Jeff stands up nervously to present in the board meeting. His hands are obviously shaking and he trembles as he got up to prepare his slides.
He did not know how to answer the shareholders and board members on the terrible deal he had signed. Much less tolerate such a crucial mistake. He knew his position is in trouble if the truth gets out. Therefore he decides to keep it a secret throughout the entire presentation. By the end of his great speech, he is met with applause and congratulations on the new funding round. Jeff heaves a sigh of relief, no one has figured it out.
Just then, his rival raises his hand before standing up.
“Ladies and gentleman, I have some unfortunate news regarding this project. Jeff had unwittingly signed a contract that requires us to pay back double the investment amount. This is unacceptable.”

A collective gasp escapes the mouths around the table. The group breaks into separate discussions. Then they collectively decided, with many agreeing that Jeff needs to be held accountable. Jeff quivers and tries his best to calm down the room but to no avail. The board members are angry now and the shareholders livid. They want answers. And they will get them.
Jeff returns back to his desk despondently. He knew his days are over. He grabs the telephone line and phone Ken’s company again but the line went dead. He smashes the phone in annoyance. This is not how it is suppose to be. It can’t be over just like that. No way his entire career is jeopardised due to a single mistake. Jeff grabs his cup of ice cold water and tells his assistant to get out of the room. He peers into the city skyline as the evening sun starts to set over the horizon. He is in denial.
