Chapter 12: Lose Yourself

Pov The Speck

An infinitesimal speck of consciousness was adrift in a void without spacetime where the mere concept of existence is immaterial. This speck comprised small amethyst-hued light wrapped in even smaller specks of scarlet light beads. Since time has no meaning to this bead of light, it is both here and not here. This bead is Trish but also not Trish at the same time.

The void opened its mouth, the same thing Trish did and didn't see right before her decapitation.

Words that weren't words seemingly echoed through to the light.

"You had one opportunity to seize her, one moment, and you let it slip between your fingers." The mouth said and didn't say.

It spoke without speaking and said words without using words, but the speck somehow still understood. These contradictions were inconsequential to the speck that was and never was Trish.

Hearing what the mouth said made the speck think of the moments before Trish's decapitation.

The area seemingly changed to the exact scene right before the death of Trish.

It was viewing the scene from a seemingly omniscient viewpoint seeing it all at once from on high.

She saw the river that had been starting to dye crimson because of the vast amounts of blood mixing with the water. Momo stood entirely surrounded by dozens to hundreds of these creatures, the water rushing past them.

Off to the far left stood Trish, who was busy screaming and activating her magic and was only mere moments away from getting her head cut off from behind.

Trish's palms were sweaty, her knees feeble, arms were like iron weights.

At the same time, this was happening, something neither Trish nor Momo noticed but was seen by the speck, something that should not have happened and did not happen before did happen.

A Massive disturbance in space-time created a time-boom similar in concept to a sonic boom. A slice in Spacetime appeared off in the distance back where Trish had come from, making a tear of spacetime in the air, and a person was ejected from the hole at speeds that easily exceeded a space shuttle by dozens of times over.

The hole closed almost as quickly as it appeared, leaving only a scar in the exact spot the portal was created.

Then shortly later, it saw a pillar of bright light where the person landed, and the spec could only think that it seemed familiar.

The incomprehensible Void interrupted the speck's reminiscing as its mouth started moving.

"It's so like a traveler to peek at what they oughtn't've." The mouth said and didn't say.

Momo moved her head quickly as a whip and stared directly at the void and the speck. Her expression was dark, and her eyes entirely white.

"Get over here," Momo roared. "I will not let you escape again". Momo's voice was constantly changing pitch and tone as if cycling through a radio station. This person did not sound like Momo to the speck.

Unexpectedly it felt an intense pull driving it towards Momo, who had her hand stretched towards it.

Before the spec moved far, the void stopped all this by coming in between them.

The void did and did not take a condescending tone as it did and didn't speak the words that followed "It's about time you snap back to reality."

Quite suddenly, it found itself in a very uncomfortable space that was so familiar yet so microscopic, and immuring it fought to escape once again. Still, like all attempts prior, it failed.

A flash of pain and pressure hit the speck of consciousness, and it shied away from it coiling deeper. The consciousness heard muffled foreign words and screams. After a Sudden hard push, the light finally enveloped the infant.

The wet nurse handed the baby to the new mother after quickly cleaning the baby. Her olive-toned rough hands enveloped the poor babe. The mother's emerald glowing eyes shone with a pearl of hidden wisdom well beyond her years; Raven hair flowing in a gentle breeze enveloped her slightly rounded face, which bore a loving toothy smile.

The mother glanced toward her husband, a rugged man whose notable features were his slightly plum-tinged skin that contrasted his blood-red hair and kind crimson eyes shining brightly.

The woman's lips parted, and she spoke almost melodiously. "She possesses a stunning beauty that reflects characteristics from both of us. Her complexion resembles mine, with a slightly darker shade, while her eyes are captivating, her left resembling yours and the other resembling mine, both shining with vitality. Finally, her short hair cascades in a dark maroon hue."

"Oh great, your back. I can never get a break from you, can I?" The feminine robotic voice noted in an annoyed tone into the infant's mind causing the baby to cry.

"Shush, shush, it's okay, darling," The mother reassured the poor baby. Her hand glowed a beautiful green as she spoke words of power to life and touched the poor baby,

A sense of calm enveloped the baby, causing her to calm down.

The woman asked her husband in a questioning tone. "Were we successful? Is she a Traveler"?

The man eyes pupils widened as he focused on his child. A huge grin seemingly cracked the rugged features on her husband's face. His eyes sparkled with delight. "Yes, my love, we did succeed in another summoning. The goddess has graced our union, and our prayers have been answered. Her status is fuzzy, but I can barely make out the basics. Her name is Trish Braeja, her soul is female, and one of her titles is Wanderer of Countless Realms". Her father proclaimed with pride.

Trish has been Reborn, but as an Infant, the wisps of consciousness were suppressed as no infant's brain could contain her mind.
