Chapter Ten: Is It Just Me Or Is That Potted Plant Watching Me?

As the weekend drew to a close the quartet needed to return to school, tardiness wasn’t accepted and being hunted wasn’t a valid excuse. So they bundled into an armored motorcade that was four cars long, bristling with armed bodyguards who swept the hover-train station before even letting the party step foot outside.

The National Gala had been brazenly attacked so excessive wasn’t a word that was applicable anymore, there was no guarantee that the hover-train was safe.

“Do you think they’d attack the school?” Gwyn asked as the group secured an empty booth to themselves within the train.

“I wish, I don’t think I could take another one of Miss Grimhold’s lessons.” Marion complained as she slumped into one of the seats.

“Now you’ve jinxed us, good going."

Tatiana pulled Gwyn onto the opposite seat, the pair hadn’t stopped holding hands since this morning.

“If they make it into the school they’d have serious problems, it’s probably more secure than even the parliament building.” Cécilia spoke as she sat down next to the pouting blonde.

“Do you think it was planned?” Gwyn asked as she had a sudden thought.

“What was planned?” Marion asked as she jealously stared at Tatiana and Gwyn’s linked hands.

“The crash landed orb,” she’d been thinking about since the attack, “there was a groundskeeper out at night. At first I thought he might have been drawn to the crashing noise but it wasn’t actually that loud.”

After all, only Gwyn had heard it from her dorm, everyone else was able to sleep right through it.

“What if it was planned to land in the forest and someone at the school was meant to retrieve it."

The trio sat back in contemplation over her idea, if it was true the school might not be as safe as they thought.

“That’s a troubling thought but it gives us a lead right?” Tatiana ventured “if a groundskeeper is in on whatever this is then they might know something about who ordered the attack."

“But how did they know it was Gwyn if she didn’t get seen?” Cécilia spoke up as the train left the station smoothly.

“The security cameras!” Marion smacked a fist into her palm “that’s how they knew it was Gwyn outside."

“So that means that potentially someone in the guard room is also in on this or at least has access.” Cécilia hypothesized.

So not only groundsmen but now the security? Next she’ll be told that the old hag Miss Grimhold was the mastermind. Gwyn paused as she thought about it, nah too obvious.

“But what can we do about it?”

The group pondered in silence as the train sped towards the potentially hostile school. As the hover-train pulled up to the school grounds the horde of excited young girls shuffled through the now even stronger security checkpoint. The foursome group was tense and watchful as they passed it to get into the school, thankfully there was no incident in doing so.

“So what do we do?” Marion whispered as they headed towards their dorms.

“We keep a watch out for anyone acting strange and protect Gwyn, nobody goes anywhere alone,” Tatiana began ordering the group about, “Marion you see if you can’t infiltrate the security station and find out who accessed the cameras that night. Cécilia you look into this groundskeeper, see if you can’t find a roster or something."

The two gave professional nods in reply.

“What about me?” Gwyn excitedly asked.

“You stay by my side, if they want you they’ll have to go through me first.” Tatiana pulled her in protectively, eliciting blushes from Gwyn and gagging noises from Marion.

Gwyn snuggled up into the dark haired girl and found out that the Kiss of the Succubus also worked on cheek kisses, much to her amusement and the other two’s increasing jealousy.

You’d think that being caught up in something like a spy thriller would be more exciting, instead it was just more mind numbing classes for Gwyn. Maybe the villains were trying to use boredom to kill her? It was certainly proving more effective than the kidnapping attempt had been.

Currently she was quietly dozing off in a class about politics; the “who are they and why should we care” class. A week had passed by with absolutely nothing happening, neither the spy or assassin had any luck with their assigned tasks either.

However that was about to swiftly change.

In the middle of a lecture on current political events the door to the classroom received a loud knock. Entering the room after doing so was the principal’s assistant, the beautiful young woman met Gwyn’s eyes for a fleeting moment before she headed over to the class’ teacher, Mr Goldsmith. After a brief tense discussion between them, the teacher turned towards Gwyn.

“Miss Morven, you are wanted in the principal’s office, please pack up your things.”

Gwyn blinked confusingly from behind her glasses before standing up to leave, she then cast a nervous look at her friends.

“May I escort Gwyn there?” Tatiana half-rose from her desk.

“Denied. Miss Morven is perfectly capable of making her way to the principal’s office on her own. Plus this is a rather interesting topic that I wouldn’t want you to miss.” Mr Goldsmith shot her request down, he seemed rather annoyed that Gwyn was missing his lecture.

The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

Tatiana sent Gwyn a worried look but there wasn’t much either of them could do about it right now. Gwyn just hoped nobody was bold enough to attack her within the school, especially as classes were still in session. She wasn’t as much of a pushover anymore with her few martial arts lessons plus she did still have her taser clutched in her blazer’s pocket.

As she walked behind the principal’s assistant the school’s hallways were eerily silent, Gwyn kept her eyes on the young woman as anyone could be her enemy in this place but the pair eventually reached the principal's office unaccosted.

“Miss Godheart is expecting you.” The assistant smirked as she gestured towards a thick dark oak door, a plaque on it read: Principal Godheart.

Why did she have to say that so ominously?

Pushing open the heavy oak door Gwyn entered the principal’s office, it was fairly lush in her opinion. A large oak desk dominated the room as it sat in the center upon a soft carpet flooring, behind it was a graceful mature woman who was highlighted by diffused light filtering in through drawn thin curtains.

Gwyn already felt she was going to be sick with anxiety, her back was already slick with sweat and her hands wouldn’t stop shaking.

Miss Godheart was the pinnacle of a mature working woman, while she was most likely older than the gray-haired Miss Grimhold she hadn’t lost her natural amber hair or gathered pronounced wrinkles, only a small beauty mark below her right eye marred her skin. Warm inviting amber eyes regarded Gwyn as a small smile graced her red lipstick coated lips.

“Please close the door Gwynnestri dear and take a seat.” Miss Godheart spoke with a deep sensual voice that sent shivers up Gywn’s spine.

As if commanded by a skill herself, Gwyn quickly obeyed the breathtaking woman and sat down in front of the solid desk, the door behind her was now shut and with it the room was sealed. While sitting there her eyes were naturally drawn to the bookshelf behind the softly smirking woman, she noted many popular and classic books, including all of her mother’s works.

The atmosphere was fairly taut as the fetching amber-eyed and amber-haired woman was content to simply watch the young girl before her squirm in the soft seat. It didn’t take long for Gwyn to start feeling like prey before a mountain lion.

“What is this about Miss Godheart, am I in trouble?”

Gwyn was the first to break, she gulped nervously as the principal licked her red lips.

“You’re not in any trouble Gwynnestri, unless you have something to tell me? and please call me Myra.” The older woman practically purred as she addressed the younger girl.

“No Miss Godheart, I mean Myra.” Gwyn quickly changed her address as those mature amber eyes narrowed at her words.

Myra as she liked to be called, let Gwyn sweat some more.

As she did so Gwyn was able to take in her some more, from what she could see the full-figured woman wore a professional white blouse and black pencil skirt combo. What wasn’t very professional was that she had unbuttoned her two top buttons, allowing her mountainous breast room to breathe and draw the eyes of a certain green hair girl.

Myra gave Gwyn a sultry look before speaking some more.

“Hmm, if you say so. This is about Eve, oh excuse me I meant your dear mother.” Myra’s voice was rather fond as she brought up Gwyn’s mother.

“My mother?”

“Indeed she was here this week and we had a long and deep talk.”

Myra smiled a smile from those red lips that Gwyn wasn’t sure she liked.

“She said she wanted you to head over to an event she is organizing. Something regarding her latest book.”

“Why didn’t she tell me directly?”

Myra bit her lip with a sort of indecent remembrance “I’m afraid she was rather tied up at the time.”

Gwyn was rather mortified at the moment, she’d rather she was kidnapped than whatever this was. She definitely didn’t need that horrifying image residing in her brain.

“Anyway she told me she wants your help so you’ll have to take the next week off, however I want you to take some school-work with you and when you return I’ll give you some private tutorship as I’m well versed in a great deal of subjects.”

Shivers ran up Gwyn's spine as Myra spoke sensually to her, she suspected that the principal was just messing with her judging by her smirking lips but she wasn’t sure. It was hard to tell with those sultry eyes locked possessively onto her own.

“Thank you Miss, um, Myra.” Gwyn stuttered under the amused look of the flawless mature woman.

Myra just gave a soft chuckle as Gwyn sat awkwardly before her “you can leave now to pack, unless you wanted to chat some more.” she batted her long eyelashes at Gwyn who blushed some more.

“Umm, no thank you, I'll just go. Now. umm bye Myra?” Gwyn tripped over her words as she practically rushed towards the office door.

“Oh and give my love to your mother will you?”

Gwyn heaved a sigh of relief as she shut the door behind her, ignoring the hearty chuckles emanating from the office. Rather than wander alone to her dorm in the dangerous halls she decided to head back to class and await her friends.

“What did the principal want?”

Gwyn squawked in surprise and fumbled her taser out, jabbing it in the direction of the person who spooked her. A slim but powerful hand captured her wrist and redirected the attack with ease.

“Woah there tiger!”

With a chance to take in her assailant she noted it was Marion, Tatiana and Cécilia both were coming up behind her.

“Sorry! You surprised me!”

Gwyn was both mortified at almost tasering her friend and embarrassed that she was countered so easily. She wouldn’t have wanted to taser Marion anyway but it was the principle of the matter.

“So? What was that about with the principal?” Marion conversationally prodded as she released Gwyn wrist.

“I have to leave the school for some event my mother is organizing.”

At her surprise declaration the terrible trio shared a non-verbal communication before speaking in synchronicity.

“It's definitely a trap.”

It was a bit spooky when they did that.

“Most likely but I still have to go, avoiding it would be suspicious and they might just attack the school anyway.”

At least in the city they could draw them out and not put the other girls in class in danger. Maybe they could also find out who sent them too.

“It’s far too dangerous.” Tatiana tried to deny the plan but the others were more confident in their ability to keep her safe.

“If we can draw them out we can eliminate the threat before it even occurs.” Cécilia voiced her proactive opinion into the mix.

“How are you three getting out?”

If the security forces were compromised they’d do their best to have Gwym on her own, in fact it was probably so easy to leave before because they wanted Gwyn away from the school and at the Gala.

“We could use your skills,” Marion pointed out, “and I have a few disguises that could come in handy too.”

Right, Gwyn wasn’t the same girl anymore; she now had powerful abilities that could help them exit without being seen.
