Chapter 9 - Our Plan

Chapter 9 - Our Plan

The atmosphere was heavy, my saviour or my “mother” rather, sat on one side with her arms and legs crossed while [God] or Silvio as Bea calls [him], sat on the other.

“...well?”

It was a simple question, but hearing her tone made Silvio flinch. He’s now sweating profusely and started to fidget.

“...Umm… yeah… so…”

Looking up to the angry Bea, he coughed and nervously explained. Somehow, Bea knew that time stopped, and for some reason, angry that Silvio did so.

“... ehem… remember the reason I brought you here?”

He looked at me and back to Bea.

Reason?

“So he’s…”

She looked at me knowingly and she directed a warm smile towards me. She then reached for my head and patted me softly. I cannot seem to count the many times I felt that favorable itch in my heart. A nostalgic feeling that makes my face turn loose with a smile.

“It seems that I’m your mother now, Lex.”

With a face full of glee she continued to pat my head.

Bea’s my mother…?

I have a mother in this lifetime, I will never meet her but I did have a mother, nonetheless.

I also had a mother in my previous life even if we’re not related by blood. Even though I shared her with dozens of other kids, I’m sure she truly loved me as one of her children...

Then why does the idea of having a stranger, my saviour, as my mother, makes my still-heart fill with a sudden burst of expectations… no… anticipation?

No, that’s not it either…

...excitement….?

“Well then, I guess I should give you one of his features then?”

Features? Silvio cut off my train of thought.

“I need to make you two look like each other and I’ll make sure to erase the memories of the people who knew about you. However, I’m unable to erase those with direct blood-relations towards you…”

With a snap of his finger, a sudden force triggered a change in the surroundings. Then, in an instant, everything reverted back like nothing happened.

“Now, nobody should remember you aside from your father.”

“Father” one of the words I’ve never known both from my past life even till now. All I’ve heard were stories and felt nothing but envy.

“Father huh? If so, will Silvio be the father?”

With her sudden question, both me and Silvio stared at her with mouth agape. Why would I want any relations with this arrogant God?!

“Why would I want any relation with this defiant boy?!”

I was shocked at his words as if he timed it together with my thoughts.

“Well, you have whitish-silver hair almost similar to his snowy fluffy hair so if we’re talking about features aren’t you the nearest existence as a relative to him?”

With sound logic, she stated pointing at Silvio’s hair and caressing my hair lovingly.

“Hmmm… well, I do love Lex’s snowy-hair, but my husband used to love my tawny hair, so as much as possible I don’t want to change it.”

“Isn’t it fine to just say your husband died leaving you two alone? Well, his hair is the result of my power dwelling in him thus it’s not entirely wrong.”

I see, so the reason I couldn’t inherit any of my parent’s features is due to his power. But even without that, I don’t resemble either my mother or my father. I look completely like how I was in my previous life.

“Then, won’t you change mine to match with Bea, I mean… mo,mother?”

She smiled and lifted me from the chair and sat me on her lap. She then patted my head making me feel embarrassed with her sweet calming scent.

“I would love to do so, but I cannot.”

Silvio sighed. He propped his face with his hands on the table.

“Your hair was due to my power dwelling inside you, but the rest of your features were already a part of your soul. Your face, your body type, everything was because it was imprinted.”

Imprinted? So Bea... I mean mother’s isn’t?

“Your soul is much more stubborn than you think. So it’s easier for me to change Bea’s features since I had to remake her body to be able to handle living here.”

Remade her body?

“What about the eyes? It’s distinct enough that we can just change that part.”

“Yeah, anything’s fine, really, I just want to keep my hair, as it is.”

Agreeing with Silvio, my mother’s eyes were changed to match my blood-red eyes.

After that, they had a long tedious talk of how we should live moving forward. It may be because I’m still a child right now but my stamina seemed to reach its limit and I barely heard what they talked about.

All I remember was that we would be visiting the nearest human town to buy supplies...

Feeling a crunchy sway amidst the cold winds, I saw my mother’s back walking through the snow.

“Hey there sleepyhead, you can sleep some more. We’re almost home.”

Lovingly, she continued walking on the crunchy snow.

“Mother, I would like to go down please.”

She giggled but continued on.

“My, how polite. But I’d love it if you’d call me with something more familiar like ‘mom’ or ‘mama’ instead. ‘Mother’ seems too formal for me...”

Mom or mama? Does it make a difference?

“Then… mom…?”

Out of nowhere, a sudden flush of heat filled my face. Just saying the word made me feel embarrassed.

I mean, in both lives, I did have individuals whom I called mother, but not once was I able to call them ‘mom’.

“That’s much better. Now hush, you can go back to sleep. I’ll wake you when it’s time for dinner.”

As if on cue, I felt groggy and fell back to sleep, swaying with the crunch of my mom’s every step under the cold blanket of snow.
