Chapter033

- Obviously you need time to reflect about all of this, but talking about time take us back to the gift Ausas and me want to give you.

The room around us three changed again, in a blink of an eye, when the blond man rose and stood next to Llanfil. From a modern, glass walled, meeting room everything shifted to a more fantasy location. The gigantic round room, surrounded by enormous columns of blue light, gave me the feeling of being inside a temple of some kind. Looking better I realized that what formed the seamless half sphere, that formed the ceiling and wall, wasn't a solid material, it was water.

The change the couple in front of me went through was astonishing, on par with the  fact we were in a giant underwater sanctum. Ausas went from the look of a nordic young man, casually dressed, to the appearance of a mid aged, bearded, "barbarian king". Fur-lined trousers and mantle, iron crown and a huge pronged spear ensemble gave him that kind of "vibe".

Llanfil underwent a similar shift. If the first time I saw I found her beautiful, in that new form she was even more dazzling. Just like before she wore a colorful sari, but seeming far more rich of detailed, gold threaded, embroidery. She retained her youthful external appearance, but her eyes, full of a mix of emotion, that made her look far more mature.

The two of them together, dissimilar but also strangely matched, were imposing like being in the presence of real leaders.

- Our gift to you is something even we don't have anymore, we give you a choice. You can decide to stay here, in our home, in a ever changing place, where we can create everything we want. Or you can go outside, into the world, to see and feel new things.

Any of the road you will take have our blessing. We can't leave this place so we will not be with you if you choose to leave, but we will make sure to give you all the help we can. You can take all the time you want to resolve yourself we will be happy to have you as a guest.

I had to admit I was at loss of words, but even with my growing confusion I was sure of one thing.

This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.

- I thank you for your gift, and your words, but I want more details if I have to take an informed decision. Also I understand the importance of this decision, even without the whole super serious set, and I will think about it carefully, but I don't think I will be able to bear all this pressure. Sure here, I finally understand better your standing, but a more simple setting will help me.

As soon as I ended talking a huge serpentine form appeared into the water outside the room. As it came closer the real proportion, and features, of the sea monster appeared clear. Even if the room was big like a stadium the creature was able to coil around it. The only solace was that it seemed that the monster could not enter inside.

I continued to stare at the huge sea serpent. It resembled more an oriental dragon, covered in bone plates and protrusion, than any other creature I ever saw. Then a giggle, and a loud laugh, interrupted my fearful study.

- Your face just now was priceless!

The merry of Ausas was cut short by an elbow that doubled him over, said elbow was Llanfil's. She sure was merciless.

- Sorry for the interruption, I should've known better, what you see here is the first avatar of my foolish half. He always grow playful when he's ignored. I'm sorry if he startled you, but he's here to rest and recharge. I share your idea of changing to a more comfortable surrounding.

When Ausas stopped coughing and composed himself, the blow was really stronger than I first thought, the room transformed again.

We returned in the first stage, steaming pancakes included. The normal room was hopefully going to be far more relaxing for another discussion. But first, even with all my will, I couldn't resist to partake in the breakfast they were already vigorously attacking.

I must admit eating after so much time had a very calming effect on me, the fact that the food was heavenly helped though. When all of us finished I started to ask the questions that were bugging me.
