Alec and Tobias stand atop a hill. The city is within their view.
Alec: It’s about time we spotted this damn city. We’re already more than halfway through the 3rd day.
Tobias: You spotted the city. I’m just hearing about it from you.
Alec: Ugh, shut the hell up! Don’t try to make me feel sorry for you!
Tobias: I’m not. I’m just pointing out a fact.
Alec: Whatever…
Alec plops down their supply bag, opens it, and grabs their water canteens.
Alec: Here, drink.
Alec hands Tobias a canteen, and the two relax for a moment.
Alec: So, how should we address the elephant in the room?
Tobias: Hm?
Alec: We have two blue orbs and a green one that we don’t need. What are we going to do with it?
Tobias: Does it really matter?
Alec: Not really, but if we walk into the center building with an extra orb, especially a green one, we’re hurting our classmates’ chances of passing.
Tobias: Yes, I know, but if I’m being honest, I don’t really care.
Alec: Neither do I. I don’t want to just hand this thing out like we’re a charity or something; if our classmates can’t pass this exam on their own, then I don’t want them in our class.
Tobias: Agreed.
Alec: But it does feel like a waste carrying around an extra one.
Tobias: Yes… indeed it does.
Alec pulls their orbs out and stares at them.
Alec: How did your fight go, by the way? I never bothered to ask.
Tobias: Fine.
Alec: Geez, you’re so descriptive… at least tell me which of the 1-A losers you beat down for it.
Tobias: Your old friend…
Alec gets visibly frustrated.
Alec: That guy! And you didn’t think to come get me so that I could wipe him out myself!
Tobias: There was no need. He didn’t stand a chance against me.
Alec: That’s not the point, you dick! I wanted another crack at him, and now he will get kicked out of U.A., and I’ll never have my chance!
Tobias: For someone who refers to them as “1-A losers,” you sure aren’t very cutthroat with them.
Alec: What are you on about?
Tobias: You don’t want the gun head eliminated?
Alec: No! I want him gone, but I want to be the one to do it!
Tobias: Hm… so you want all of 1-A removed from the hero course, you say?
Alec: Y- yeah… of course, I do!
Tobias: Then why did you spare the ones that you defeated?
Alec doesn’t have a response.
Tobias: I would have thought someone who enjoys bloodshed as much as you could have taken that entire team out of this exam; instead, you left all three merely unconscious.
Alec: Yeah, whatever… I didn’t just leave them “unconscious,” the wounds that I inflicted upon them are hard to recover from, the bone guy probably can’t walk on his own, and the other two chicks aren’t going to be fighting at even 80%. Taking them out quickly isn’t my style. I set them up for a slow bleed out into failure.
Tobias smiles.
Tobias: Parts of that are true, but I can tell that you’re not giving me all of the details.
Alec places their two blue orbs back in their supply bag alongside the two canteens.
Alec: Believe what you want to believe.
Alec uses his scythe to make a small hole in the ground. Then, he rolls the green orb into it and covers it up.
Tobias: Why did you do that?
Alec: I’m tired of looking at that waste.
Alec grabs their supply bag and puts it on.
Alec: Let’s get moving again; the faster we pass this exam, the quicker I’ll be able to get away from you.
Tobias: The feeling is mutual.
Alec: You’re lucky you’re tough. I wanna kick your ass for taking away my chance at revenge.
Tobias: Who knows, maybe you’ll see that neanderthal’s face again outside of school.
Alec: Pfft, like I’m ever going to see that guy again.
A loud bang goes off.
Tobias: You might have spoken too soon.
Alec and Tobias both leap back as a mortar explodes between them.
Alec: (Fucking explosive prick!)
Alec lands on the ground, drops their supply bag, and charges downhill in the direction the mortar was fired from.
Alec: It’s time to settle the score!
The explosion's smoke clears. Tobias is standing still, completely calm.
Tobias: He really is a fool…
Alec runs through the forest, searching for Aaron.
Alec: Come out, come out wherever you are! I’m ready for round two!
Alec trips over a wire between two trees, dropping his scythe and triggering a trap that releases toxic smoke into the air surrounding him.
Alec: Resorting to stupid tricks, huh? That’s the mark of a weakling if I’ve ever seen it.
Gus emerges from the smoke.
Alec: Who the hell are you?
Gus picks up Alec’s scythe.
Alec: Hey, give that back!
Gus: Your quirk requires that you ingest blood from one of your opponents. Without this scythe to inflict wounds, you will have a tough time doing that.
Alec stands up and stares at Gus.
Alec: You’re fat.
Gus: LOOK, MAN, I GREW UP IN A DELI! IT WAS HARD NOT TO EAT!
Alec holds out his hand.
Alec: Give me my scythe right now, and I’ll only hurt you a lot.
Gus: What kind of deal is that?
Alec: A good one for me.
Gus: You’re talking big game for a guy trapped by my G2 tear gas!
Alec looks around at the clouds of smoke entrapping him.
Alec: G2, what does that mean?
Gus: One whiff of that gas will send a toxin through your body that will have you on the ground in just three short minutes.
Alec: That doesn’t scare me.
Gus: I- it… it doesn’t?
Alec: There’s a reason a roach like you needs to rely on cheap tactics to win.
Gus: Wh- why’s that?
Alec: You’re weak.
Alec draws his knife and throws it at Gus, who narrowly dodges it.
Gus: AH! That was close!
Alec is suddenly next to Gus.
Alec: What was close?
Gus: Oh crap!
Alec grabs Gus by the neck and slams him to the ground.
Gus: *choking*
Alec grabs his scythe and swings it in the air.
Alec: Now it’s time for some blood!
Gus stares up at Alec in fear.
A flashback begins. It’s the 2nd night of the exam. Aaron, Lilith, and Gus are sitting around their fire.
Aaron: Given our pace, we should catch up to them sometime tomorrow.
Lilith: But are we ready for that?
Aaron: No, we’re not.
Gus and Lilith are both surprised.
Gus: Then why are we putting all of our eggs in this basket! I don’t want to fail!
Aaron: The moment we lost our orb that first night, we were put into a dire situation. When your back is against the wall, you can’t be conservative. You have to swing for the fences; it’s the only way you’ll be able to get yourself out of that mess. If we beat them, we’ll have two orbs and be on track to pass the exam.
Lilith: So this is an all or nothing? That makes me worried, Aaron.
Gus: If we lose again, it’s over. We won’t make it to the end with enough orbs.
Aaron looks down at his hand and clenches his fist.
Aaron: That’s not going to happen.
Gus: How can you be sure, dude? We lost to ONE of them. This time we’re fighting both…
Aaron: Because I know what we need to do to win.
“ Tobias: Teams work with one another and help each other. You do neither of those things, you hope your team will help you, but you always try to do everything yourself. I knew this would devolve into you shooing off your teammates to try and engage me. “ - Chapter 67
Aaron: I can’t beat Tobias on my own. He’s stronger than me.
Lilith and Gus are taken aback.
Lilith: I uh… I never I’d hear you say those words in that order...
Gus: Yeah, it’s a little weird to hear…
Aaron: Trust me, I almost puked when I said it, but now isn’t the time for ego. Failure isn’t an option for this upcoming fight, and those two are a deadly combo.
Lilith: Well, at least you’ve already beaten that Alec guy before!
Aaron: Yeah, but this is different.
Gus: How so?
Aaron: His quirk isn’t at its best in a one-on-one fight. In fact, a fundamental aspect of the quirk’s power is entirely absent.
Lilith: What aspect?
Aaron: The reality is that you’re essentially hurting your teammate if you hurt him.
Lilith and Gus both get worried.
Aaron: I’m willing to go out on a limb and say that if he ensnares even just one of us in his quirk’s gruesome hold, we probably will lose the whole battle.
Lilith: S- s- s- so how do we win then?
Gus: Yeah, Aaron! You’re the strongest out of the three of us. How can we win if you can’t beat Tobias, and Alec could instantly end the fight using his quirk?
Aaron stands up.
Aaron: We have to separate them at the start of the fight, which honestly won’t be that hard. Alec wants a rematch with me. If he knows I’m around, he’ll come running. Tobias is stronger, but Alec’s quirk is the bigger issue, so we have to take him out of play first.
Lilith: Okay, and how are we going to do that? He can reduce all damage he receives to zero, remember? So the only way to take him out is with one shot that knocks him out cold.
Aaron: I know; I’ve already done it once.
Gus: But that was when you guys were linked. He will be watching out for that; we’ll need a completely new move.
Aaron: No… we don’t need a new one.
Lilith and Gus are both confused.
Lilith: What do you mean?
Aaron gets quiet.
Aaron: (I’ve already lost twice in this forest, I don’t want to lose again, not now, not ever. 5 months ago, I was definitely stronger than Hayze; I think I could have beaten him easily. My confidence is shaken, but I can’t let that cost me my spot in the hero course. I’ve worked too damn hard to let that happen. Lilith and Gus are counting on me as well. If I let my losses weigh me down and affect my leadership, I’ll never forgive myself. I’ll reassess after this exam, but I need to stay in the moment right now. I need to consider myself an equal to Lilith and Gus in terms of strength and plan accordingly.)
Aaron takes a deep breath.
Aaron: We will take a page out of Hayze’s playbook.
Lilith: Again, what do you mean?
Gus: Yeah, which play?
Aaron: The bait and smash.
Lilith and Gus both think for a moment before realizing what Aaron is talking about.
Lilith: You think it will work?
Aaron: It’s our best bet, but Gus?
Gus: Y- yeah?
Aaron: Whatever you do, don’t let Alec taste your blood.
The flashback ends.
Gus stares at the scythe descending upon him in fear.
Gus: (No, I can’t screw this up!)
Gus tries to exhale his smoke into Alec’s face, but the pressure of Alec’s grasp on Gus’ neck is too strong, and his airway is blocked.
Gus: (OH SHIT! OH FUCK!)
Gus panics and knees Alec in the balls.
Alec: AHHH!
Gus scurries away from Alec, who has fallen to his knees, holding his balls.
If you encounter this tale on Amazon, note that it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
Alec: YOU PIECE OF FUCKING SHIT! I WILL DISEMBOWEL YOU FOR THAT!
Gus: (I can’t believe I just used a girl move to get out of that… whatever, at least I can try to take him out myself!)
Gus tries to let out some smoke, but his throat is too sore.
Gus: (What!)
Alec: Trying to use your quirk? That’s not going to happen; there’s a reason I went for your neck.
Gus: *raspy sounding* I thought you didn’t remember me!
Alec: The smoke stuff jogged my memory. You’re the one who lost to that ghost girl in the last match of the first round, right?
Gus curls up in a ball in sadness.
Gus: She cheated, okay…
Alec: WHAT! NO, SHE DIDN’T!
Elsewhere, Aaron stands on top of a tree with his right arm transformed into a sniper rifle, looking at Alec through the scope.
Aaron: Good… Gus got away from him… ready Lilith?
In her tiny form, Lilith is standing at the end of Aaron’s gun barrel.
Lilith: As ready as I can be!
Aaron: Alright.
Aaron takes aim.
Aaron: (I’ve only got one shot at this…)
Lilith braces herself.
Aaron: (This guy’s going down!)
Aaron fires the shot. Lilith leaps on top of the bullet as it leaves the gun barrel and soars through the air atop it. The bullet is perfectly aligned to collide with Alec’s head.
Aaron: (She’s got it!)
Suddenly, Tobias leaps in the air and snatches the bullet.
Aaron: What!
Lilith, Alec and Gus are just as surprised. Tobias lands on the ground gracefully.
Alec: Woah... was the shot intended for me?
Gus: (OH FUCK!)
Tobias opens his fist and sees the bullet alongside Lilith.
Aaron: (The speed at which he was able to stop that bullet… he’s a fucking freak of nature.)
Tobias looks at his burnt palm.
Tobias: A small price to pay to keep my teammate in the exam.
Tobias grabs Lilith by the wings and tosses her aside.
Tobias: Weak girl.
Tobias turns his attention to Aaron.
Tobias: That was your big plan? To use the girl to crush Alec beneath her weight? I saw that coming a mile away, and I’m blind.
Aaron: *frustrated grunt*
Alec has a look of realization.
Alec: Wait a minute… this was all a setup!
Gus: He finally catches up…
Alec: SHUT IT, FATZO!
Tobias looks back at the toxic gas surrounding Gus and Alec.
Tobias: You wanted to knock Alec out right at the start so that you wouldn’t have to deal with both of us, so you trapped him in a toxic bubble and used your fat friend to distract him, all the while you were waiting to fire your friend and crush him. A decent attempt but not good enough.
Aaron: You just think you have it all figured out, don’t you.
Tobias: I’ve beaten you once already, and now, it’s time that I do it again.
Alec gets pissed.
Alec: HEY! HE’S MINE!
Tobias: Alec, you’re trapped inside that smokescreen until you can force that tub of lard to dispel it, I will fight this imbecile for now, and if you can break free, then I will happily relinquish my spot in the battle to you.
Alec: *frustrated grunt* Fine, deal!
Alec turns to Gus.
Alec: Ready to die?
Gus gulps.
Gus: Ah fuck…
Tobias leaps up and swipes at Aaron with his walking stick, but Aaron backflips off the branch to dodge. The two land on the ground simultaneously. Aaron stares down Tobias.
Tobias: You don’t have an orb for us to take, so we’ll just remove you from this exam to compensate.
Aaron: You’re not removing anybody.
Tobias: Oh really? There’s no way that you’ve become stronger than me in less than two days.
Aaron: No, there isn’t.
Tobias is surprised.
Tobias: Well, at least you learned your lesson from last time, I’m impressed, but that raises a rather important question, why did you follow me?
Aaron: Because I want my team’s orb back and then some.
Tobias laughs.
Tobias: I take back what I said. You’re still a fool.
Aaron: And why’s that?
Tobias: You came here wanting to get your orb back, but you also are well aware of your inferiority to me. You’ve tanked your team’s chances of passing this exam over a grudge, and that’s pathetic. I thought I was teaching you a lesson when I scraped you against the dirt and left your bloodied body lying against the cold ground, but instead, you somehow got worse. My job as a hero is to keep other heroes in line and correct those who are not. Unfortunately, you have no understanding of leading a team or even being a part of one. You simply prioritize your own desires over the greater good of your group. If you were actually allowed to become a hero, you’d probably endanger more civilians than you would save. You’re no hero; you’re just selfish.
Aaron silently stares at Tobias.
Tobias: No response? I see my words have paralyzed you.
Tobias smiles.
Tobias: You know I’m right.
Aaron reverts his sniper arm to normal.
Aaron: I’d be lying if I said that my defeat at your hands played zero part in me leading my team here, but trust me, I don’t do things unless I know there’s a chance I can win.
Tobias laughs loudly.
Tobias: I don’t even see how you could think that. You didn’t stand a chance against me on my own, and now you think you can defeat Alec AND me?
Aaron: I don’t think.
Tobias: Hm?
Aaron: I know.
Alec steps towards Gus.
Alec: Your quirk is restricted, and you don’t have the support of your teammates to bail you out, just lower the gas, and I’ll make your defeat quick and painless.
Gus: That isn’t very promising!
Alec: Quick and painless isn’t my style, so consider this a golden ticket!
Gus looks terrified as Alec continues approaching him. The flashback resumes.
Gus: So what happens if something goes wrong? Like we can’t just put all of our eggs in the Lilith crushing Alec basket, right?
Lilith: Yeah, Gus has a point. We’re kind of just ignoring Tobias in all this. What if he interferes with the shot?
Aaron opens their supply bag and starts rummaging through it.
Aaron: Honestly, I’m kind of expecting it.
Gus: Then- then why are we making this plan?
Aaron: Because if there’s one thing I can say for sure about that guy, he loves thinking he’s smarter than everybody else.
Aaron pulls out their knife.
Aaron: You guys remember what Hayze said during the Sports Festival, right?
“ Hayze: 1st rule of strategy: the first move is always a fake! “
Lilith: Yeah, I do.
Gus: So, crushing Alec is the fake?
Aaron: Tobias thinks we’re about as dumb as a box of rocks. Once he thwarts our first plan, he will assume he has the battle won. It’ll open up a window for us to be able to catch him off guard.
Aaron hands Lilith the knife.
Lilith: Wh- why do I need this?
Aaron: I’ll explain; just take it.
Lilith takes the knife. A little bit of time passes as Aaron explains the rest of the plan.
Aaron: And that’s it.
Lilith: Wow, that’s so smart.
Gus: If it works, this could be huge.
Aaron gets a stern look on his face.
Aaron: There’s only one problem, though.
Lilith: And what’s that?
Aaron: Alec needs to stab himself for this to work, and the only way he’s going to do that is because he knows he has one of us linked to him, which means…
Lilith: One of us has to sacrifice ourselves and be removed from the exam in the process.
Aaron: Yeah…
All three of them are silent for a few moments.
Aaron: I’ll-
Gus: I’ll do it.
Aaron is surprised.
Aaron: Gus?
Gus: If the plan has gone the way you said it would up to this point, I’m the one closest to Alec, which means it makes the most sense for me to let him drink my blood.
Lilith: But Gus-
Gus: But what? I’m the weakest one here. So if I get taken out, our chances of passing the exam are still high.
Aaron nods in agreement.
Aaron: (The truth is, I completely agree, but I didn’t want to be a dick and force him to do it.)
Lilith: Gus, you’re not the weakest. I-
Gus: Lilith, you can turn into a fucking skyscraper. You’re way tougher than I am.
Lilith goes quiet.
Gus: Look, I know it’s going to hurt, but I want to be a hero, we all want to be heroes, and if I need to get taken out of the exam to keep us in U.A., then that’s fine by me.
Lilith: Gus…
Aaron: Wow, I think this is the most initiative I’ve ever seen out of you.
Gus: What can I say, Aaron, your leadership has inspired me to pull my weight, and I know I won’t regret anything because I believe in you two to finish the exam without me.
Aaron smiles and offers Gus his hand.
Aaron: Well, you’ve earned my respect.
Gus shakes Aaron’s hand and turns to Lilith.
Gus: Lilith, you’re the only girl I respect.
Lilith: Awww, thanks! That’s- wait… what?
Gus: I finally will be able to say that I am a hero!
Lilith: Run that last part by me again.
Gus stands up.
Gus: Now, onward to victory!
Gus starts walking off.
Lilith: Gus… it’s still night.
Gus: Onward!
The flashback ends. Gus gulps; his fear is palpable.
Gus: (I want to be a hero, and even if it means a shitload of pain is in store for me… I WILL NOT LET AARON AND LILITH DOWN!)
Gus charges at Alec.
Alec: What the fuck!
Gus tackles Alec to the ground and starts wailing on him.
Gus: Stop! Calling! Me! Fatzo!
Alec: I ONLY DID IT ONCE!
Alec stabs his scythe into Gus’ back.
Gus: AHHH!
Alec rips his scythe out of Gus’ back and kicks him off himself.
Gus: *groans*
Alec starts laughing maniacally.
Alec: You’re fucked now, you moron!
Alec licks Gus’ blood off the scythe and grabs one of his knives.
Alec: It’s time to start cutting.
Aaron gets on his knees.
Tobias: What are you doing?
Aaron: You know what really bugs me about you? All you do is act like you’re better than everybody else like you have the moral high ground over every person you meet. All you are is a hypocrite. You gave Justus a lecture about acting high and mighty, which is your most defining trait. You got on your soapbox again to tell me how I don’t play well on a team, yet you fought me without yours. And now look! You let your teammate rush in by himself and nearly allowed him to be wiped out before you even stepped foot on the battlefield. You talk about how your job as a hero is to keep other heroes in line and correct those who are not. Well, I don’t see you correcting yourself.
Tobias stares at Aaron in silence for a few moments.
Tobias: “When the debate is lost, slander becomes the tool of the loser.”
Aaron: Cute quote. Too bad this isn’t slander; it's the truth.
Tobias starts walking toward Aaron.
Tobias: I guess my philosophy could use some work. I am trying to correct you after all.
Tobias reaches Aaron and looks down upon him.
Tobias: And once I’m done here…
Tobias winds back his walking stick.
Tobias: You won’t be a hero.
Suddenly, Tobias drops his walking stick, and Aaron smiles.
Aaron: Nice work, Gus.
A wound has opened up in Tobias’ chest.
Tobias: Wh- wh- what the hell?
Alec has stabbed himself in the same spot Tobias’ wound is located.
Alec: God, I love my quirk!
Gus also has the same stab wound.
Gus: *groans*
Tobias is shaking in fear.
Tobias: N- no… h- how-
Aaron uppercuts Tobias in the jaw, knocking him on his ass. Alec and Gus feel the same pain.
Alec: What the hell!
Gus smiles.
Gus: We got you good!
Gus puts the tips of his fingers together.
Gus: (Dispel!)
The smoke wall that separates Alec and Gus from Aaron and Tobias dissipates, and Alec sees Tobias on the ground.
Alec: What! What the hell happened!
Tobias looks back and sees the knife in Alec’s chest.
Tobias: No! How did you-
Aaron: When you snatched my sniper shot out of the air, you also grabbed Lilith. She was carrying a knife that she used to stab your hand and get a tiny bit of your blood on it. Your hand was already in pain from the bullet's heat, so you didn’t even feel the stab.
Tobias looks at his burnt hand and sees an extremely small incision with an almost unnoticeable amount of blood.
Tobias: Oh my god… but how did you-
Aaron: After you threw Lilith away, she flew over and watched Gus and Alec’s fight, waiting for the moment to strike where she could quickly fly by and place your blood on Alec’s scythe, unbeknownst to Alec, of course.
Lilith flew in when Alec stabbed Gus in the back, mixing Tobias and Gus’ blood.
Aaron: I think you can figure out the rest from there.
Tobias is in shock.
Tobias: You’re… you came up with a plan like that? How! You’re no-
Aaron: I’m not a big strategist, but I’ve fought both of you before, I know your tendencies, and I planned around them. It’s not hard to make a strategy when you know exactly what the people you’re fighting will do.
Tobias has no words.
Aaron: You’re speechless? That’s a first.
Alec looks pissed.
Alec: Godammit, Tobias! How the hell did you fuck this up that bad!
Tobias is silent from shock.
Alec: Whatever… I can still take all three of you out!
Alec points his scythe at Aaron.
Alec: It’s time for our rematch!
Aaron: No, it isn’t.
Alec: Wh- what are you-
Aaron whistles.
Alec: Huh?
Suddenly Lilith grows to her giant form directly above Alec.
Aaron: Let this be a lesson for you.
Lilith begins falling. Alec can’t escape in time.
Aaron: Nobody fucks with Aaron Zamora and gets away with it!
Suddenly a portal opens, and Houston comes blasting out of it and catches Lilith before she can land on Alec.
Alec: Mr. Houston!
Walker steps out of the portal.
Walker: This fight is over.
Alec: What!
Lilith returns to her standard size, and Houston lets her down.
Walker: This collision would have been deadly for both Gus and Tobias, given that they were linked to you. Therefore, this fight is over.
Houston: You lost Alec.
Alec: What! No, I-
Walker gives Alec a death stare, and he shuts up.
Walker: Per the rules, Gus and Tobias were protected from a fatal force, which means they are both eliminated from the exam. Come through the portal with me, boys.
Tobias doesn’t move. He looks catatonic.
Houston: *sighs* I’ll help Tobias...
Walker: Aaron and Lilith, say your goodbyes to Gus.
Aaron and Lilith walk over to Gus. Aaron helps him to his feet.
Aaron: You did good, buddy.
Gus: Thanks, Aaron.
Lilith: We won’t forget you, Gus!
Gus: I’d hope not… I’m going to see you guys in two days…
Lilith: Oh, right.
Aaron helps Gus over to the portal, Houston carries Tobias over.
Houston: Alright, let’s go.
Houston walks through the portal with Tobias. Aaron stares at Tobias with a smile on his face the entire time.
Gus: Cya guys… I’m glad I could help.
Aaron: So long, dude.
Lilith: See you soon!
Gus smiles and walks through the portal.
Walker: Alright, now the final order of business.
Walker closes the portal, opens a new one, and steps through it. He then returns with both blue orbs in his hands.
Walker: These are the orbs that Alec and Tobias are in possession of. They’re yours now.
Alec: *frustrated grunt*
Aaron takes the orbs.
Aaron: Wait a second… two blue orbs? Where’s the green one?
Walker: These are the orbs that Alec and Tobias are in possession of.
Aaron turns to Alec.
Aaron: Which of our classmates did you take this orb from!
Alec: Like I’d tell you.
Aaron: *frustrated grunt*
Lilith puts her hand on Aaron’s shoulder.
Lilith: Aaron, it’s okay. This is better. Now we can pass outright.
Aaron: I thought you were the one that was against taking orbs from our own class.
Lilith: We can’t do anything about it… the orbs are ours now, and he’s not going to tell us who he got it from.
Aaron: *sighs* I guess you’re right.
Walker: Now that that is taken care of, you two will have to leave.
Aaron and Lilith: Right.
Aaron and Lilith walk away.
Alec: What about me?
Walker pulls out a watch.
Walker: You’re in timeout for the next 2 hours.
Alec: What!
Walker: If Lilith’s attack connected, you would have been out cold much longer. Consider this a good thing.
Alec: *frustrated grunt*
Walker: You will not leave this spot for two hours. If we see you try, you’ll be eliminated from the exam, and because you’re the only member of your team left, you’ll be removed from the hero course as well.
Alec is silent and clearly pissed. Walker starts the stopwatch and opens a portal.
Walker: You can stew on that loss for the next two hours.
Walker leaves.
Alec: DAMN YOU, AARON!
Aaron and Lilith walk through the woods in the direction of the city. Aaron stares at the two blue orbs.
Lilith: Alright, so now all we have to do is get to the center building of the city, and we pass!
Lilith looks at Aaron and notices he’s in somewhat of a daze.
Lilith: Uh… Aaron, are you okay?
Aaron: Yeah… I’m fine.
Aaron continues starting at the second blue orb.
Aaron: (Who?)
