Chapter 26 - Battery Minion

[Battery Minion]

Fuel: 0%

Inventory: 0x Batteries

Recharge Minions: 0

[Base]: 1% Charge per Hour

You may purchase [Recharge Minions] for 150 Points each in order to increase the speed of recharge. Once the {Fuel} gauge reaches 100%, you may convert it to 100 Points, 1 [Recharge Minion] or receive 1x Battery.

Batteries can be given to other minions to increase their production rate.

Now this was something that could be utilised.

There was a reason why even the students in caste one didn’t seem that much physically stronger than any other, aside from slightly better abilities.

“That is very interesting,” commented Sumire.

“Yeah.”

She looked down at her phone.

“Anyways, I’ll be back in a little while. I need to talk with someone.”

That was fine with me.

I didn’t talk to Sumire about the [Affinity Minion], but I did notice something during my duel against Kamura. With my new [Battery Minion], it was a good time for me to invest in it—the school’s secret weapon.

The school’s goal was to create ‘humanity’s strongest warrior’, but that would be impossible unless they could give us a way to increase our physical attributes. Even other military schools around the galaxy have manufactured ways to increase them a little, but that has always been the biggest problem for the entire world.

After all, the world can only manufacture abilities so unique that were still theoretically possible within their technology.

However, if there was a way to increase the strength of an ability, that would change everything.

[Affinity Minion]

Inventory: 0x Affinity Tokens

[Base]: 1x Affinity Token per month

Upon using an [Affinity Token], there is a very small chance that your {Personal Ability} will evolve. Every student can only use the Affinity Tokens they produce, no one else’s.

(Max 1 per person)

As far as I could tell, there were only two ways to boost it—using the [Mining Minion] or the new [Battery Minion]. However, it was pretty clear that the [Battery Minion] was more efficient right now, especially in the short term.

I spent a large portion of my Points. Time is just as important of a currency as Points were.

Worst case scenario, I could always just use a {Rank Challenge} to avoid expulsion.

Some time passed and I was making my way toward the math class that I’d been attending the past few days.

There were enough seats in the lecture hall such that no one had to sit next to me. Occasionally, I’d get the random student who would sit beside me just out of convenience—not that it really bothered me either way, I just wanted to pass the time and listen to the lesson.

They weren’t too helpful, but it was better than doing nothing all day.

Walking to my usual seat, I saw that someone was sitting right next to it. They were tall, muscular and had quite an attractive disposition, if I was to describe it literally. With the appearance of a high-school jock, you’d be able to imagine his looks.

I decided to leave a gap between his seat and mine, just as a polite gesture.

However, as I settled into my new seat, he got up and moved to the one next to mine.

Ah, this was going to be a hassle.

“Don’t ignore me. I know you know what this is about,” he whispered.

“What do you mean?”

“Akira, you’re clearly much smarter than my lackeys. Though, I’m not surprised. In fact, I expected that from you.”

I guess ignoring him wasn’t going to work.

“What do you want from me.”

He took out a contract.

“I removed everything related to Points. Akira, join me. I’ll pull you right up to caste one alongside me. You’d be my right-hand man.”

“I’m not really interested.”

He sighed, laying his arms on the back of the seat.

“Alright. What would you need for you to join me? Points? Girls? Your own private office?”

“I wouldn’t be a good fit for you. I’m not as smart as you think I am. You’d be better off asking someone else. I’m in the lowest caste right now.”

He straightened his posture.

“If that’s so, how did you find both of my [Scanners]? You clearly made several deductions to know where they were.”

“It was just luck. I didn’t even find the first one I saw, a friend showed it to me.”

The teacher’s footsteps echoed through the hall. Class was scheduled to start in a few minutes, so he’d eventually have to stop talking. Although, it was probably going to be pretty awkward sitting next to him all lesson.

Maybe I’ll just go back to my room.

“Akira, there’s no point trying to convince me of who you aren’t. I have proof that you’re smarter than you seem. Now, can we skip this… whole thing?”

He circled his hands, gesturing that he’d already seen through my facade.

Sigh.

“I’m not interested. I also won’t tell anyone about your ability, is that good enough?”

“No, Akira, I want you on my side.”

“Your bad side?”

“What?”

Maybe that was a badly timed joke.

He breathed out, quite deliberately.

“I don’t want to waste our time here. I’ll offer you 100,000 Points right now if you join me—along with anything else you want.”

“Kai, that’s your name, right? I don’t think you get it at all.”
