We entered the wood cabin. It was quite dusty.
"Well, since we don't have any cleaning tools, I'll spare you the workload and just do this."
"Do what?"
"Stand there."
"...?"
After that, I felt a sudden breeze, it was small and soothing. But after a second, it quickly turned into a
gale, stirring the dust away, leading it outside the cabin.
"Woah?! What was that?"
"That was magic, wind magic to be exact."
So that was magic huh? He manipulated the wind somehow by using magic?
"Are you curious?" Dain asked curiously, but with a smirk.
"Well, yeah... I want to know how you just did that."
"Magic is the manipulation of manacules in the air, it uses your mana from your mana pool to produce
phenomena. That's the simple part. I'm not a dedicated mage, I just use wind magic to combine it
with my sword. Your magic teacher, well if get her on board, will tell you the more advanced things
about magic, mana, manacules, sorcery, alchemy, hexagrammatica, laws of magic, how to quick-cast,
magic theory, and all sorts of confusing stuff."
"Sounds very complicated. But why am I learning it?"
"Yes, magic is indeed a complex field of study. You remembered your status right? Your talents were
'Starlight Affinity' and 'Spatial Affinity'."
"Does that mean I can do those magic better that normal people?"
"Yes, but only if you are able to understand it. Magic talents like that dont speed up comprehension, they
just make you being better in able to use them."
"I see... So, I just realized... This house has no furniture."
"Mhm! You'll have to make it on your own!"
"Oi! Are you going to make Ryan sleep on the ground or something?"
"You need to learn how to make things on your own okay? Living independently. Do it yourself!"
...I should have never agreed to this crazy guy's proposal. So am I going to sleep on the floor?
"Well, its not like its that hard... All you have to do is just to get some wood from the forest and make your own furniture. It's just that simple."
"I can't just make furniture out of wood you know? I need something that bonds them."
"Hahaha, just tie it with rope, you can make rope out of plants. I'll teach you how to do it in the upcoming days okay?"
"How are you going to cram a single nation's language to me and survival skills in 3 days?"
"I wont teach you everything about the language, I'll only have to teach you the basics. The alphabets, how to spell them, how to write... Only those things. And then you can read from the books I'll send you when i leave this place."
This is going to be hell. I can already feel it. Well, these are important things to learn... I can't slack off on my studies, I'll have to learn this kingdom's language so i can better survive in this world.
"Well anyways. I do feel bad for not letting you have a bed. Come."
"Ryan, this guy... Haaaah. Are you really going to be fine?"
"Im sure i will Arci, i hope."
We follow Dain outside, wondering what's he going to do.
"I'll provide you with some free wood okay?"
Huh? Is he going to use the wind to cut the trees? That shouldn't be pos-
*Whoosh!*
I could feel a burst of wind as i was about to think that.
"What the..."
"Suprised? This is what magic can do, it will be really useful in helping you."
The trees in front of him were cut, no not just one slash, but they were in pieces. They cut into circles, blocks... Wow, magic is really amazing... You can do all this with just one slash? I shouldn't compare this
world with my memories...
"Alright, gather the wood and just put it inside the house, I'll go make some rope from the plants."
After he said that, I went over and gathered the chopped wood and put it inside the house. Arci was scanning the area around the cabin it seems. After putting all the chopped wood inside the house, I saw Dain coming in with a long thick rope.
"This rope, although being made from plants are still quite tough. It should be good enough."
Dain then proceeded to assemble the pieces, tied them, and boom. Simple wooden bed, yeah but it has no
matress. I hope my back will be fine...
"Whew, there you go. Okay then! Sit on the floor. It's time for school!"
"..."
"Oh, and where is Arci?"
"So you remember his name. He's currently taking a look outside the cabin."
This book is hosted on another platform. Read the official version and support the author's work.
"Good, good. Wait. Doesn't he glow at night?"
"Um yes? ...Ah."
"Sigh... Whatever, this will be good experience for him. Tell him to turn off the lights next time."
It was noon currently, and darkness was starting to descend. Arci's lights would definitely attract whatever lifeform is in the area. I hope he's going to be fine...
"So! I'll be teaching you about some basic knowledge. How much do you know about this area?"
"None at all."
"Wow, your more lacking in knowledge than i thought!"
I thought i felt a vein pop. This guy...
"You are currently inside Daren Forest. As you saw earlier it was just a couple of kilometers from town. This forest is quite vital to the town as it's filled with wood, magic herbs, and various wildlife to hunt. But this forest isn't really safe. The more deeper you get, the more often you will find monsters."
"And we're how deep inside the forest?"
"Not that deep, just a couple of hundred of meters will get you out of the forest."
"Uh huh, and how many monsters am i going to encounter?"
"About 3-4 each day or two when your this deep. Usually forest goblins. If you're unlucky you might get a
pack of kobolds, or a pair of orcs. Seems like there's going to be extra today, since you know. Arci."
"Aaaaaaah!!!"
"Ah, there he is."
I heard Arci screaming in the distance, and i also heard the screams of other creatures. We quickly went
outside to see a hovering light running away from... What are those green things? Are those the goblins Dain talked about? They looked really ugly.
"Heh, he managed to attract 23 of them, ooh... A shaman, 4 archers, and one warrior? The rest are trash."
I did see one goblin holding a wooden wand, 4 goblins holding what looked to be like bows, another one
had leather armor and an iron sword. The rest only had sharpened stone spears or wooden clubs as their
weapons.
"Stay behind me. Oi tin can! If you dont want to get slashed to bits, you better move!!!"
"For the last time, my name is not tin can!!!" Arci shouted, he immediately strafed left after saying that.
*Whoooosh*
I heard the sound of the breezing wind gathering around Dain. Is this the wind magic again? What's he going to do?
"Gyaaaaak!"
The goblins focused their attention from Arci to Dain, they then immediately moved to attack. But before they could strike a single blow... They turned into bits of meats.
*Swooooosh!!*
I felt the wind tickle my neck, as the blood of the goblins splattered on the trees, the ground, and up to the skies. They died. Holy shit! They died just like that? All 20 of them? The one wearing armor didn't even survive!
"Hooo, that was some good exercise. See that Ryan? Thats the power of magic. Magic is able to do that."
I took a look at the gory leftovers of the once were goblins.... Eugh, it looked a bit gross. ...!
(Eugh! This smell... It's nasty!)
"Haha, first time with the smell huh? That's what gets the newbies everytime. Inhale it, get use to it or your
not going to survive long in this world."
"Oooy, you! I almost died! That could've happened to me you know!"
"Ahahaha! Next time, try not to lead goblins over to us. Okay? Turn off your lights."
"... Fine! I admit I made a mistake. I will turn off my lights."
Those two were having a conversation, while i had to deal with this nasty, disgusting smell. It really reeks,
but I have to get used to it... I'll have to fight these things soon. I hope I'm able to beat them.
"Ryan! I'm really sorry about that, whats with your face?"
"It's the smell, he's getting used to it."
"Aah... Was this all my fault?"
"Dont worry, it's necessary for him to get used to this to survive. Atleast you've learned to turn your lights off. Never do that again in the wilderness alright? Actually, its just better for you to turn it off forever. It attracts a lot of attention."
"Fine... Im really sorry Ryan... I caused all of this."
"Its... Okay. I have to get used to this smell.... Blergh. It's really disgusting..."
"Won't all of this mess attract other monsters though?"
"I'll keep all of them off. In the meantime, you two rest. I'll keep guard. It's already nearing night."
Once he said that, I realized that the light of the sun was almost going to disappear.
