I open the car door at the opposite end of the driver’s seat and I let my manager in. Closing the door behind him, I can feel the cold sweat drip off my hands. I vigorously shake them off in disgust.
The road to Athereal Corporation is smooth as butter but the journey is anything but.
“So whose fault do you think it is that landed us in this hot mess?” My manager tries to shift the blame.
“I don’t know. Maybe the second largest real estate company in the city should not have went bankrupt?” I replied back.
”No! It is solely the fault of Athereal Corporation for failing to do their due diligence for the lack of transparency into the current operations of the real estate firm.”

”They need more oversight on the business of their main financier. If not, a situation like this will come up. And sure enough it did.”
”This is not the first time that this happened. And neither will it be their last if they don’t pull their socks up.” My manager huffs while catching his breath.
”Hmm, I don’t think you’re wrong. But there was not much they could do isn’t it.” I chime back rightfully to cheer up the atmosphere
”Well all we know for sure is we got a huge mess on our hands, and it isn’t our fault in the slightest.” My manager said with gusto and brimming with confidence.
I nearly beat a few red lights on the way to the company. It is a long journey that takes over two hours. One which we would normally have a driver but because we are in a hurry today, we skipped that.
I turn on the air conditioner to full blast. The air remains as hot as it is chilly.
