Ban could hear someone laughing, but she wasn’t sure who it was. All she knew was that she wanted to meet her brother.
“Dit...”, she murmured again. There wasn’t anyone there who could hear her properly. Anyone except one.
“Looking for someone?”
“Dit...”
“I can fulfill your wishes, but there are a lot of conditions that you need to fulfill!”, the voice spoke. Ban could barely see anyone but even then she knew that this voice. It wasn’t there. Her eyes looked around, as Dave and the others came near them.
“Dit...”
“Oh.”, Dave stopped in front of Ban. “Looks like she’s completely out of it...”, he added with a sad expression.
“Does it matter?”, Orph replied while getting up from the ground and rubbing off the dirt on his body.
Dave sighed, “Nice job taking her out.”
Orph looked down, “It wasn’t just me...”, he paused for a moment before looking back at Dave, “The injuries you gave her... helped. I doubt that I would’ve taken her out if you hadn’t fought her before.”
Dave left out a somber smile, “Nice job, regardless.”
“Is she alive...?”, asked Cess who just walked in and went in front of Ban, gasped and added, “...Being dead is better than that...”
“She was a slave trader, she got what she deserved.”, said Orph.
“Besides... It’s not like I killed her.”, he added.
“Did you not hear what I just said...”, Cess replied.
Orph looked straight at her and didn’t speak for a moment before adding, “I heard what you said...”
Cess looked at him.
“...But this... I didn’t mean to ignore you, it’s... this person deserves far worse.”, he looked as if the rage that was In his eyes hadn’t vanished yet.
“Orph...”
Orph kept looking at Cess for a few additional moments before turning around.
“Where’s Eric?”, asked Orph, looking around hectically. Cess decided to leave him for now. Maybe being alone for some time would do him good and chose to report back to Dave.
The narrative has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the infringement.
“Dave...”, said Cess as she screamed a few moments later when she saw Ogre standing right behind him, “Who’s that giant Ogre?”
“Oh!”, Dave smiled and looked behind, “That’s Ogre. Once his slave collar came off, he didn’t want to fight anymore.”
“Ogre!”, said Ogre.
“He’s a very good guy when you get to know him!”, Dave smiled as he patted Orph’s back.
“Ogre!”, Ogre replied happily.
The royal guards had put out the fire and started to rest in a village almost destroyed. The village which was full of people living their lives was now filled with people screaming in tears.
The villagers gathered around, “Who did all of this...”, asked one of them. “Where’s the elder...?”, asked another.
Orph groaned, “It was her.”, as he pointed towards Ban.
“The one who destroyed the whole village burned it to the ground.”, he added as Eric joined them from the bushes nearby. While the villagers gathered around Ban, with Dave and Cess trying their best to keep them at bay.
“Eric!”, Orph screamed as he ran towards him. “Are you alright?”, he asked.
Eric nodded and asked the same of the others there, who all nodded in return.
Dave heard Cess’ report, “The dog was a spy and the person who died was also a slave trader, but he opened the slave collars with his slave key that he always had?”
“Then the dog and another slave who’s now free are crying?”, he added.
“Oh.”, Eric walked over. “There’s another slave who’s now probably free, that I tied up to a tree.”
Dave patted both Eric and Cess, “Good work everyone. Looks like we’re done here as soon as we take care of the rest of the slaves who’re now free.”, he smiled.
"Let's get to it then!", Orph replied, eagerly. He couldn't wait to finally meet them, the people who he'd lost contact with. The people who he still felt guilt for.
Dave pondered as Ban let out another, “Dit...?”
“Look at all of them blabbering about, disturbing our conversation! People these days!”
“So where were we?”, added the mysterious voice.
“Dit...”
“You’d think that you’d get bored of saying the same thing over and over again but here we are.”
“Dit...”
“Alright.”, said the voice as it plucked Ban’s consciousness out of its body.
Ban groaned, “Where am I...?”, she asked before adding, “I feel nothing...”
“That’s just a side-effect of losing your body.”
“Losing my body... what... who are you?”
“Just someone who wants to help you! Is there anything you want help with?”, the voice asked eagerly.
“Just so we’re clear, we’re making a deal, and this isn’t some charity.”, the voice added eagerly.
“I want to see Dit...”, said Ban without missing a beat.
“Seeing Dit it is then.”, said the voice as it transported Ban to Dit’s lifeless body.
“Dit!”, Ban screamed as she rushed towards Dit.
“What happened...?”, she asked as tears rolled down her face. She could finally feel something, but it was just sadness and regret. She tried to touch Dit’s body but failed as her hands passed through it. She was so shocked that she didn’t even see Slav and Doug standing right beside her. She didn’t realize they were there when they started to move away either.
“Dit!”, she cried and screamed. Not being able to handle or process her emotions, as she started to fade away.
“A deal’s a deal.”, said the voice.
“Don’t worry... I will give you another chance... ”, the voice added as it started to laugh overpowering Ban’s sobbing which soon started to fade away, soon the laughter was all that could be heard.
