I was going to leave this tale as is, but thanks to a suggestion from a reader (Thank you, Silver!) I’m going to give some thoughts.
AHO was honestly the most technically difficult story I’ve written to this point. I usually write in first person, as it’s comfortable and familiar to me. Writing in the third person wasn’t really something I’d done before I began this tale. Since then, I’ve written another book (Y’all ain’t seen this one yet!) in the third person as well. Half of Necromancer’s Bond is in the third person, thanks to this tale.
I’ve also never done this amount of research for anything before, either. Weather reports for specific days, where bus lines stopped and what times, even down to the time it would take to walk to the various places in Kyoto. All of the places Markus and Akane visited actually exist, and you can go see them for yourself, if you want to. Hel, it even kick-started me to learning Japanese.
I took a little bit of creative license when it came to Sherry, Markus’ mother, and her placement at The Park Louisville. I’ve never been there, and I don’t know if it has a wing dedicated to medical care for advanced cases of terminal illness.
This story originates from a different website. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there.
If I were to see this made into a movie, I would definitely have Idris Elba play Amun Ra. I don’t think anyone else could do him justice. Lucifer could likely be played by Benedict Cumberbatch, and The Morrigan by possibly Christina Ricci.
Will this tale return? Will we see the conclusion of Markus’ training? What was that book that Lucifer gave him?
Eventually. My life has become more full of late. I’m finding myself having to adapt to roles I didn’t think would be coming. My health is becoming more of an issue as the years creep up on me, and the world is… gestures vaguely…. Yeah.
I hope to return to this tale, and when I do, it’ll be just as good, if not better, than this book was.
From the deepest recesses of my heart, thank you for reading.
