"Ryan! Are you okay?"
Arci immediately flew over to me, seeing my injuries, it exclaimed.
"Your hand! We must administer first aid immediately!"
"Dont worry, I have some."
Dain then took out a vial, it had green liquid inside it.
"Here, rub it over your injuries..."
I took the vial, opened its wooden cap, and then started to rub the liquid on my wound. It felt soothing, and I could feel the pain diminishing. However I was feeling a completely different emotion inside.
Regret.
I looked down at the scene of carnage below me. It seemed like a slasher film. The blood was everywhere,
It was still pouring from the dead body. The starlight that went through the tree's illuminated the corpse.
(Why... Why did I stab it so much?)
I knew I had to survive, but I felt disappointed over myself. It was already dead. I kept stabbing its dead corpse. I was ashamed of myself.
"Are you sad over it dying, or are you sad that you went too far?" Dain said.
"... I was too weak, so I vented my anger on it. I... Am i a failure as a human being?"
"Ahahaha, of course you're not... There are many people out there who do worse things than this. You just felt angry, right? It's okay, you aren't a failure as a human being."
Chloe went over, and then started to feast on the corpse.
"Listen. This was just your first time. You have to take care of your mental health, alright?"
"Right..."
"Cheer up. You'll get over it soon. Alright then, lets go back, shall we?"
"Dain... Did i pass?"
"Eh? Ah. Yes of course you did! You passed it with flying colors!"
I knew.
(So it wasn't a test at all huh...
Why did i think of it as a test in the first place? ...Hah. It really feels so cold.)
I took a look at the place where the goblin died. There was nothing there now. The ground seemed a bit
damp, and Chloe had already ate the goblin's corpse.
(Sorry goblin, may your next life be peaceful...)
I quickly told Chloe to follow me. We then went back home. However, on the journey back. I turned back.
...
I then continued walking, as if nothing out of the ordinary happened.
...
The next day. Sunlight was touching the ground, the morning dew dropping from the trees. This is it, my first
day living independently, Dain will be leaving today... However, something was wrong... I smelt something tingling my nose... Paper?
I woke up to a tower of books. Uh... What the hell?
"Oh! You're awake already... Take a look at this... These are the materials that you will need to learn if you need to live independently. You already remember the basics of this kingdom's language right? If you forget anything, just ask tin can."
"You bastard... Urgh... Im so tired already of me having to scream..."
"Oh? Can tin cans like you be tired of screaming?"
"..."
Arci didn't reply, it seems like he was annoyed.
Anyways, so many books... Did he pull them out from his magic pouch thingy.
"You already know how to make money right?"
"Yeah, I have to join this Adventurer's Guild thingy, right?"
"Mhm! That's right! Well then, make sure you make good use of Chloe okay? As a green wolf, he is the apex predator of this forest. Ah, and you should try to learn magic as well. There are books about magic

somewhere in those piles of books. Anyways, I'll be leaving okay? Bye bye!"
Dain then exited the door, and then closed it.
(Huh? Wait, so fast?)
I quickly opened the door to check for Dain. However I couldn't see him... He was gone that fast?
Like, no celebrations or something? He's gone that fast? Hmm...
I remembered the dead goblin corpse from last night... It seems like I've gotten over it. I couldn't feel anything about it now.
(Thats good... It's for the best I guess.)
Right... Apparently to get money quickly and easily, I have to enter this... Adventurer's Guild. But the problem is, I still wasn't fluent in this kingdom's language... Oi, did he knew about this??? That goddamned
schemer... How am i supposed to talk to them without understanding how to speak? Atleast i could read the words, but Im really bad at speaking.. It seems like I'll have to wait a couple of days until I actually go there.
In the meantime...
(Lets master some magic!)
I took a look at the piles of books, searching for something that could make me learn magic... There were titles such as 'How to Count with Mary' 'The Alphabet for Children' and... Wait, these are children's books!
That goddamned... Aaaah, lets not... Getting stressed like this early in the morning isnt't good for my health.... Finally, after searching for a while, I finally got what i wanted. 'Beginner's Guide to Magic: Even
Idiots With 10 Intelligence Can Understand it! Vol 1' Weird name, but It'll have to do.I then opened the book.
...
Apparently, according to this book Magic is the result of the manipulation of manacules in the air... Using
your Mana inside your Mana Pool, you are able to create phenomenons that aren't usually creatable by nature... Yeah, wasn't this just Dain's explanation? However, once i turned the page, my brain melted trying to comprehend what was in it.
(Huh? What the hell? What is this? Math?)
It looked similar to algebra, but it was a lot worse.
(Ughhh... I can't understand it... What's a sino line? Hexagrammatica? What's this? What is this monstrosity? What are with these values.... These numbers don't make sense at all!)
Was it because i had these memories of another system of calculation in my mind? I couldn't make sense of any of it... However, after turning the page, I was met with something understandable...
(...The types of magic. Finally, something that I can understand...)
My eyes shifted down the page, 4 Main Elements, Secondaries, Tertiaries, Special... Astral Magic.
I think this is the main category of my magic right? Let's see... So there's apparently 3 of them...
Nova, Void, and Starlight... Seems like Nova is a sub type specialized for single combat and piercing, Void is for crowd control and multi targeting and... Starlight is for support and massive AoE spells. Huh... So thats
what Starlight Magic is... So, I'm just going to be a back line supporter?
I then took a look at Spatial Magic. It seems like it was magic that was able to bend and distort space. With
Spatial magic you could teleport hundreds of kilometers with a snap of the finger. It was only good for
mobility and defence however... Damn. This is what i have to learn? All of them looked really complicated...
I then took a couple of days reading the book. I had gained much knowledge about Starlight Magic and
Astral Magic.
