A Protagonist's Death

A Protagonist's Death

Abundant downpour encompassed a whole metropolis as heavenly lightning slithered towards earth in rapid strikes. In the Olan District, droplets of water dropped and produced myriads of sounds. Sizzling noises could be heard around a scarlet haired woman, her being releasing hellish amounts of heat as crimson radiance embraced her whole body. In a mid distance, a granite warrior was fiercely clashing with a screeching pale figure.

Cracks and fractures were omnipresent on the summon's granitic body as a missing arm made of rock lied not far away from the titans' clash. Putrid, greenish liquid oozed from a rocky giant fist. Another attack was sent, and gush of winds were unleashed as the iron fist connected once again.

*RRRHHHAA*

A monster howled in anger as viridescent fluid flowed from various gashes on its body. Its scorched body made the traverser hatefully look at a blazing woman not far away. Before it could retaliate however, another volley of bullets hit the monster limbs, some of them even hitting its head. Maddened, the beast horizontally swung its robust claws, and turned a sturdy humanoid boulder into pieces of rubbles.

"I'm out of bullets!" A blond teenager yelled and quickly distanced himself from the traverser, and positioned himself behind a fiery Eva.

At the same moment, two fireballs swiftly passed beside the fallen summon and violently burst upon contact with the monster. Agonizing screeching followed the dual deflagration. Sizzling of flesh was faintly heard as the torrential rain slightly appeased the traverser's burns. Breath became more irregular and abundant steam soared from the monster's body. The next moment, another gunshot was heard and bullets after bullets accurately hit the traverser's face.

*Bang* *Bang* *Bang*

Having exceeded his own limits, the beast loudly dropped on the humid floor, where abundant greenish blood was quickly being washed away by the rainfall.

Not far away, the blond woman Evelyne lightly breathed, while a gold patterned handgun was releasing light fume on her hands. Emerald aura shrouded her existence as the same color brightly glowed in her solemn eyes.

"Did we get him?" Eva asked, her breathing difficult as she scrutinized the still sizzling traverser. But before anyone could respond, a commotion was heard from a far distance; bright attacks appeared and disappeared in quick successions, while inhuman screeching was occasionally heard.

"It must be the awak-"

"Eva!!"

Evelyne abruptly screamed as her emerald eyes desperately looked at a tongue swiftly piercing the air and heading towards Eva. Highly exhausted by the fight, her reflexes couldn't keep up to the fast approaching appendage. She unconsciously closed her eyes and...

The tongue perforated a body, Eva however, did not feel any pain. His eyes again once opened, a desolated scene was displayed before her emerald eyes. A crimsoned tongue penetrated a blond haired teenager's chest, while the latter was standing before the stunned Eva. The elongated muscle came out from the other side and stopped a few inches from another's body.

Before she could fully comprehend the situation, boiling anger, intense wrath took possession of the woman. Untapped rage ignited her body once again; Her greenish eyes turned back to a fiery crimson shade as her fists glowed of an iridescent scarlet fire. And with an unnatural speed, she quickly arrived before a traverser, whose burned face was smiling as if satisfied of its last deeds.

And like a devastating comet, a blazing fist plunged into the monster's skull. Feeling slight resistance, another fist welcomed the traverser.

"AAAHHH!!"

A volley of punches fuelled by sheer rage alone landed on the dying traverser. Steam abundantly came out from both opponents as Eva used every bit of her power to annihilate the traverser. And with a final hit, a cracking sound resonated and a monstrous head was perforated, his insides quickly turning into ashes.

*Huff* *Huff* *Huff*

"Noah."

Fighting the urge to fall on her knees, she turned around, and in the somber rainfall, she saw a sobbing mother and a black haired woman, surrounding a lying Noah. She slowly approached, while a desolate scene was being reflected on her viridescent eyes.

"Please, please... hang on Noah, hang on." Green light was emerging from a distressed mother as she placed her hands on the bloody hole of Noah's chest. Hands quivered as the teenager grew paler and paler.

"Mom..."

A weak voice came out, making the mother even more alarmed. Using every bit of energy In her, she tried closing the large gape, but to no avail.

"Damnit... DAMNIT!! What's the point of these useless powers!!"

Droplets of water and salt fell on the bleeding Noah, indistinguishable liquid gently hit the blond's body as his breathing grew slower.

Both three women looked at Noah, various emotions reflecting on their faces; anger, sadness, regret, guilt.

As Eva was about to say something however...

A whirlwind started to form around Noah, growing larger and larger as seconds passed by, a seemingly impossible manifestation where no wind was perceived. After encompassing the whole group, it finally stopped its growth, and kept a fast yet gentle revolving motion. Multifarious colors appeared one after another, each one merging, splitting and repeating the process over and over. Everyone incredulously looked at the source, Noah. The latter had a dazed look on his face and as his eyelids felt more and more heavy, he weakly chuckled.

"Hehe... You gotta be sh*tting me."

These lasts words proclaimed, the man closed his eyes, and before everyone's unbelieving gazes, he began disappearing. Clothes, body, weapons. Anything on Noah began to dissipate, his being slowly turning into particles of light as a smile made its way on his pallid face.

"Noah... NOAH!!"

Evelyne dreadfully looked at her child. She firmly gripped, hugged and embraced, to no avail. She desperately looked at her son, a part of her world, fading under her unwilling eyes.

And with the last particle soaring towards the heaven, a mother hugged herself under an abundant, heavenly rainfall.

A chapter ended and another began, and above the actors, was a spectator silently 'gazing' at everything.

*Sigh* "This is depressing, I'll have to see that kind of things over and over again. Am I a villain for letting these events happen?"

[Host knows the consequences of interfering]

"I know, I know but seeing it with my own eyes...damn."

Empty cups and bottles lied beside the man as thoughts freely ran on his mind.

"'ll try to make up for it if I survive till the end. Like the saying says, you take some, you give some."

[Negative]

[The right saying is to get some]

[And to lose some]

A rebuttal from the system and Blake turned his gaze away from the previous battle, and glared at empty air.

"I'm not going to debate some Mandela effect with you, system. But I believe that my saying is the right one.

[Negative]

"Ok, listen you little..."

As rain kept hitting a greyish tent, contrasting events were both happening not far away from each other.
