The Dealer came towards them.
He had a closer look before speaking, “Neither of you looks like you belong here.”
“Let me assure you, there is no other place we belong more.”, replied Ban while laughing.
The dealer smirked and said, “Oh? Is that so?”
“I’ll take your word for it then”, he added.
Ban took out the poster she picked up from back then and showed it to the dealer.
The dealer smiled, “Future associates then!”
“Heh, how do you know that we’re going to be future associates then?”, asked Ban while laughing.
“It’s this feeling that I have...”
Dit looked at that man, he could say that something was off but couldn’t tell what was.
The dealer looked at Dit and said, “Your companion feels wary of me...”
Dit took a step back.
“Is it because of the teleporter...?”
Sweat kept rolling down Dit’s face.
“A magical instrument you see!”, said the dealer while teleporting right behind Dit.
Dit screamed at the top of his lungs.
The dealer laughed but Ban didn’t follow suit.
“My apologies, maybe this harmless joke was not as harmless as I intended it to be.”, said the dealer while still laughing.
“Before we get down to business... I’d like to know your names.”, he added.
“This is Dit and I’m Ban.”
“I see, interesting names you have there.”
“What are you called?”
“I have many names...”, he laughed.
“But my friends call me Esting.”
“Alright, Esting. Any idea where I could find these slaves of yours?”, asked Ban.
“I will tell you... but before that, are none of you curious about how I teleported?”, replied Esting while pointing towards the ring he was wearing.
“Really? No one?”, he added.
“Just tell us-”
“You see, this ring uses an energy stone and sacrifices all its power to work, which in this case would be teleporting.”, said Esting, not letting Ban finish what he was going to say.
“Interesting... Where can we find your slaves?”, replied an agitated Ban.
Esting pondered upon the reply for a few moments, went towards his desk, and took out some papers which he looked at. He then threw the papers toward Ban and Dit, which both of them caught.
This story has been taken without authorization. Report any sightings.
“You’ll find it there.”, said Estings, trying his best to control his anger.
He sat down on his chair before speaking, “Do not disappoint me.”
Ban and Dit went out of the shop, through the door this time.
“I think we made him mad.”, said Dit.
Ban laughed and replied, “Heh, we probably did Dit.”
She looked towards Dit and continued, “As long as he pays us our money... our fair share, we will have no problems.”
Dit nodded in return.
“So, the slave is somewhere here. Right in the middle of the marketplace?”, asked Ban.
“If you were a slave on the run... Let’s just hope the information is right!”, she added and screamed.
They walked around for a while before someone caught Dit’s eye.
“Isn’t that him...”
“You’re right, it is him!”, Ban replied, smiling.
The man looked behind and noticed Ban and Dit running towards him, he got scared and started to run.
Going through various alleys but it wasn’t enough, he could see that they were closing the distance.
Soon enough, the man got tired and stopped to catch a break. Ban and Dit soon got to where he was.
“Got nowhere to run now?”, asked Ban.
The man took his time to catch his breath before replying, "Why... W-Why are you chasing me?”
Ban laughed and took out the poster she had in her pockets.
“Why else?”, she replied.
“Slave Hunters?”, the man replied with shock.
“No- No this can’t be... I’m under the protection of the Bel Re gang...”, he continued.
“The Bel Re gang?”, asked Dit.
“It doesn’t matter what gang protects you...”, replied Ban.
She went near the man and punched him, knocking him out before speaking, “...from us.”
She picked up the unconscious man on her shoulders and looked towards Dit who looked at her with shock.
“What?”
“Let’s get out of here before more trouble shows up.”, she added.
Dit nodded.
Both went back to Esting’s place with their job complete.
“Oh... you’re back!”
A familiar voice greeted them.
Ban laughed and replied, “Of course we are.”
She threw the man on the ground and continued, “Here’s what you were asking for.”
Esting’s bend over.
“Nice. Nice. The commodity isn’t damaged at all.”
He smiled.
“Were there any problems with... the job?”, he added.
Ban laughed and replied, “Problems?”, and then she smiled again.
Esting smirked.
“He said he was protected by the Bel Re gang.”, said Dit.
“OH! He speaks.”, replied Esting.
“I thought you were mute”, he added while going towards Dit before getting stopped by Ban.
“Back off.”
Esting smirked again, “An overprotective sister!”
He put his hands up and backed away.
“Either way, you both deserve praise for a job... well done.”
“I hope this Is the beginning of a very fruitful relationship.”, he added while giving both their fair share.
----------------------------------------
“Esting... Our time together was certainly interesting.”, Dit thought to himself while staring at the sky. It was almost nighttime.
The night always reminded him of Babour, and the time he spent there working directly for Esting with his sister.
“Those certainly weren’t bad times...”
----------------------------------------
That was the only time Esting asked them to catch a slave. Most of their time was spent being a bodyguard at the shop or roughing up people who wouldn’t pay their fair share.
It wasn’t a pretty job, but it paid well.
It was also the first time since forever Dit saw his sister happy. It felt like she had given power, power enough to be free from her past. Their past.
At least that was the start of it, or so he thought.
