Chapter 1 - Hanz, The Farmer Boy

Chapter 1 - Hanz, The Farmer Boy

The afternoon sun shone brightly but the farmer at Milik village was working hard as usual. In a small radish farm at the village, a young boy who was about 17 to 18 years old was as hardworking as everybody else in the village.

With a small straw hat on his head, he was crouching in front of a healthy radish plucking the grass that might hinder the growth of the radish. Sweat flowed down on his face passing through his beautifully defined jawline.

Hanz used the small towel hanging on his neck and wiped his sweat away. He raised his head and glanced at the sky for a second. The sunlight fell on his face and Hanz smiled. Even with some dirt on his face, Hanz was as good looking as usual with his slightly tanned skin and short brown hair… based on the village standard.

“I need to finish this fast and prepare our lunch,” said Hanz while moving his hand to cover his eyes from the sunlight. While Hanz was looking at the sky, a few girls in the village were passing through the radish farm.

The girls were staring at Hanz for a while and could not help but blush. Out of many boys around the same age as Hanz in the village, he was the most handsome, masculine, and nicest boy. All the girls in the village were attracted to him but Hanz never once treated them more than a friend.

Due to that, the girls in the village made a rule that no one should ever try to hook up with him unless Hanz himself made the move. However, they all knew that Hanz was not interested at all in them.

“It is a bit hot today,” Hanz started flapping his t-shirt to get some wind and while doing that, his beautifully defined abs were shown for a few moments. Hanz did not realize that the girls were watching. If he saw them at that moment, he would certainly try to stay away from them.

The girls’ mouth was opened wide and some of them even started drooling. It was not surprising that they had that kind of reaction because they were at the age where they should get married. So, they were quite hungry in that part.

Not only the girls but the boys were in the same situation. If a beautiful and sexy girl were around, they would have the same reaction. Hanz was not an exception but he had more self-restrained than others.

In Beazion, the age of marriage was between 18 years old to 22 years old. Passing that age, the boys and girls would lose their market. They were considered old. So, for those that could not find the love of their life during that age would usually ask for their parents to matchmake them.

Before they could find the man or the woman they loved, most of them would usually satisfy their desires with an attractive or beautiful man and woman. Not all of them were like that but most of them did that. Hanz was not one of them.

Two of the girls that were staring at Hanz had a fiancé so they were not drooling. The one that drooled were the single girls. “If I ask him, do you think he wants to do it with me?” One of the girls said and the others immediately looked at her.

“Remember the rule. THE RULE!” One of them reminded her and the girl that said that felt chill on her back. “Besides, even if you ask him, we all know the answer. Hanz is too nice and pure,” said the same girl mentioning the rule earlier.

“I wonder which girl will get him,” said one of them. “If I remember correctly, grandpa Juin does not even try to find him a partner. With Hanz personality, I bet that he will pass the age before he can get married.”

“Talking about grandpa Juin, yesterday I overheard the village chief talking to my parents about him leaving.”

“Hanz and grandpa Juin is leaving?” They were shocked. If Hanz left the village, there would be no handsome boy they could use to cleanse their eyes.

“Not Hanz but grandpa Juin.”

“If grandpa Juin is leaving, obviously Hanz will follow him too. You know how much Hanz loves grandpa Juin.”

“Well… I am not sure about that but the village chief clearly said that grandpa Juin is leaving alone and asks him to take care of Hanz.”

“Is there some problem between them?”

“I saw them yesterday and they were as happy as usual. I doubt that grandpa Juin is leaving because there are problems between them.”

“Could it be that he cannot stand taking care of Hanz anymore. You know that Hanz was adopted by him.”

“Eyy~ no way. Grandpa Juin is not that kind of person. If he really does that, I am more than happy to take care of Hanz.”

“What! No way! Hanz is mine. I will be the one to take care of him.”

“Hah! I am more capable than you. So, he will be mine.”

The narrative has been illicitly obtained; should you discover it on Amazon, report the violation.

“Ugh! You are going to get married soon, so, piss off!” the girls started fighting among themselves to determine who would get Hanz without even asking Hanz’s permission. They deviated from their earlier conversations.

“What is the commotion?” Hanz heard their loud voices and looked at the girls’ direction. He saw the girls fighting and heard some words they were shouting and he smiled weirdly.

“Am I really that attractive that they are fighting?” Hanz heard they were shouting ‘Hanz is mine’ and he could guess what happened. He felt a bit awkward because that was the first time Hanz saw the village girls fighting that hard because of him.

He did not want to get involved with them and thus, he left the field towards a small wooden house at the end of the farm. That wooden house belonged to him and grandpa Juin.

Beside the house, there was a huge tree. Under the tree, an old man sat on a rocking chair reading a newspaper while smoking cigarettes. The old man had full white hair and a long white beard. He looked old too.

He had the nice old man face and true to that, he was widely known in the village to be a nice person. Due to this personality, he adopted Hanz when he found Hanz in the forest nearby. He raised Hanz since he was a baby and many people in the village knew how much Juin loved Hanz.

He gave Hanz a lot of love and educated him properly so that Hanz would be a good person. Juin used to work in the field too but he stopped doing that a few years ago because he had not much energy left to do fieldwork.

Since then, Hanz was the one that tended the field. He had been learning to farm since he was a child and thus, he did not have any hard time farming. Due to doing hard work for the past few years added with exercising every day, Hanz managed to get that kind of toned muscle and thus became the hot guy in the village.

He did not used to be that attractive before. He was cute and handsome before too but after he started doing farm work seriously, the charm that he had before multiplied and that was when he started getting that much attention from the girls.

Hanz walked towards Juin and once he got closer, he asked while smiling, “Grandpa, what do you want to eat for lunch?”

“Ho, ho, ho, anything is fine. Just cook whatever is convenient,” said Juin. Hanz already knew that would be Juin’s reply but he still asked the question because he wanted to. After asking that, he went inside and started making lunch.

The day went on as usual. After lunch, Hanz would go back to the radish farm and continue working while Juin would stay under the tree on his rocking chair. After the sunset, Hanz went back home and prepared dinner.

While they were having dinner, Hanz felt like the atmosphere was a bit different that night. Hanz and Juin were talking to each other as usual but from their conversations Hanz realized that Juin would always insert some advice and precaution Hanz should take in life.

Not that Juin never did that but he gave too much advice that night. “Why is grandpa talking too much today?” Hanz wondered when he was washing the dishes. After that, he got out of his house and went to the back of the house.

He started doing his daily exercise. Hanz’s family was not well off and they had just enough for themselves. The farm field that grandpa Juin had was not big but it was enough for both of them. So, Hanz did not exercise using premade equipment but simple exercises such as push-ups, squats, and many other exercises that could be done without any equipment.

He did it early in the morning and night every day without missing it once. He had that nicely toned body because he exercised a lot. However, that night, Hanz could not focus while exercising. What happened during dinner was still on his mind.

After he finished his exercise, he went back inside and took a nice bath. Even while doing that, his mind was still thinking about what happened earlier. Once he finished his bath, he went to his room and lay on his bed.

He was staring at the ceiling and his mind wandered around thinking about what happened earlier. No matter how much he tried to not mind that, he would always think of that. Hanz tried to force himself to sleep but he could not.

Even so, thanks to the fatigue he got from working at the farm, he fell asleep automatically a few hours later.

“Where is this?” Hanz stared at his surroundings. Everything around him was dark. He did not know what happened but once he opened his eyes earlier, he was inside the dark space.

“Hanz,” a voice reverberated in the dark space shocking Hanz and he looked around to see a bright white light 100 meters away from him. Hanz stared at the white light and he could see that a figure was inside that light.

Upon looking carefully, he saw an old man he was too familiar with in his life, grandpa Juin. “Grandpa? Where are we right now?” Hanz asked Juin. He should feel panic but Hanz did not know why he felt so calm.

“Hanz, I am leaving. In the future, we might see each other again,” said Juin while smiling and Hanz was shocked.

“What do you mean grandpa? Leaving? Why are you leaving? Where are you going?” Hanz asked. If before he felt calm, now, he panicked for real. Upon hearing that Juin would leave him, Hanz shook.

The only family he had in his life was leaving him. The person that he loved the most in the world was leaving him. However, when he was asking Juin’s reason for leaving, Juin’s figure was getting further and further away from him.

Hanz tried to chase after Juin but he could not move his body forward in the dark space. He stretched his arm trying to reach Juin but Juin was too far away from him. Hanz tried his best to chase after Juin but he failed.

Knowing that it was impossible to stop Juin from leaving, Hanz’s eyes were gleaning with water. In a second, his tears flowed. “GRANDPA!!!” Hanz shouted at the top of his lung trying to stop Juin but to no avail.

“NO! GRANDPA! NO! DON’T LEAVE ME!” Hanz was begging Juin to not leave him but the figure was getting further and further until the white light vanished.

“Take care of yourself,” Hanz heard Juin’s voice and he wailed in tears.

“NO!!! NO! GRANDPA!!” Hanz kept crying like a baby until he suddenly opened his eyes and a familiar view of his room’s ceiling was in front of him.

“A dream?” Hanz touched his face and he knew he was crying in his sleep. He wanted to think that it was all a dream but he decided to get up off his bed and checked Juin. Hanz hurriedly went to Juin’s room and once he got inside, he saw Juin lying on the bed peacefully.

“Fuh~ it was a dream,” Hanz sighed. Now that he saw his grandpa was there, he calmed down and decided to go back to his room. It was still quite early in the morning, thus he decided to continue his sleep.

However, Hanz suddenly stopped in his tracks. He looked back at Juin’s room and decided to enter the room again. Hanz saw Juin’s peaceful face and he stared at Juin’s chest. He stared at his grandpa’s chest for one minute but it was not moving.

“Grandpa?”
