AN - This is a long one, let me know if you like the length, I easily could have split this into two chapters but I wanted to see if you prefer this length versus two chapters of shorter length.

Well she did it. She killed him. She's no longer a fledgling. I guess that makes her my vampire bride. She's not my bride! Don't think like that! It's just she is a vampire bride and also happens to be mine. Wahh you don't believe me! I look down at the sleeping girl. She sleeps so peacefully. I pull the swords out of her shoulders. That looks painful! I should probably get her up now.

Poke, Poke.
Hmm what is that.
Poke, Poke.
I slowly open my eyes, finding the vampire from earlier kneeling next to me. She pokes my cheek again.
"Where am I?" I ask confused, I don't remember coming here
"You made it through!" she replies. I stand up and look around. I'm in a field, it's still night. The field smells of blood. Wait how to I know what blood smells like? I look at my feat to find the leader, dead, his throat torn apart. If I saw this sight just a few hours earlier I might have thrown up, or cried, or both. But for whatever reason this sight no longer appals me.
"By the way" I ask her, hoping she doesn't take offence "What's your name?"
"Oh my name? It's Isadora" she says shyly
"Am I still a fledgling?" I ask
"No, now you're a vampire bride"
"D-does that mean were engaged?" I ask keeping a straight face
"N-N-No!" she replies
This girl may be a vampire, but she's still a child at heart... not like I have anything to say though, I may be 9 but I lived on the streets and elves mature quickly.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Me and Morgan, my first friend, stood in the clearing. Her knew vampire brideship giving her the healing ability, quickly closing her wounds, hopefully they don't scar, scars are scary! I don't know what to say! I've never had a friend before. What do we do! As I panic internally, I debate what to tell her. My destination? My life? Ughh! I don't know what to do! If only she was here, she's much better at making friends. I try to clear my mind, I don't need to go down such dark thoughts. Well I guess I should test to see how loyal vampire brides really are, and what better Guinea pig then the bandit names Leis!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I lie on the ground, it seems the two girls-no the two monsters have forgot about me. After watching my friends get slaughtered I'm weighing my options. On one hand I might be able to escape, but I doubt I can outrun a vampire. On the other hand I can try to kill them, I remember a magic dagger, which we stole earlier. If I can use that to kill them, the reward would be beyond imagination. Since the elf freak was turned into a vampire, I have to assume that the other is a pure blood, as only pure bloods would make a fledgling. Killing a pure blooded vampire, to the 'Shadow Hunters Association', would potentially get me a nice cushy job in the association where he can spend the rest of his days relaxing and rolling in wealth, that would be the dream.
I reach the caravan, quickly drawing the dagger, still seemingly unnoticed. I start to crawl towards the monsters. Prepared to leap from my prone position and kill the pure blood.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As we talk, I start feeling a sense of danger, not for me, but for mi-Isadora. I scan the treeline, more from reflex than from actual conscious decision. As I scan however a figure jumps from his prone position on the grass. In his hands, a blade, it has a strange blue tint. A magic weapon! That can harm mis-Isadora! I instinctually hold out my hands, feeling energy gather at my palms, and release. The resulting beam is much wider than any I have conjured before.
Instead of the small, dim beam, that killed that other man earlier, a larger brighter beam the size of a watermelon. His head, completely dissipated from the beam, is nowhere in sight. I must have been imagining it, but I swear I saw mist-Isadora smile.
She leaned down and picked up the dagger examining it, not commenting on either the attack or on how cool my magic was. After studying it, or more specifically this blue spherical gemstone located in the base of the hilt. Using just her fingers, she splits the hilt in half--holding, almost affectionately--the gem in her hand
If you spot this story on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.
"Do you know what this is?" she asks me
"Um no" I reply honestly
"That's what I thought, magic weapons like this should be considered a crime to forge, the races can be such savage beasts" anger prominent in her voice as she crushes the gem in her hand, the shards fizzle in a spectacular blue colour before turning to dust.
"Lets go" she says turning away.
The sun beamed down on our face, my girlfriend and I sat atop the school. I took in the fresh air, what we doing is techniquely banned but that just makes it more enjoyable.
"We should probably get back to class, we don't want to be late" Lindy says, as she lies beside me
"Just for another boring lesson by Mr. Micheal" I ask with a bit of humor in my voice, Lindy looks at me with eyebrows slanted. "Fine fine, lets go"
We head down from the roof of the school, careful to avoid the watchful eyes of the teacher. We enter the classroom, Mr. Micheal says "Well well well, what do we have here? Mr. William would you care to enlighten us as to why you are late?"
"Not really" I reply shutting him up
"Take a seat" got 'em
As Mr. Micheal lectures the class on something boring about the difference between a pure blood and a vampire queen, nothing we haven't learned a thousand times before. After class the teacher tells my to stay. I hope this isn't about being late, I suspect he already knows about me and lindy, but I would still like to avoid it.
"You are an extremely talented student Will, but you have to attend your classes, and while you in your classes you need to pay attention" Mr. Micheal says with a hint of frustration in his voice "For god sakes Will, you made it into the Shadow Hunters Association at the age of 16, you and Lindis did" tch he shouldn't talk about Lindy like he knows her.
"Whatever teach but I have to go to my club now so... see ya!" I say as I run out the door, making quick work out of avoiding his reply. As I run down the halls of the school, the school being a form of educational training ground for future shadow hunters. I was enlisted by the association at the age of 15, and now being 16, I attend the school full time.
As I reach the end of the hall, I turn into a small room. Inside resting on the couch is Chris. Chris is the host of our club--well its not really a club, there is many clubs and each forms a squad of three--Chris is the squad leader as he is the oldest and the highest rank at B- while Lindy and I are C's.
Shortly after I arrive, Lindy enters the room. She looks around and sees Chris, still asleep, on the couch. She walks up to him and pinches his nose. I would have said something, but this was a common occurrence. After going for thirty seconds without air, Chris finally jumps awake, as he looks accusingly at Lindy.
"Stop sleeping so much, you're so useless!" Lindy says annoyed
"Sleep is good, it helps you grow... you should try it" he reply taking a shot at Lindys small frame.
"You suck!" that's Lindy for you, always gets the last laugh
"Anyway" Chris says, done with this bickering "We have a mission." Both of ours, me and Lindy's, attentions were peaked. We have never had a mission before.
"It's a simple recruitment mission, find the person who was spotted at this village, and recruit them, pretty simple" Chris says, bored "I was really hoping for some kind of combat with a vampire, make a name for myself, but well simple things for simple times"
Lindy and I don't comment on Chris eagerness to fight a vampire, we have both seen them, and we would be fine with never seeing another again.
