As Morgan and I walked, I thought about the gathering. I wouldn't have attend it if the current queen hadn't invited me personally... and offered milk. She knows all my weaknesses. She's dangerous. I have never attended one before, they only occur every ten years, so I kind of want to see what happens. I mean, know your enemy right.
I was hesitant to accept the invitation though, afraid that the other attendant would all be aristocratic pure blood snobs. Which, to be honest, they still probably will be. At least Crystal, the current queen, was willing to keep my queen blood a secret back then, I would hate the pure bloods trying to flatter me just to form a relationship with a potential queen.
"Hey Morgan" I say, expecting an answer. I wait, she must not be paying attention
"Morgan!" I say louder
"Oh um yes Mistress Isadora?" she asks after being drawn from her deep thought. Hmm mistress eh? She doesn't even realize she said it.
"What do you know about vampire society"
"Um nothing" she replies, a bit of shame detectible in her voice
"I see" I wonder why she's shameful, is it because she doesn't have an education? "Well at the top is the queen, she is the most powerful vampire and represents the decision making, then pure bloods come as the second most important, in elven terms, they would be like nobles, then lastly there is regular vampires, which are fledglings who avenge themselves"
"So I would be a regular vampire?" Morgan asks
"You're a unique case, most regular vampires actually birth themselves, after death they come back to avenge themselves becoming fledglings. We still don't know how though. You were given life by me, so you're above them but below pure bloods"
"Oh, ok" she says not very interested. I hit her on the head and say
"You should pay more attention, this is your world now" at that Morgan looks a little sad
"What's wrong Morgan?" I ask, not enjoying the sad look on her face
"I-It's just I'm not an elf anymore, I can't go back" she says with a trace of a tear growing in her eyes
I wipe the tear off with my finger "Would you want to go back?" I say, bringing back memories. I guess I should feel bad using her memories against her, but her being sad makes me feel sad and that's just annoying. As to how I know her memories, I learned the memories she thinks are important when I resurrected her.
"No, no I wouldn't"
"Good then let's continue on"
"Um if I can ask, where are we going? Morgan says, the fact that I still haven't told her our destination dawning on me
"Oh right I never told you, you're going to meet the abominable society of the vampire"

This narrative has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. If you see it on Amazon, please report it.
After traveling for a few days, speed transports were not offered to us for such an unimportant task, in our silver and grey robes we arrive at the village. As an outskirts village, it's doing well for itself. The buildings and roads are both well kept. Upon riding in Chris, Lindy, and I head towards the guard barracks. Chris, being the leader, headed to talk with the captain of the guard.
After he left, Lindy and I sat on a nearby bench
"I still don't believe a child could be an A rank" Lindy speaks what has been on both our minds since we read the mission report
"I agree but command says so, granted some would say us being C rank would be just as preposterous, and Chris being B, while not as crazy, is still impressive"
"I guess, but it still doesn't feel right"
Just then Chris walks out of the barracks and motions for us to follow. As we head towards the tavern Lindy says "Trying to pick up girls in a bar Chris? Or maybe you just want to get drunk again"
"Oh shut up, we're interviewing the guard who saw her"
We walk the rest of the way in silence. Upon our arrival the guard, who was on watch that night, came out to talk. He told us the event. We sat quietly and listened. Chris, as the leader, asked a few questions here and there to get a better picture of the situation.
After we finish talking we leave the village.
"What do you think Chris" I ask
"Well it doesn't matter, we didn't learn anything that the report didn't already say. Let's go ahead" Chris advances out of the conversation
"I think he's being to rash" Lindy whispers beside me so Chris couldn't hear
"I agree, although it may be nothing I think there are forces at work here beyond some overpowered kid"
I turn to look at Lindy to find her crouching down and looking at something on the ground. I lean over her to find some bark, but something is off about this wood. It doesn't appear to be torn off, like one would expect if they found bark on the ground, instead it is depressed like something was pushed into it... hard. I look up at the surrounding trees. One in particular catching my eye. I point it out to Lindy.
"I'll check"
Suddenly Lindy was surrounded by a thick black fog, complete covering her from. The fog rises slowly to the tree. The fog dissipates leaving Lindy standing on the branch. She pulls out her dagger and carves the tree in a rectangle and holds the removed piece on her hands before more fog carries her back to the ground.
I examine the bark--imprinted, deep--was a small hand print.
"I think there may be more to this story than meets the eye"

AN - Well I got a second chapter out, I don't think it's as long as the last one but I'm still fiddling with the length.
Let me know about any grammatical issues and leave a comment about what you think. Thanks
