Hydris Lacuna, Hydris Lacuna, Calypso, Brennisteinn, South Pole Wall...
READY!
SET!
GO!
Maverick scoffed through his snout. "How fast do you want to die?"
Uzi smirked with the tendrils on vis fan-shaped torso flapping towards the talking lion. "I was about to ask you the same thing."
With an instant tremor below heading towards the three thin platforms that were levitating above the green moon with a lake of ammonia...
Uzi... whether ve went back in time to set up the tectonic computer with an ancient arak civilization, or ve set up the match and stage at the time and place it would happen... Uzi almost won the match instantly.
A toxic geyser that might as well have blasted across the solar system brushed against Maverick's golden fur.
Even as a human Maverick's jaw never dropped as low as it had as his health bar dropped to four hearts. With what seemed to be from experience, he still managed to maintain perfect posture after landing from the sneak attack. Uzi could not tell which limb Maverick chose to sacrifice from the match's thought prompt.
"I guess I spoke too soon," Maverick said with a toothy grin. "Uzi, you are learning how to fight like a god. Gods win fights in the first move. You have earned my respect little arak."
"You can take your respect back," Uzi said, raising two needle arms like a human.

With rows of hands in sync flying through busy skies fighting off the 0 or 1 joker, a gargantuan mall that was once in Colorado Springs, but now was whole again in Derry Hill... well... until a whitenoise horde of thumbnail zombies glitched into the simulation as both code and flesh.
"FUCKING PRONOUNS?" their disemboweled bellies screamed as they bashed their bloody thumb-heads onto the windows of the mall's boutique shop.
As animals citizens from anywhere in spacetime all glanced in unison to find the zombies that spawned, or otherwise players, the crowd either let weapons drop from a portal above their heads or they started running away with laughter. The weapons the talking animals used were guns of all kinds modified to fit around the snout, and if they bit the apparatus in between their teeth hard enough, it would fire from the barrel on the left or right side of their snouts. Others wielded glowing swords with their jaws clenched.
An eight-year old on the mic that had the avatar of a Doberman squeaked...
"Ew, it looks like rotting chicken!"
On a reasonably sized parking lot that was not spammed across where America once was, in between two smashed cars thumbnail zombies wobbled through earlier, Joaquim and Zinnia were marching together like androids.
CLUNK! CLUNK CLUNK!
"Thank God I am not doing a stealth mission," Zinnia said.
"Right?" Joaquim said, bashing in a pot hole into the concrete himself. "How do robot cops deal with this?"
"By not having ear drums," Zinnia said. "I see it! There's a boutique over there!"
"Yo, why are there naked people on the parking lot?"
"FUCKING PRONOUNS?"
A wobbling horde with decomposing flesh flung blood on the concrete from wobbling too hard and their bellies screamed angrily as they headed towards the androids that were once supersoldiers.
"Influx reacted to our imaginations, but this magic system Fatima made... it also reacts to hand signs," Zinnia said.
If you come across this story on Amazon, it's taken without permission from the author. Report it.
"Creating our own magic systems?" Joaquim asked. "That's like... next level."
"Don't get ahead of yourself... just do the hand signs until you get your carbon body back for Kaya. Fatima did all the coding so our thoughts and motions act like prompts on these mercury shells we are in," Zinnia explained. "This is what happens when I try to point the finger with the intention to do harm."
Zinnia pointed to the horde of whitenoise closing in across the parking lot at first, but then the skin around her wrists opened to reveal a mercury opening that blasted a grenade on impact on the horde, blood and guts flying in all directions.
"Easy," Zinnia mocked with a smile, a drop of blood smearing her cheek without phasing her.
"Sick! Grenade launchers," Joaquim raved, his mercury-influx head spinning slowly to glance down at his own hand. "Let's grab some clothes."

A few blocks away from where Joaquim and Zinnia were terminating whitenoise zombies offended by just a few letters changing in what one could refer to as an abbreviated name, Lucia as a human with ginger hair and a black biker suit was riding a red flying bike while still looking like a particular actress. Beside her on a large hoverboard, powered by influx fireflies, were the talking bulls Gabe and Borrys. Gabe's red jacket was flapping from the winds passing by a clocktower while Borrys had a torn up Ember Tree army uniform.
It appeared that the highland bull Borrys recently spawned in Derry Hill 2 as his mouth gaped and his celeste eyes could not be any wider. Even though he had a thick patch of brown fur above his eyes, they were that wide to be visible from multiple blocks over the suburbs they were flying over.
"Why... why am I a bull?" Borrys barely muttered in awe. "Oh my God... so this is what dysphoria fe-"
"Wait, we met in Ember Tree city," Gabe interrupted. "Don't tell me... is this your first temporal mission? Your face says it all... are you also just a cadet?"
"Yes and yes... the Colonel just threw me into a mission as soon as I was approved for 2 platoon," Borrys explained. "I was just a human in Hunger and Love Triangles... and now I am here. What simulation is this?"
"Derry Hill 2," Lucia and Gabe said at the same time as they descended into a shootout by a mall.
"I was about to ask to be caught up to speed," Borrys said. "But... will these missions always be confusing?"
"Yup," Lucia and Gabe said at the same time. "Espers that steal, plant, and read memories made it this way."
"... I can tell that you have had this talk many times," Borrys murmured as his voice got drowned out by snout-guns and zombie cries on the suburban street below.
"Yup."

SIMULATION: HALT (Hunger and Love Triangles)
In the rare instance the crime and prison singularities of Byza and Alca were working together to hold Ember Tree conglomerate chair members hostage...
Paralyzing cybernetic-wielding young men in awe, most of them descendants of the blues with one Latino and white guy, they saw something that might as well be a hallucination at this point in time.
Among the flickers of holograms that ran on electricity as it rained against the concrete filled with dismembered cybernetic limbs of security guards Byza and Alca eliminated...
The neon circle that began to set among smog casted sunlight on flickers of lavender petals and video noise, causing the men to be starstruck as the Spider Herald spun out of the petals like fauna, landing on vis feet with an open palm pointing to the sky with vis eyes glowing pink and baby blue. A glowing dove left vis palm and flew towards ad covered skyscrapers and black clouds.
"Do... do y'all see that?"
All Byza and Alca members raised their blades, guns, and cybernetic arms at the glitchy avatar that wore a helmet made of bone and a velvet net running suit.
"I am the reason that 1 platoon have not been able to rescue your hostages," the Spider Herald said. "And you all should be using drones by now, you are already behind. Hackers and cult leaders will become the new gods of the streets. The masters of computer language and human language. Flesh and metal computers prompting each other."
Ve brought both vis arms down with an MWAOS terminal flickering behind ver.
From the yedaliuth tooth helmet ve wore, the flesh from vis neck and below inverted and swallowed vis helmet, then it blossomed out into a human shape with no blood leaking out. Ve shapeshifted into Morgan Hunter, also known as Sergeant Hunter, however Hunter wore a glowing net running trench coat with onyx undertones.
"The world may not have even considered what the streets have been doing with machine learning this whole time," Hunter said. "However, that has been all we have been thinking about and we have come with words of wisdom."
See, neither Byza or Alca have yet to know of anything like influx, or holograms that could be projected from tree computers, or espers, or even jaunters.
What Hunter was doing looked like magic to everyone.
Their eyes kept widening, and it was intentional on Hunter's part as she wanted to appear as some kind of American god or harbinger.
Hunter backflipped, performing a move by hitting the side of her palm into her elbow keeping them raised into a perfect perpendicular maneuver, and her skin rippled again once more into her form that had multiple conscious minds, human and metal.
The Spider Herald.
Ve landed once more on vis feet and raised both vis arms to the dark sky, frightening a Byza member so much that he dropped a handgun.
"I have words of wisdom for the streets," the Spider Herald said. "You could call it a prophecy. A prophecy for the streets."
