A Challenged Man's Ascension
Blake the Fashion Victim

Blake the Fashion Victim

Gentle light traversed a window and showered a room with its warm brightness. Welcoming the pleasant heat upon his body, a man lightly smiled as he was lying on a bed, his eyes set upon the ceiling. Light noise were coming from a screen, while news were being displayed on the electric device.

"It is now official, more than 60% of humanity has 'awakened'. As the numbers grow, so are the restrictions on their freedom. As such, since the beginning of the mass awakening four weeks ago, governments decided to pass harsher laws in order to force these awakened into fighting against the 'Traversers'. People share different opinions against such measures. However, in one popular study about the current events, it was found that more than half of the participants were for allowing restrictive laws against awakeners.

A logical result caused by the first living 'traverser' coming out from a red portal and going on a rampage in a small town in Texas, which only a few resident managed to survive the horrible onslaught.

"Since then, more and more of these creatures appeared and provoked unimaginable casualties."

Before the screen, a man was seemingly talking to empty air as he was delightfully bathing himself in the morning light.

[The System disapproves of Host's plan]

[Unknown variables may bring harm to his person]

"You know very well why I'm doing this, that kid will be a real monster in the story's late stages. Even if I manage to assemble most of the author's additional skills and weapons, a confrontation with him won't be easy."

As he talked, Blake squinted his eyes at no one in particular, "And a certain someone recently told me that quests aren't available in this world, meaning I can't rely on them to obtain SP, and buy those rule breaking items you incessantly show me whenever I get into the shop."

A dissatisfied expression appeared on Blake's face as he reminisced.

[Host chose this world and memorized most of its important history]

[He is the third being with the most knowledge about this reality]

[Therefore, relying of the System's quests for additional help is detrimental for his growth as he will not fully exploit his advantage]

A dutiful system answered Blake's complaint for the hundredth time.

"Of course, I wouldn't care much about the plot if I could just become a pay to win and use my SP to murder my way towards godhood." The man flatly said, his half closed eyes casually looking at the ceiling.

"Take this plan as a 'Just in case I meet him' strategy. Because If I manage to stay alive until 'that' day, he will become wary of me."

[The butterfly effe-]

"It will be minimal, if my plan works that is." Smiling at nothingness, the man proclaimed.

"Do you trust my plan?" His gaze focused, he asked.

[Negative]

[But as the System, it is his duty to have faith in the Host, therefore]

[The System trusts the Host]

Slowly, the disembodied voice replied in a tone, that only the century old Blake could comprehend.

With a light smile, the man got up from the comfy bed and began stretching his arms.

"Great, then let's begin. Noah is about to start his 'training' in a few days."

"Also, buy 6 more super shirts and pants, you already know my favorite colors." Blake asked as he got into a push up position.

[Affirmative]

[12,000 SP will be deducted]

Hearing this, Blake stopped his series, his face reflecting the pain of losing his hard earned rewards.

"I feel like I'm spending thousands of bucks for a few shirts. But even with the price doubled, I'd still buy them. Fighting half naked wasn't a good experience." The retired Massacrer thought out loud as he was reminiscing his time in Zek'nir.

Continuing his morning routine, the man talked to his ever present roommate.

'Now that I think about it, why didn't my pants get shredded into pieces at that time? I've received a lot of corrosive attacks down there.'

Curiously wondering, Blake switched to a sit up position.

[The system protected that specific area as the Host would be distracted by his reve-]

"Okay, I get it. You pulled out a green giant pants logic on me." Suddenly interrupting the System, the man distractedly changed topics.

"Them why am I forced to buy these clothes if you can just protect normal ones."

[The special quest was an exception]

[Host can now purchase clothing with high durability via the system shop]

The roommate briefly explained, which depressed the man as he looked at the special clothes description.

Assimilation (Shirt, Pants, shoes, underwear...): Even gods are afraid of losing their apparels during their legendary battles. Investing as much as they would invest in their weapons, they forged powerful clothing to protect their godly dignity.

Replicate the buyer's attributes up to 80% and embodies wearers other than the Host of Its attributes, as long as they have two sets of clothing equipped.

Cost: 1000 SP

"These descriptions are so vague, System. It copies even my other attributes, but why? You make it seem like I can use them as weapons."

Blake's mind wandered as he imagined himself launching underwear after underwear at his frightened enemies. As weapons of mass destruction, they would bring shame and despair upon the battlefield. Unwilling foes would look in indignation as they are about to get shredded into pieces by their opponents underpants, and maidens would falter at the sight of Blake removing his clothes for more munitions.

And when they would think the powerful man used up all his resources, new garnements will appear from his naked being, which he will erratically remove and launch once again at the anguished opponents. A smile appeared and Blake lightly chuckled.

[Affirmative]

[Host would be able to utilize the purchased clothes as weapon alternatives]

His series stopped once again and the man looked at thin air.

"Seriously?" The bemused Blake asked.

[Affirmative]

"Oh boy."

Blake suddenly stopped his previous routine and quickly opened the items tab. And under the invisible gaze of the system, like a fashion victim during sales, the man furiously began purchasing various piece of clothing with a maniacal grin on his face.
