The sleeper slice.
Even humans who have attained immortality or the power to wipe away multiple universes... it was the universal bane of the human body's design. The omniverse simulations that ignored this universal law already became 0 as no magic system could overcome this.
Fortunately the crowd was dissipating—the Camilo stans composed of teenagers and talking animals were on the sidewalk instead of the playground now—but most stuck around to record live from the internet using their Sentiennica phones.
Fatima landed an influx-infused punch in Cadet Rhodes's gut, while Bastian landed a kick to the side of his face. Iker smiled at how good Bastian got at performing high kicks, but as he returned from Pager's lolillusion to being by Bastian's side, he spotted Cadet Hans fast approaching his friends with fists raised.
"Bastian, if you don't mind, I need your gun," Iker whispered. As he grabbed it, he said that so Bastian would not react during the fight; he never had to ask his brother for the weapon. However, it was only now that Iker realized another reason Bastian was more distant.
Bastian did not actually get to avenge his parents did he? He placed his emotions aside for Iker's sake.
Iker's eyes would have welled up if it was not for Cadet Hans reaching striking distance between them all.
I'll make it up to you, starting now.
The sleeper slice could be considered a holy grail. It was a pressing mystery to Ember Tree Finance's conglomerate as to how gang members were killing supersoldiers that were in Kaya form.
How was it possible that guns and blades were killing Kaya users? After all, entering Kaya form made influx influence the element of carbon, an element prominent in the human skin and muscle. A tungsten rod dropped from space could only tickle a supersoldier who has mastered Kaya form through and through.
If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.
It seemed impossible that a 21st century gun and fine blades could kill a Kaya form user, but Byzian members—or ex-Byzian members in this regard—were not going to tell corporate demons how it was done.
This was an information war after all.
Iker knew it was Que Va that sliced Cadet Hans across the left side of his upper torso in a precise angle even though he did not see the drone. After shooting the revolver, Iker would have caught a glimpse of the drone if he focused on observing it, but he was busy making sure the bullet popped the nazi's skull open and flung him into the bark soft-fall. And it did.
"Que va mang," Bastian said.
Iker glanced over to find Fatima holding Cadet Rhodes's head between her two hands.
"This is the last chance I am giving your ass," Fatima threatened. "You don't have jurisdiction here."
As Cadet Rhodes raised his fists once more, Fatima spun his head around into a fatal crack.
Iker's first instinct was to celebrate, but before he could act on it, Fatima and Bastian stood still in place. Their aghasted faces gave away that they were seeing something that was not there. Or could that be an accurate statement about something that was there in a different simulation?
Where the fuck is Pager?
"rIgHt In FrOnT oF yOu," Pager mocked.
Indeed, the levitating esper Pager was using a new kind of illusion that required physical touch. He must have dove Bastian and Fatima with a quick tap while they checked to make sure Cadet Rhodes was really dead. And he was closing in on Iker from the starry night sky.
Iker quickly deduced that Pager used an illusion that was designed more around paralysis, as whatever Bastian and Fatima was seeing was lasting more than a second. They were usually countered by a surge of pain or pleasure.
Que Va was off somewhere else as it was tasked to attack at a precise angle and Iker had no idea where it currently was, but Hughmungus was already close by and on standby. Iker got the thicc drone to tackle Bastian in the right angle.
"Hey!" Bastian shouted as he fell on Fatima.
"Get the fuck off me!" Fatima yelled back as she returned to reality as well.
Iker grinned at them with love while Pager tapped him on the head.
