Shadow Hunters and Combat?

Shadow Hunters and Combat?

The vampire still holds no weapons.  It's underestimating us.  We will need to use that.

The fight was explosive.  The vampire makes a mad dash towards us.  Lindy reacts by covering her body in black smoke, resembling armour, and dashes sideways, away from me.  The vampire falls for the bait, following Lindy.  It extends claw-like fingernails

As it is much faster than her, it quickly catches up and slashes at Lindy.  Unsurprisingly--for me, not so much for it--the slash goes through Lindy's shadow-covered core.  The vampire jumps back, putting some distance between them

"A human... with magic?" the vampire questions

Instead of replying, the black smoke morphs from her hand, forming a spear of darkness.  The fighting resumes with Lindy initiating the advance.

With the constant jabbing motion from Lindy, the vampire was to busy dodging to counterattack.  The spear lands a glancing blow, leaving a cut onto the vampire's cheek.  It disengaged falling back.  The cut wasn't healing.  More than just magic weapons could harm a vampire, magic could as well.

The vampire, while not nervous, looked uncertain.

"A simple human like you, cutting a pure blood like myself... unforgivable" the vampire's eyes start to glow golden, as a strange red metal begins to spread over his body.  The metal covers parts of his face and body.  The vampire clearly doesn't know how to use this ability properly.  Only the most powerful vampires have full control of the metal.

The vampire dashes forwards again.  It's actions seemingly entirely animalistic.  It was no longer defending itself.  Only attacking.  It makes a strange rambling sound, almost like a twisted laugh.  There was mention in a book I read about vampires losing their sanity in combat, almost like they revert back into fledglings... only much more powerful.

The vampires attacks still just drift through Lindy's body however.  But I know that each time it does, she gets more tired.  I need to do something.  Soon.

I use begin to move, slowly, as not to draw any attention to myself.  The vampire is still to distracted with Lindy to take notice of me.  It's mistake.  I reach it's flank.  Still stealthy.  I make a blade, in a similar fashion to Lindy.  Although the one I form is just a dagger, my mana is not strong enough to make larger weapons, it is still capable of damaging the vampire.

I leap forward, blade ready, and stab him in the back.  The blow is not lethal, but it still brings him to the ground.  He spits blood from his mouth.  It is a light shade of black.

Lindy steps forward, the black smoke has since faded, and cut it's head off.  We will need to bring that back with us as proof.

I look over at where the girls were sitting, only to find them gone.  I was about to trace them, when Lindy collapses to the ground.  I have to wrap up here first, then report back to the association.  Both about the vampire, and Chris's death.

AN - A super short one.  I was going to have this one and last one as one chapter, but I needed more time for this chapter.  I have never written a combat chapter before, it's a little confusing.  It's a sequential series of verbs so I read a bunch of other stories combat and tried.  Let me know how I did, aside from the length.  I will have more, longer, chapters out later today.

Let me know about any grammatical errors and leave a comment about what you think.  Thanks.
