Third Persons P.O.V:-

“The humans that escaped our dungeon should have already gone home right? Then they must have told their supervisors or whatever about our dungeon, and then they should be coming, right?”

“I don’t care if they come or not. I just hope that they won’t come before these larvae grow up. Then we’ll at least have the means to fill our rooms, defend our home and also welcome those pests and entertain them with some monsters.”

“Yeah, so it will be great if they don’t come for another day or two.”

Minie and rocky continued to talk about what to do and how to keep their lives safe and after an intense discussion they came to the decision to modify their floors with some traps.

“Well, whatever, let’s at least create some pitfalls and spike traps on the second floor.”

Though they came to the decision of adding traps, but according to Minie, they actually had no need to do it.

“Oh! That! Actually the thing is, me and the ants have already completed the traps beforehand. SO there is no need to do anything about them.”

“Wait What?! What do you mean?”

“Remember I said I have ordered the workers to Dig the floor, according to your design?”

“Yes?”

“At that time I had already ordered the workers to dig at specific places and created the pits, so the traps are already ready and roaring.”

“What? Really? Then explain what did you do?”

“Well, nothing much~ we just created deep pits in the tunnels, decreased the visibility, and we are just waiting for you to talk about it, so that we could install spikes inside those pits.”

“Okay then lets go.”

Then Rocy followed behind her to see how many and what kind of traps she had installed. But she didn’t create the floor user friendly.

All the tunnels had a pit at the entrance. All the pits had spikes and all the spikes were sharper than swords.

Though rocky Fulfilled her wishes and created spikes inside those holes in the floor, but he was already sweating. Why? Because he didn’t even want to think about the kind of crap she might have pulled inside the tunnel when even the entrances were riddled with traps.

“Okay. Firstly, let’s change the tunnels on the left side.”

“Huh, what should I do?”

It was a simple question and the answer she gave was also simple, but was it actually so?

“Create spikes?” Sweetly she said.

“Okay, but where are the pits?”

“OH! No, no. Not in the pits, but everywhere.”

“Where?”

“Everywhere, create extremely sharp spikes coming out of all the walls, the roofs and even on the floors. Just don’t overdo it okay.”

“You- aren’t you going a little, no, too overboard here? I mean, it is still the second floor right? What are the humans going to think if they saw something like this on the second floor?”

She gave a hollow laugh and said, “Oh don’t worry. It just fits best with the new design that’s all.”

“New design? What new design?”

“I mean now that we have secured a way to gain a lot of credits without making the humans stay inside for longer duration or by torturing them. I mean that is just chump change in front of our real source of income. SO I changed the idea  little.”

“You…!!”

“NO, no listen first, then get hard on me… NO, no just listen first and don’t fire that thing here. I said don’t, no That will… AH! Thank you for not obliterating me, now..”

“Just explain and I also understand that the idea about confusing the humans would only lead to harsh reviews from the humans and nothing more, SO what does your change bring to our dungeon. And our reputation.”

“See, firstly, I turned all of the dead ends into possible corridors that connects with the main tunnel.”

She stopped to see his reactions, but Rocky didn’t find this much a headache.

“GO ON… Ahem, Go on I’m listening.”

“Phew, Okay, next all the tunnels are designed to have a set difficulty which we’ll tell the invaders about before they enters the tunnels.”

“Minie, what are you saying it’s going over my head.”

“NO, no, just listen. What I mean to say is that all the invaders will have Five routes to choose from. First is the Longest Route with the lowest difficulty.”

“Now, What does that even mean?”

“It means, this route will be long, but as you know we still haven’t unlocked the extra options therefore it’s still difficult to create a separate world inside our dungeon, but…”

“Wait, wait, wait, what did you say? A separate world?”

“Oh! Forget about that for now. That is too out of our reach for now. This floor you could call it a Beta version of the real deal. Because the real deal is too awesome.”

“Too weird I’d say, too weird. Oka what then?”

“You see the last tunnel which you said is just a circle around the dungeon to waste the invaders time, well I changed it a bit.

He nodded his head to tell her to carry on with the explanations and that’s what she did.

“I am thinking of using it to create the long but easy route. All we have to do is to completely pack it with Spikes and that’s al. The 5Km length of the tunnel and the spike will make anyone going through it to waste a lot of their time. Moreover, because the walls of a dungeon are not breakable, therefore the spikes will become unbreakable too. Then the tunnel will converge and connect with the original tunnel which was supposed to be a straight and the only path to our room.”

“You are playing with fire here you know.”

“Relax~ This plan of mine will work great. Those humans love adventure after all. We could like start giving them rewards for covering the distance in a record time or something. Not only will that increase our reputation, but will also make them reckless and they will probably die in there because of their recklessness.”

“Okay, I understand. Then what’s next?”

“Next is the short but hard route. This will also have the Spikes covering its from everywhere, but we’ll also put some pits and illusory monsters as well as real monsters inside to make the route extremely dangerous, but also short, about a Km long.”

“But that was the length of the original…”

“But the humans don’t know that, do they?”

“Haha, you mischievous little devil. Now, you are again showing your colors aren’t you?”

“I am doing WHAT?”

“I mean you are again giving it your all to protect me,… haha.”

“Yeah, right. Well, next is the Long but Hard tunnel.”

This book's true home is on another platform. Check it out there for the real experience.

“But we don’t have another long tunnel?”

“But the humans don’t know that. All we need to do is to use some kind of an illusion and make the first spike terrain tunnel look a bit different from the other one. We could always make some kind of a Trap mechanism which would only work if one entered from that route and the monsters and whatnots will be given as an extra to spice things up for those who think they can Go against our dungeon.”

“Next.”

“Next is the short but easy path.”

“Don’t tell me there is a short but difficult path too!”

“Oh, how did you know?”

*Sigh*

“Just let it be. So what’s so great about this route? Should I create spikes in it too?

“No, there is no need for that. This one won’t have any spikes.”

“Thank god, otherwise the humans would have started calling us a porcupine dungeon.”

“Haaha, very funny. Though this route will not have any Spike, but will contain a 500 meter deep and 1km long pit. A trench I suppose..”

“And?”

“What? It will have just that and noting else. Just a pit and it will be upto the humans how they choose to cover the distance.”

“But won’t they just jump down or use ropes or something to jump down into the pit and then climb up from the other side?”

“Don’t worry didn’t the resource corner just open?”

“Yes? Then buy some lava wont you?”

“What we can buy that kind of things there?”

“Yes, although we can, but it will cool down after some time.”

“Then what use would that be to us?”

“That is why I want to quickly unlock the 10th floor, then we’ll be able to buy elemental floors and what not’s and those will be a lot better.”

“Whatever, so what do you want to do until then. I mean we can’t use lava after all.”

“Until then lither them with spikes?”

“Huh, here comes the spike. Why do you love the spikes so much?”

“You! Do you have any problem with that?”

“NO~pe.”

“Then just do what I tell you too.”

“Okay, okay, my queen so tell me what do you have in mind for the last tunnel in your hell series. Oh, there is also the one in center.”

“What about it?”

“What do your mean what about it? Do something about it too?”

“SO you liked my idea~”

She looked at him with starry eyes an clapped hands. A true heroic spirit, she showed.

“Well, yeah~”

“Then do whatever you want to do with it. I am done here. Just don’t forget to complete your side of the work alright.”

“Hey, where are you going? Hey Minie? Don’t fly away? And what’s with that cheesy smile. I said stop~!”

Like anyone could have guessed she flew away, waving her hands and giggling in a cute voice, she flew away and left him with a ton of work on his hands.

“Sigh… whatever lets just complete the work.”

He started doing what she had told him and went over the plan. First, he completed the long and easiest tunnel and made it full of spikes just like she wanted. Though he left some places for the humans to place their steps, but most of the route was completely packed with the spikes. A completely incomprehensible route it became. Though he wasn’t aiming for such, but his curiosity won over him and he created something that only the most flexible of persons would be able to traverse through.

Then to complete the long but hard route he used some ‘floor illusions’ and completely made the spikes go invisible and sacrificed one of the larvae’s to create an Illusory Queen there. At the time he didn’t know, but the future of his dungeon changed right there.

Then he re-mapped the short but difficult path and after growing spikes from the walls and the ceiling, he ordered some ants to take place inside. He once again used the illusion trap, but this time a normal wall illusion was used and instead of doing something exaggerated, he just changed the Ants shape to look like the spikes. He re-used his idea of using fog and created his personal favorite head snapper inside that route.

The short and easy route as the easiest to make as he only had to order the Ants to dig a pit, but he knew that if he had left the work to normal ants then it would have taken him a considerable amount of time to complete, therefore he bought two more buff workers from the system.

One of them turned out to be a level 45 rank 1 powerhouse while the other was only a level 10 one, but he knew how powerful a single one of them really was, so he was quite happy with his decision.

He went with the flow and bought another 30 eggs to increase the monster count of their dungeon, while the queen gave birth to another egg.

He counted and came to know that now he was now controlling, 3Buff workers, 7 workers, 29 larvae and 31 eggs, giving him 70 monsters to order around.

“Oh I forgot bout the queen. 71 monsters it is.”

He then opened his dungeon status panel to check his status and felt quite happy with it.

Though it took very little time to know about his progress, but it took him 6 hours to complete the work and the larvae were getting ready to jump up and turn into a fully fledged fighting force.

Buying 2 Buff workers, 31 Eggs took 1100Dc and reserved 300of his Mana, then using the illusions, which included one wall and one floor illusion costed him about 1200Dc + 4 lesser mana stones which amounted to about 400Dc more. And when the total came out he again felt like a beggar.

Though he was being pessimistic about the values shown on the screen, while nodding his head his vision fell on something and his head furiously stopped in the middle of nodding and he yelled.

“Minie! Who the hell named us the cave of misery?”
