I could see in the corner of my eye a screen that was displayed in turquoise. My entire life's history. I looked around and wondered if everyone had the same screens in front of their faces. From the looks of it they in fact did.
Monroe said, "Hey Reinhardt, what are these things. They look like an interface for an old video game or one of those new fangled VR MMOs that are all the rage these day." Monroe despite having lived most of his life in suburban area wasn't much for RPG games so it made sense that he was one of the ones that didn't know what was going on.
Jacques chimed in "Oh sweet, are we in an isekai scenario or something. Are we going to be transported to an exciting new world full of monster girls and cat girls and fox girls. Fox girls are my favorite. Oh to have a harem full of fox girls is one of my only dreams in life. Their eyes are so fluffy and ready for the massaging."
Alex returned, "I'm not sure we'll be travelling to a world with monster girls or if that world with monster girls are coming to us. But for me I just can't wait to play the hero. It's something I've always dreamed."
Jacques responded. "I'm sure you'll get your chance to play the heroes. Afterall, the only reason that we're getting these stat screens is because we're chosen. Isn't that right Reinhardt."
I looked over at my own stat screen. It had everything about me displayed for everyone to see and quantifiably as well.
[Name: Reinhardt Wiseman, a musician of german american descent a violin virtuouso from the looks of things and not too bad looking. I could get used to this guy as my host. Although, from the looks of things he does not take jokes well]

Okay so I was mostly adept at physical tasks. I could at least figure out that much. These seemed like those old DnD stat sheets that my friends and I used to play with in college. Although this didn't come as a shock to me I had always been more physically inclined than intellectually aside from my music.
Although, I still considered myself more of a nerd than a jock I didn't really have the talent for most nerdy things, like art, writing or computer programming the things that would have allowed someone to blossom as a nerd.
The only thing I really had about me was that I was somewhat nerdy, and I read some light novels the ones that were published by J-Novel Club. Which I suppose could look to count for my considerable intelligence.
These things were bog standard for anyone who's even remotely looked at a DnD rulebook. Next I found some things that weren't so familiar to me. Afterall, this wouldn't be interesting if it had stopped at just that.

Sweet! I always knew I had potential I thought to myself.
"I see that everyone has seen their base stats. Now everyone should choose their classes."
Alright, let's see what classes are available to me. I thought to myself I hope I get something good and heroic.
"So we get to choose classes? Is this something like one of those video games that you play online with other people one of those VRMMOs?" Said Monroe. "I didn't know abilities in real life worked like this." Said Monroe. "I can already tell that this is going to be fun. I can't wait to use my abilities on the bad guys. Fire! Deep Freeze! Thunder!" Monroe said mimicing kingdom hearts.
"No, usually they don't but for you guys we thought we would make an exception and create a system similar to your old style Roleplaying Games that you take such joy in. The gods are nothing if not considerate afterall."
"So all of these were just made for us. I don't know whether to feel appreciated or insulted." Jacques said with a sarcastic smile on his face and pointing to himself. Clearly he found all of this to be very amusing.
"Well you and a few other people you'll be meeting in the world that you'll eventually get summoned to. You're not our only backup plan afterall although you are quite an important one for sure." Said Jacques.
Unauthorized content usage: if you discover this narrative on Amazon, report the violation.
"Well, I suppose that makes sense, you can't really just depend on one group of people when the entire fate of the multiverse is at stake." Said Jacques.
"Sweet! Then I'll just be like one of my heroes from some of my favorite litrpg stories" Said Alex
"What's the litrpg" Monroe asked. "Those sound expensive."
"They're mostly fantasy adventurer or stories about gamers who go on world saving advenures or just dick around usually there's character stats like what we just saw, plus right at the beginning you'll be able to see a class select screen in order to tell which classes will be the right fit for a specific group of players"
"Oh so this is like one of those jrpg games or rather any rpg games that you would play. This is pretty intuitive but just in case can you show us how all this is supposed to work." Most of us had already played some form of roleplaying game since long before he was born but we humored him instead.
"Alright, so usually you just think or ask about class selection and the screen for class selection is going to pop up. Then you just assign your character class for who you want to be." Said Alex there were practically stars in his eyes over how excited he was that he was now getting to pick who he would want to be for the rest of his adventuring life.
"Assign a character class," Monroe said genuinely unsure about any of this.
"So you know at the beginning of kingdom hearts when you got to pick whether you'd be good at attack, defense or magic?" asked Alex trying to explain the concept to Monroe who basically knew what was happening but was still kind of unsure because outside of Kingdom Hearts he hardly played any video games. "It's something like that but it's a lot more involved."
"Basically you select who you want to be or who you want to portray yourself as and you'll get to be them." Alex said completely enthused. "Sometimes you can even choose another class once you level up enough or even maybe a third, sometimes classes actually level up to other classes that are more specialized to the type of skills you want to have. But for right now this is who we'll be."
"That's exactly right, good job young one. You get a gold star." Said confidence.
"So what character class did you pick Alex?" Asked Jacques "By the way your speaking it seems like you already went through this."
"Well, as you see I had a good number of character classes available to me but I wanted to be one class above all of the other ones and that one was Elementalist, afterall, I've always wanted to be able to use air, water, earth and fire after watching certain shows in my youth." Said Alex proud of the choice he had made.
Here's my stat sheet by the way. Just in case anyone's wondering. I'm not sure how it compares to other people's stat sheets but I'd like to think that it's pretty good considering how people usually start off in tabletop roleplaying games.

[Alpha Potential]
[Heyoka Potential]
[Sigma Potential]
[Wind cutters- able to create a very sharp blade of air able to cut through steel and do this continuously as long as mana is not depleted]
[Fireball- Summon a soccerball sized ball of fire to fly directly at your opponent. This is a quick spell and very useful for setting someone's ass on fire. Cantrip.]
[Ice fang- summon giant icicles from the ground in order to freeze your opponent. An offshoot of water magic, ice magic has it's own uses and it's own weaknesses this is one of it's basic spells. A larger spell that one can only use three times a day for spectacular effect.]
[Thunderbolt- Summon a bolt of lightning to fry your opponent. Does a heap of damage if it connects in just the right way. Available to use as a cantrip due to the level of proficiency that the user has with fireball.]
[Darkness tendrils- summons darkness tendrils to ensnare your opponent to trap them into one place. Useable for as many times as possible until mana is depleted.]
[Water Mirror- a unique skill of the water magick school as well as an innate ability the water mirror ability allows one with the ability to use the water mirror to reflect most if not all elemental damage back at the opponent the only elemental magicks that it's weak against are ice and metal which goes through it and fire magick which completely nullifies the Water Mirror by completely evaporating it. The Spellcaster cannot cast any other spells when using water mirror so it leaves the opponent vulnerable. Since it is a unique skill it is another cantrip.]
[Vine Trap: A spell of the wood school of magic, this creates vines which ensnares the opponent and slowly drains them of their mana and hp and adds the stolen points onto the users. Skill useable until mana is depleted. It's best to be tricky with placement of this particular skill.]
[Vampiric Drain: Casting this spell on an opponent causes the opponent to lose their life force and have it added onto the user's own. Innate Skill, due to how powerful this ability is the user can only use this once per day.]
"So how'd I do?" Asked Alex smuggly knowing that someone can't possibly roll this good usually and that it was beyond unfair. "I'm not one to brag but I think I did pretty well for myself choosing the elementalist class."
I rolled my eyes at this but deep down I was embarassed by being shown up by my younger brother. Maybe he actually has more hero potential than I do.
"Shit, I'm not going to lie to you, those stats are good like really good. I'm considering making Alex our leader." Said Monroe.
"You know cheer up Rein, just because Alex's stats are this impressive doesn't mean we think any less of you." Said Jacques "You're always going to be the leader in my eyes at least." He eyed Monroe.
"Don't sell yourself short Rein. You don't know what you're truly capable of until you select your class and frankly there's a chance, albeit small that you could become even more useful than your friend Alex here" Confidence said but I could tell that she was hiding a small chuckle.
"Oh, I almost forgot to equip the mages robes that came with this character class." Said Alex "Heh, silly me always forgetting things."
"Yeah, that sounds important you should probably equip it before you forget. I suppose mages robes offer at least some modicum of defense?" Said Jacques.
"Yeah, they're supposed to." replied Alex.
We looked back over to his character sheets and underneath the skill section there was an items equippable one.
[Items equippable]
[Mage Apprentice robes- The beginner robes of the wolf mage. This allows the mage to be more connected with the natural energy and magick surrounding him. This allows that very same magick to flow into them. Restores MP at the rate of 15 points per hour passively.]
[Small Health Potion x2 A small health potion that only restores a small amount of HP. Around 35-50 points of health will be restored instantly upon use of the potion.]
[Small Mana Potion x5 A small mana potion that only restores a small amount of MP. Around 35-50 points of mana will be restored instantly upon the use of the potion.]
[Apprentice Mages Staff- This staff allows the user to better focus the mana that they exert using their spells and allows them to sometimes cast for double damage and half mana cost. This also provides the basic melee weaponry for the mage class.]
"Okay so let me equip this." Alex said while switching over to equipping the Mages staff and the Mages robes.
For only a brief moment Alex was covered in a bright light that was radiating out from him making his very skin shine like the sun. The form of Alex seemed to morph into that of a mages the hood and staff appeared from Alex's shining silhouette as if it were made of water and filling up a new container and when all was said and done Alex reappeared and the shining light stopped.
"Huh, so how do I look?" Alex said looking over his new body that was adorned with the mages robes with the mages staff floating right behind him. "I think it worked pretty well."
Standing there was the Alex we knew but we felt a certain power emanate directly from him. Was this the magic that was granted to him by the mages staff and the mages robes. He commanded the room with a feeling of power.
"Cool?" asked alex.
"Cool." said Monroe.
"Certainly cool." replied Jacques
Not to be perturbed by this I cheered up and made a declaration.
"Alright, everyone let's choose our classes." I said to the rest of them. "Let's stategize this so that we have a well rounded party and hopefully we'll be able to just pull off saving the world."
