"I'm back"
When Elliot came running in, Emily and Clare were preparing dinner in the kitchen. The delicious smell of stew wafted through the air.
"Who's there, sister?"
"This is the person who's going to be your teacher."
"Nice to meet you, Elliot."
Clare put down her knife, adjusted her gaze to Elliot's height and greeted him.
Ralph then came in with a "I'm back" voice.
Elliot ran and clung to Ralph's leg, going around behind him to look at Clare.
"Oh, welcome back, Ralph. The teacher mentioned in the letter from King Kratos has arrived."
"Ah, from Brannor Law."
Clare stood up and bowed deeply to Ralph. "Nice to meet you, Ralph. I am Clare Coredoniu. I come from the Law Kingdom of Brannor."
"You're younger than I thought. I look forward to working with you."
"Please wait a moment."
Clares went into the living room and returned shortly.
"Here is a letter from Pope Albeini."
Ralph wiped the mud off his shoes and took the letter with both hands, opened it and looked down.
"Ralph, to Emily and Volcania. Nice to meet you. I am Albeini Ansaclas, Pope of the Law Kingdom of Brannor.
King Kratos Bilderna has requested that I send Clare Coredoniu. He may look young, but he is an outstanding teacher with excellent morals and skills.
I have told her not to tell anyone about the hero. Well then.
Albeini Ansaclas"
Ralph folded the letter, handed it to Emily, and smiled, "I look forward to working with you."
Clare bowed deeply once more.
"Have you brought my luggage to my room yet?"
"It's still in the living room. It looks heavy, so Ralph, could you help me carry it?"
Emily read the letter and folded it.
"Okay. I'll carry the luggage, so follow me, Clare. I'll show you to your new room."
"Okay, I understand. Thank you."
After seeing Ralph and Clare off as they went upstairs, Elliot asked Emily.
"Hey, mom, is that girl going to be my teacher?"
The narrative has been taken without permission. Report any sightings.
"Yes. You can call me Ms. Clare."
"I wanted to go to school like Garral, but..."
Elliot again let out the words he'd said to Ralph.
Emily's heart ached for a moment at the sight of the lonely six-year-old boy.
"You can hang out with Garal after school. You'll naturally make more friends. You're much more special than kids your age, so you need a personal teacher. Do you understand?"
Emily embraced Elliot lovingly, wrapping him in a cocoon.
"Yes..."
Her voice was not pleasant, but the word "special" struck Elliot in the heart.
"I get it. I'll do my best."
"Now, let's have dinner first. Today is Clare's first day here, so let's celebrate. Wash your hands first."
That night, Emily and Clare showed off their skills, and the dinner was a little more luxurious than usual.
The next day, Elliot's day changed. Before breakfast and dinner, he practiced sword fighting with Ralph, and while Ralph was on patrol, he studied with Clare. He did that six times a week, and left Elliot free to do what he wanted on the free day. After about six months, Elliot began to immerse himself in sword training and studying even on his days off.
Elliot's sense of specialness began to blossom, and he quickly absorbed the content of his studies and the sword training he received from Ralph.
A year had passed since Clare came to the Volcania household. Elliot was seven years old. It was a day off, but he had accompanied Ralph on his patrol for the first time in a long time.
"Elliot, you're a quick learner. I hate to say it myself, but you remind me of myself as a child."
Clare, who was now a member of the family, was enjoying tea with Emily.
"Claré was also a teacher and magician at that age. He had talent."
"No, I don't know anything about swordsmanship, so I think Elliot is amazing. I think it's about time we started training in magic."
"Magic, you say?"
"Yes, right now it's my job to teach magic that isn't used outside of the Brannor Law Country. I think Elliot has the talent. I can tell when I watch him practice swordsmanship. Sometimes I can see mana seeping out of his body. If we could make that into a form, who knows how useful it would be."
"I see... I wonder if it's dangerous."
"There's no risk of mana exploding, but I think I'll basically teach it outside. For now, you can practice controlling mana indoors."
When Clare first saw Elliot, she was a little skeptical about the existence of a hero. But when she saw his talent, her doubts turned to certainty.
However, Emily and the others' greatest wish was for Elliot to live a normal life.
