Chapter 7 - The boy, my son

Chapter 7 - The boy, my son

“Hey hun, will you come with me wherever I go?”

My husband said so while I was washing the dishes. I turned towards the table behind me seeing my husband drinking coffee with sparkles in his eyes.

“Hmm… depends… will you go to a hot place?”

“Why? You won’t go if I go somewhere like Egypt?”

“I will. I just want to be prepared, that’s all.”

After I said so, he started humming the recent song he heard about some summer paradise.

“What about a cold place?”

He asked, looking at his cooled coffee.

“Cold? I like cold places… hmmm, somewhere up north like Russia? Let’s trek mount Belukha then!”

“....”

“.... ….”

“...so?”

“Huh?”

With a dumbfounded look on his face, he stopped humming.

“Where do you want to go?”

In response to my question, he wore a triumphant face and drank the now cold coffee he was holding.

“Of course, it’ll be in another world!”

Remembering that conversation, I still can’t believe that I would be the one to go to another world.

After we had tea, we continued walking towards the shrine. I had a guess but I never thought that this boy would be, well, should’ve been my son.

I held his hand seeing he’s having a hard time walking with my boots on, he would then look down with his ears red from embarrassment. It’s so adorable that I had to hold myself back from hugging him!

Dear me, I need to get it together. I never realized my motherly instincts would kick in as soon as I saw him covered in snow. I feel the unconditional need to protect him and keep him safe from everything!

Still, I need to report this to Silvio. Even if he’s the one who gave that oracle or whatever, I still want to know what to do next.

“What about Alexander?”

Since he was supposed to be my child, shouldn’t I give him the name my husband wanted to give when we had a son?

“Alexander?”

“We can shorten it to Lex. It was a name that unified and conquered countries from my hometown. My late husband loved these kinds of things, so he loved how Alexander the Great conquered so many countries by the age of 30.”

There was also Leonardo but he wanted Alexander for his firstborn. If he was here would this kid be our firstborn?

So if Warren liked Chinese history, would our son be really named after Ying Zheng (嬴政)?

I mean, I said it as a joke but now I’m afraid of having our son teased. Not that it matters here.

But, does it sound old fashioned? Maybe something more modern, like one of the recent world-renowned people when I was still back home?

“...”

Oh dear, he’s gone quiet. As I thought, it sounds too corny. I guess we’ll just have to ask--

“Can I live up to that name…?”

The boy held my hand tightly in deep thought. His pale white skin, snowy white hair and ruby-red eyes looks like that of a snow rabbit.

He’s just so adorable! I can’t believe such an adorable child with such features be born in this world! If I bore him, will he still look like this, I wonder?

Does that even matter? Having green eyes or black eyes don’t matter! I’d love him nonetheless.

“Does it matter? I think what matters is what you do as a person. Alexander the Great just did what he felt like doing, so he conquered cities and countries. So if you want to be the very same Alexander the Great, we’d have to conquer this whole world now don’t we?”

As I said so, he looked up and I winked at him playfully.

“Hehe… I guess so…”

“Sooo… We’ll conquer this country first?”

I said it as a joke but as soon as he heard it, he shook his head with his face getting even paler than it already is, trying to deny what I just stated.

“Eh? But world conquest is every man’s romance, isn’t it? I mean, that was my husband’s fantasy…”

As I said so, he shook his head even more. I giggled as I teased him all the way to Silvio’s altar.

I guess the boy’s name is now Alexander… Lex… my son…?
