Chapter Eleven: Milly

The sunset was over so the group decided to go home. It was already night and the sky was filled with darkness. Its dark canvas doesn’t have a single star in it yet. But the crescent moon was already there.

“Before we go home...” Alexandria said as she pretended to cough. “I have an announcement to make.” She grinned at Roxanne. Roxanne blushed furiously as she hid her face with both of her hands.

“You’re soooo cute Roxanne.” Alexandria added as she hugged Roxanne from behind and grabbed her boobs. Matthew and Albert both liked the view. It made her utter weird sounds. “Just tell them your announcement already.” She said as she fondled them.

“Okay, okay. P-Please let go of me.” She cried.

                “Pervert.” Eliza said.

Claire however, took a picture of them. Alexandria then let go of her and pinched Roxanne’s cheek. Everyone listened.

“O-On December 23, the guild will be having a Christmas party on Alexandria’s house.” She said.

Cezille had her head resting on Matthew’s shoulder. Matthew was flushed red. Claire took a photo of the two. Eliza was listening and next to him was Albert.

“Oh, oh!!” Milly said as she emerged behind Albert. “I have a concert this 26! I hope you guys would come to see me.” She smiled her bright smile that always captivates the hearts of many as she handed them the tickets. “They’re worth twenty-five thousand pesos, you know.”

“I knew it!!” Roxanne rushed as she ran toward Milly and grabbed her hand. “You’re Emily! The singer!” She jumped with joy and shook both of Milly’s hands heartily.

                “Eh…? You didn’t know?”

“I thought you looked familiar… but of course I don’t want to get ahead of myself. But it’s really you…. Please take a picture with me. And I have your albums at home… I should’ve bought them… for you to sign. But anyways, picture please!” She didn’t even let Milly answer and took and her phone. Milly smiled an awkward smile.

“I’ll tag it to your page later.” Roxanne smiled.

“Hehehe….” Milly smiled a faint smile. I never thought that I have fans like her.

And so they went home while talking about the party. And on the way, Roxanne talked to Milly. Told her that she was her favorite singer that her favorite song was her version of Wrinkle by Gumi and other trivial stuff that she knows about Milly. She sings original and anime songs that her band translates. But almost all of them were Japanese translated to English. Which makes a lot of anime-lovers, and weeaboo’s alike her fans. At times, she would sing them using the Japanese language.

The next day after school, they hang at Albert’s house.

                “Christmas Party, huh.” Milly sighed.

Patricia was having a duel with Roxanne. Roxanne was using Albert’s magician deck, Claire was reading a book titled Fevre Dream, Cezille was playing chess with Matthew, and Alexandria was watching anime that she brought with Albert and probably, teasing him.

“What kind of event is this Christmas?” Eliza asked. She was the only one who isn’t wearing a school uniform. She was wearing Albert’s red shirt which is way too big for her. And under it was a pair of black shorts.

“You really are out of this world.” Milly smiled and pat her head. It made Eliza smile like a little kid. She placed her hand on her chin and sipped her already cold coffee that Albert gave her awhile. She then tied a small amount of Elliza’s hair into a pigtail. “You see… there’s this guy named Jesus. He is the Son of God. And some says, God itself, and others says that he is a part of this Trinity. And so, he came to save everyone from hell and such. And it is his birthday this December 25. People would give gifts to their loved ones and eat a feast on Christmas Eve.” Milly then cut it, making her look like the main protagonist in School Rumble.

“Speaking of gifts.” Cezille shouted. She then produced a small choker and a black wristband on her pocket. It looked like something that a huge dog would wear. “This’ll look cute on you.” She smiled as she came towards Eliza and put the choker on her neck and the black wristband on her right wrist.

“Cool!” Eliza said as she raised her right hand and looked at it. Claire took a picture of her. “Thanks.”

“Oh, that’s nothing.” Cezille smiled. “Those were my old ones though…”

“Still!!!!!!” Eliza held Cezille’s hands as her green eyes glimmered as if Cezille gave her all of the gold in Casterly Rock.

“You should give a gift to Cezille too.” Milly said.

“I see…..” Eliza said. “Then I should buy Albert a gift too.”

Then after realizing what she just said, Eliza’s white face blushed furiously.

“I’m going to buy him a gift too.” Milly smiled. I won’t lose to you just because you’re kinda cute and have a weird colored hair.

“I-I-It’s not like I like him or anything. I just want to give him something as a thanks for letting me stay on his house...” Eliza said to Milly’s foot.

“I’m going to give him a gift because I love him.” She grinned. As if you’ll beat me, you lowlife RPG brained girl.

“Y-Y-Y-Y-Y-Y-You love Albert?!?!” Eliza stood and shouted loud enough for the whole room to hear as her flushed face turned even redder.

“Yup. With all my heart.” Milly turned to Albert and smiled. “Am I right, Albert?”

Albert turned around and said as his face turned red too. “Shut up… don’t be so casual about it…”

“Is that so?” Milly placed her index finger on her lip and tilted her head a bit. “Back then, you said that you-“ Albert ran towards Milly and covered her mouth.

“Don’t listen to her, Eliza.” Albert said as he forced a smile. He’s already sweating.

That made Eliza even more curious, like a cat, first time seeing a ball of yarn. “What is it? Alexandria?” Eliza asked.

“Albert used to be in-love with Milly. Before she even became really really famous.” Alexandria said as she smiled innocently as if she just did something heroic. “And he was dumped by her.”

Albert felt betrayed all of a sudden. His face turned into a scowl and let go of Milly.

“So…” He opened his mouth. “So… what if I loved her? What if I still like her?”

“You still like me, huh?” It made Milly smile.

“I’ll buy some cola.” He said as he went outside.

                “Spaghetti.” Claire ordered. Albert nodded.

Milly could see the jealousy in Eliza’s eyes. Victory. She wanted to see that face a lot longer. She wanted to feel Eliza’s misery and jealousy. Milly knew that deep inside her, Eliza likes Albert. Since he was the one who helped her. “Do you have something to do tomorrow?” Milly asked when Albert was already out of their sight. “It’s Saturday. Let’s go buy something for Albert this Christmas.” She smiled.

                Eliza felt uneasy. “Gift… huh…”

“Yes. Albert would probably want to receive something from you. And…” Milly leaned closer and whispered in Eliza’s ear. “You’ll probably get one from him.” Milly then stood up and yawned. “Tomorrow, I’ll pick you up. Around 9:30AM. “ Milly smiled once again.

                “S-Sure.” Eliza smiled back.

The next day, Milly came to Albert’s house to pick Eliza up. It was already 9:45AM.

“Let’s go.” Milly smiled. Her short hair was tied into a ponytail. She was wearing a white long sleeved shirt that says “Give Up Already”, black skinny jeans and black and white checkered Vans. And somehow, wears a pair of glasses.

This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.

“O-okay.” Eliza said. She was wearing a huge, plain blue long sleeved shirt (probably Albert’s), black shorts and slippers. She was also wearing the accessories that Cezille gave her.

Eliza’s green eyes widened for a second. “Why are you wearing glasses?” She asked.

“Oh… this?” She pressed the nose bridge of her glasses. “Disguise.” She grinned.

Albert showed up behind Eliza. “Don’t get too long, okay? She’s still not that familiar with the places here.” He was only wearing his black boxer shorts.

“I know, I know.” She smiled at him.

“What’re you two up to anyways?” He asked as he leaned behind his wooden door.

Eliza’s face turned red all of a sudden and looked at Milly with the ‘I think were busted’ look. Milly gave her an ‘It’ll be fine’ grin.

“Just having a girl’s day-out.” She smirked at Albert.

“Girl’s day-out, huh. Okay. Have fun.” He smiled at Eliza.

                Tch.

The two then began their journey to a mall. The two talked. Eliza asked how it was to be a student and Milly made Eliza listen to her songs.

“The music in my world are just harps and violins. This is kinda…. Loud.” But in the end, Eliza liked it.

“It’s loud because it’s what I feel.” Milly said as she took the earphones from Eliza’s ear. “It’s like, sometimes, I want to scream my feelings. I remember reading something on the internet. It says ‘Music is what feelings sounds like’. And besides.” She pat Eliza’s pale blue head. “Rock is supposed to be loud. Remember that.” Milly gazed out of the window of the jeepney that they’re riding. “We’re here.”

The jeepney stopped on SM North. Most of the passengers got off at the same stop leaving the seats almost empty.

It’s a huge building and next to it is the Trinoma. I wish no one would recognize me here. However, there were quite a few people who recognized Milly. Some asked for autographs and pictures.

“You really are popular.” Eliza exclaimed as her deep green eyes widened for a second.

You just noticed? How dull can your little brain get? “I guess so… If I’m not popular, then my concert tickets won’t be sold out in three days.” Milly winked.

They went to different kinds of stores and Milly ended up buying clothes, shoes and accessories for herself and Eliza.

“Here.” Milly said as she put a green beaded bracelet on Eliza’s left hand. “These matches your eyes.” She smiled.

“You sure you’re giving this to me?” She said as she lifted her arm up and stared her new bracelet.

                “Yup. You don’t like it?”

It would just get in the way when holding a sword. Eliza thought. “Yes, I do. Thanks a lot.” Eliza said instead and forced a smile.

                “Great.” Milly smiled back.

They went to another store. It was a record store. And there, posters of her upcoming concert was posted everywhere. And her new album was displayed on the entrance of the store.

“Maybe this will do.” She smiled as she picked one copy.

“Dying Hope.” Eliza read the cover. She took one copy and looked at it. There was a picture of Milly. She was standing and wearing a black shirt and white pants. She was holding red roses and on her back was a pair of wings fading away.

“You liked the cover?” Milly asked. “A friend of mine made that art. Pretty cool, huh?” She smiled.

Then, her new song played inside the store.

“Listen to this! It’s my new song. It is my first time singing with only the accompaniment of a piano.” Milly then sang softly a few lines.

You lied and left me alone

                You were my everything

Making me feel loved and special

                Then going on your own

Her voice is so soft and sweet... unlike the songs that she made me listen to earlier. Eliza thought. I can feel the loneliness in her voice.

You are cruel, leaving me here

In a world where no one cares

                No one ever hears

The words that my soul screams

My hope is dying, like the roses you gave

My hope is dying, hope you prepared my grave

                I’m already dead to you

So I think I must kill you

So that we would never part….

Eliza felt that her happiness drained away by Milly.

“Did you wrote that?” Eliza asked. ”Albert says that you write your songs.”

“Nah.” She smiled. “A friend of mine did. She said she’s all broken and all, so she wrote my carrier single. Just singing such a song makes me sad too. I mean, “Dying Hope”?” She laughed. “Just the title itself makes me want to slit my wrist.”

So they went out of the store and Milly bought a copy of her own CD. The store clerk and the cashier and the other customers were staring at her. Thinking that she might be the all famous Emily. They just stood there and looked at her.

“I already bought my gift for Albert and one for the Christmas Party.” She said as she lifted all the bags that she has. Most of them were for her. “You should think of what to buy for Albert.”

“I….” Eliza stopped to stare at her foot. “I don’t know what to buy for him.”

“Look.” Milly’s deep brown eyes stared at Eliza’s green eyes. It made Eliza jump backwards, seeing Milly’s cute face near hers. “There are two ways of buying gifts. One, you buy what you want to have for yourself. And the other, you buy what you think the receiver wants to have.”

It gave Eliza and idea on what to give Albert. "Now I now what to give him." She smiled.
