A hero is coming!!
Crossing the Border

Crossing the Border

Elliot and the others were facing a lamia with the upper body of a woman and the lower body of a snake. They were forced to fight in a different way than they had before. The party was unable to cope with the tail, which moved freely like a whip.

Belhardt pushed his shield forward to block the attack.

Behind him, Whis fired arrows, but they were all deflected by the tail.

"There's no opening..."

Elliot tried to find an opportunity, but couldn't step into his opponent's territory.

"Elliot, where's your magic?"

"Oh, that's right."

Up until now, he'd only used his sword, so he'd forgotten to use magic.

He jumped out from behind Belhardt and aimed a wind blade at the lamia. The dense, concentrated wind blade easily cut off the lamia's tail.

"We've cut off the enemy's main attack, now it's time for a simultaneous attack!"

Whis's arrows were not blocked, so Elliot ran towards the weakened lamia.

After dusk passed, the border town of Carla came into view in the darkness.

"Looks like we can avoid sleeping rough now,"

Karna looked relieved.

"But we fought quite a few monsters today. I'd never seen any before,"

Elliot said, counting on his fingers.

The border town was not quite a royal capital, but it was surprisingly developed, probably because of thriving trade. Luckily, they were able to find an inn, and since the border checkpoint was closed, they decided to cross the border tomorrow.

Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.

Glancing at Karna, who was already fast asleep, Whis' eyes bulged with anxiety.

Now he would finally know where his mother and father were. He absolutely had to lead everyone to the Forest of Reincarnation. No, he had to go even if he had to go alone.

Although he was exhausted from fighting countless monsters that night, he couldn't sleep until late.

The border opened at six in the morning. He showed the permit he had received from King Bilderna and was able to pass through easily without any baggage inspection. He had paid the fee for the currency exchange.

"This permit is amazing."

Elliot, stepping out of the city of Carla, stared intently at the permit.

"Elliot, what are you going to do now?"

"First of all, we need to meet King Raniester. King Kratos told us to."

"Where is King Raniester's castle?"

"Wait, I'll take a look at the map."

Elliot opened a world map, and the three of them were drawn to it.

Belhard muttered, rubbing his thinly-bearded chin.

"The Kingdom of Glaize is bigger than the Kingdom of Bilderna. Judging by the number of inns, it would take three days to walk to the royal capital of Graziest."

"I see..."

Whis couldn't bring himself to mention the Forest of Reincarnation. He was hesitant to lead the party to the dangerous forest where his parents had disappeared.

"I wish I could borrow a horse, but I don't have much money on hand. I have two women, so I'd like to let them stay at the inn as much as possible. Let's keep going."

Karna was touched by Elliot's unexpected thoughtfulness. At first he thought he had a free-spirited personality, but he was surprised at how Elliot had changed since he was tasked with protecting the party.

The types of monsters had also changed as they crossed the border. The heroes' path was blocked by swarms of Yahoos that looked human but were savage and violent, vicious Red Caps that looked like old men, and Lamia Queens that had three tails and were a size larger than a lamia.

However, the heroes' party began to work together, and although it was a struggle, they gradually got used to fighting. Just as the sun was setting, they were able to reach the first town, Salam, without losing any strength or magic. Perhaps because it was just a day's journey from the border, it was surprisingly developed. "I have a bit of time, so I'm going to go buy some potions. You three, get a place to stay."

"Yeah. Once we've got a place to stay, we'll be at the bar in town. I think we'll be able to find you right away."

Elliot turned on his heel and raised his hand in acknowledgment.

"There's no need for the hero to go and get supplies himself," Karna said, looking at Elliot's back.

"Don't worry, before he's a hero, he's Ralph's son. He's like you in that he's very caring."

"That's true. Elliot's been like that since he was little."

"Anyway, let's go find a place to stay first. I want to take a break at the bar and have a drink."
