don’t worry, you don’t need to introduce yourself, Sara.”

“How do you know me?”

“I just do~”

Sara took a few steps back and shuffled behind her door. It was pretty clear that she was beginning to get uncomfortable with the exchange, which was exactly what Giselle was trying to cause. Eventually, she’d likely call her boyfriend, Kamura Tsukamichi, over.

Using the door as some physical cover, she continued to talk.

“Why do you want to join me so much? What’s special about me?”

“All I’ll say is that it’s something very dear to me.”

Sara thought for a little while.

“Fine, I’ll get Kamura to come down. But I’m not going to guarantee anything for you.”

“That’s fine with me~”

*

“Who are you guys?”

Kamura Tsukamichi—the 77th-ranked student arrived in the girls’ section of the dormitory. With a somewhat unpleasant expression, he looked at me, before walking to Giselle.

“I’ve been looking for you, Kamura~”

“What? I don’t know who you are.”

“Can you let us into your posse?”

He appeared suspicious.

“Show me your rank.”

Giselle swiftly chucked her phone through the air. Taken off-guard, Kamura fumbled a little before catching the phone in his palm.

“Caste two…?! So you’re smarter than you look, it seems.”

“That’s not a very nice way to frame it.”

“Well, if joining me is what you want, I’d be happy to let you,” he then turned to me, “How about you?”

I showed him my phone.

There was a reason why I transferred all my Points to Akira, after all.

POINTS

Your current points: 2,195

Current Rank: #74,184

“Don’t worry, I’m not interested in joining your group right now.”

He sighed before turning back to Giselle.

“So, is that all you wanted? If that’s so, I’ll be on my way now.”

“Hold on there.”

“What do you want now?”

Sara stepped out from behind the door and stood beside Kamura. It was like a mother cat protecting her kittens, or maybe a jealous girl showing us what was hers.

Kamura looked at Giselle with annoyance.

“That Sara is your girlfriend, right?”

“Yes, and I love her. Don’t try anything.”

“Of course not. I’ve just got one question for you, why would you like someone like her?”

“What are you saying, she’s an amazing person. The perfect girlfriend.”

Sara smiled a little, but Giselle wasn’t done.

“You say that, but it’s pretty clear you’ve been talking to a lot of girls recently. You’ve been neglecting Sara, haven’t you?”

“What? I’ve just been busier with normal stuff. You don’t understand what it takes to manage a team in caste one.”

“Yeah yeah. Whatever you say. But I know that deep down, you think that you can do better, isn’t that right?”

Kamura’s eyes darkened.

“No, that’s not even close to the truth. No one is better than Sara.”

However, it seemed that Giselle’s words were enough to make Sara a little concerned, as she grabbed onto her boyfriend’s arm. She looked up at him, with eyes that still showed determination.

Maybe the bond was weaker than I thought.

“Don’t lie to me, Kamura. I know you better than anyone. I know you started dating her when you guys were in the same caste, and now you’re in a much higher caste.”

“That has nothing to do with anything.”

“They all say that, don’t they? Fine, why don’t you put your money where your mouth is.”

Kamura pulled his girlfriend back.

Giselle smiled a little before continuing.

“Let’s have a duel. Just for fun. If you really love her, beating a weak little girl like me would be no problem, right? Or has your heart softened since the days you were in the top 10.”

“Are you trying to bait me?”

“You can take it however you like,” Giselle looked directly into Sara’s eyes, “but your girlfriend here probably wants some insurance.”

“How is this duel relevant at all.”

“You’ve been losing a lot recently, isn’t that because you’ve been going easy on girls? You’ve always been an overly-kind person.”

“No! That’s absolute nonsense. My kindness doesn’t go that far.”

“Alright then, prove it.”

Aha, this was starting to get interesting. In a place like this, sometimes even kindness can backfire.
