Meeting the Kobolds

Meeting the Kobolds

High King Thráin Anvilrider of the Goldenrift Dwarves and his six bodyguards followed the DireBear and Theria into the thatched roof wooden hut; as she confronted the Gargoyle and the Shaman on the edge of the sixth Kobold village, Theria exuded a light green mist along the floor with pale green lightning imperceptibly moving under the mist along the floor as the mist spread to cover all the floor. The Shaman bowed to the High King.

Theria spoke, "Gargoyle, I seek those who killed my King, and I have tracked you down through the Portal from the Wizard Tower, where a Demonic Eldritch Nameless Horror who was in part responsible for my King's assassination, did dwell before it was defeated. Now what can you tell me about this?" Theria's ring was blue for the Gargoyle and yellow for the Shaman, but she was aware they probably hadn't had time to make up their minds about her, but things looked promising.

The Gargoyle turned to Theria, and spoke, "Hidden in the rafters of my former Master's Tower, I saw the Dark Protégé attempt to kill you three times, and then when you called down the wrath of heaven, they fled to the Dark Continent. The two spies were left behind and anxious to leave, so I offered them Portals Next to my former Master's Portal and the Dark Protégé's Portal to return them to places of safety. Then I came home and found the Kobolds now living here. I sought to join the village for mutual protection from the destruction that the Kobolds fled to here, away from the troubles of the South on this, the Dead continent. Most of this continent belongs to the dead, except for this tip, which is mainly because of the elementals who keep the dead off this side of the great river. You defeated my Master, and I yield to your mercy."

The Shaman, said, "Greetings, High King Thráin Anvilrider of the Goldenrift Dwarves. We are honoured that you chose to visit us for the first time; our hospitality is always open to you. Thank you for your protection, and we will continue our regular tributes let us know how we can be of service, and we will, of course, assist." The Shaman, "Greeting Theria, we seek positive relations with all and offer you our hospitality too."

The High King stood impassive and watching, so Theria said to the Shaman, "Thank you for your hospitality; before I accept, I must finish my interrogation of the Gargoyle." and Theria turned to the Gargoyle, "Before I will consider my mercy, what more can you tell me of the Dark Protégé, and was he involved in the death of our King?" The Gargoyle replied, "I believe he used to be called Horace, and he was the one who summoned the Demonic Eldritch Nameless Horror to train him; they came here and captured a stone elemental and transformed me into a Gargoyle. Then they headed north and, over the years, destroyed the surface of the continent to the North. The one you knew as Iladzimir made me guardian of the Wizard's Tower; my first job was to check the foundations as they had translated the essence of the Western Wizards Tower into the Eastern Tower, leaving the Western Wizard weakened so they got it to be destroyed to hide the evidence, I heard them talking from the foundations the Dark Protégé and the one you knew as Iladzimir, the Dark Protégé wanted nothing left of Horace so he couldn't be linked to Horace. Here they trained, taking down the Southern Kingdoms and Portaling experimentations in Choas Magic and Necromancy back to the Disputed Vale but with a strong repelling field around their own Wizards Tower. Yes, they plotted the downfall of many Kingdoms, including your own."

Theria asked, "Did you ever act as Messanger or send a messenger to the Night Elves?" The Gargoyle replied I was sent as a messenger, and I arrived through a portal disguised as a skeletal centaur and followed my orders." Theria was grave and said, "Gargoyle can you enable me to open Portals?" The Gargoyle imparted the elemental knowledge of Portals construction to Theria. Theria said, "While I would offer you mercy for your Service and your tribute of Portal making, you are confessing to being a King killer, and I know no Noble that would allow a King killer to live, yet I give you as a prisoner of war to my new ally High King Thráin Anvilrider of the Goldenrift Dwarves as a tribute to bestow justice, it is the most I can do for you Gargoyle to withhold the sword when you are in another's territory". Thráin's axe cleaved the Gargoyle in two. He smiled and said, "Thank you for the adventure; let us now experience Kobold hospitality." seemingly unphased.

Theria was taken to the centre of the village, a fire was made, reed mats were laid down, and a feast was prepared. Theria asked Thráin and the Shaman if he invited some more guests Thráin was more curious than wary, so he gave permission, and the Shaman agreed with whatever pleased the High King. Theria asked Thráin for guidance as he opened scouting portals in the Northern Wastes looking for the trade and diplomatic delegation. In the Cavern of the Primordial Ice Wyrm Sceaða ColdDrake was her nest and eight giant eggs; besides them were the Ice Elf King and the delegation; Theria invited the trade delegation through the portal to meet the High King of the Goldenrift Dwarves in neutral territory, and the Kobold leaders. Princess Tystin went first, and The trade and diplomatic mission led by Princess Tystin, a representative from the Feybeards, Firebeards, Black Locks, plus 5 Kobolds all came through. Theria then asked to be excused by the High King, and he agreed, she went through the Portal and closed it behind her. The Kobold village held a party with the strangers as guests of Honour, and the High King was at the centre of events and pleased with them.
