Marion frog marched the group of three around the corner while calling out in a deep masculine timber as she went “hey! I found some more, come give me a hand.”
While she was initially spooked by the change in voice, when she thought about it she wasn’t that surprised. Marion was the star of the drama club so changing her voice was the least she could do.
Gwyn had once had the privilege of hearing her heavenly singing voice.
Upon hearing her call the three skull masked henchmen turned and took in the approaching group. While she couldn’t see it on their masked faces she did hear a smirk in their voices.
“Good work David, hopefully one of these is the girl we’re looking for.”
The group of girls were tense for a particular reason, the outfit Marion had stolen was fitted for a taller man. She had to roll up her sleeves and legs in order to walk properly, so while it was baggy enough to obscure her womanly curves, what it couldn’t obscure was her lack of height.
When the group of three henchmen drew closer to them they inevitably noticed the discrepancy.
“Wait a minute…”
That was all the goon in the front was able to say before the group of girls sprung into action.
As Cécilia was at the front she was the first upon her target, with a quick effortless swipe of the keen knife the masked henchman dropped to the ground clutching his reddening neck.
Marion was next up and she lunged at the man following behind. With an acrobatic leap she wrapped an arm around his throat and bore him to the ground, her legs clamped onto his torso as she pulled back on the wire. Her back arched with tension, pulling the wire tight. The henchman struggled silently as he slowly suffocated in her grasp.
All that was left was the final man. In a moment of desperate fear and bravery Gwyn focused on the feeling of the Alluring Sight skill and forced it to activate. His head swung towards her instinctively thus allowing Tatiana to duck his wide swing, immediately she jabbed him in the ribs with the taser.
Like a lightning struck fish he flopped to the ground.
With the sudden violence quelled Gwyn was hypnotized by the pooling blood and the man who ceased struggling in Marion’s grip.
Suddenly her view was blocked by Tatiana, Gwyn stared at her uncomprehendingly.
“Hey, hey, don’t look. It’s ok, you’re ok. You did good.” Tatiana was speaking words but they didn’t seem to be registering in Gwyn’s muddled brain.
From the corner of her eye she saw Cécilia effortlessly draw a bloody knife over the neck of the stunned man, opening up a ragged wound like a second grim smile. Cécilia's eyes were indifferent as she did so like green glass.
“Hey look at me, it’ll be ok.” Tatiana turned Gwyn’s face from the violence.
“Breathe Gwyn, slowly, in and out. With me, in and out.” Only now as she was focused on her breathing with Tatiana did she realize that she was hyperventilating.
She matched her own breathing with Tatiana’s, listening only to her.
Those warm hazel eyes were filled with deep concern, only for her.
Deep within herself built a strange desire, a bubbling floating feeling. Before her brain could actually register what she was doing, she leaned forwards. Soft lips touched her own, the electric spark of contact reset her floundering brain and she drew back with a gasp.
Seductress class activated Kiss of the Succubus added
Tatiana stood stunned before her, cheeks rapidly pinkening.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t, I was, I mean…sorry.” Gwyn stuttered shyly, fearful she had either ruined their friendship or broken her as she was still stunned by the Kiss of the Succubus.
Why didn’t her skill come with a manual?!
Tatiana was lost in her own pink tinted world, slowly she touched her lips dreamily.
“Uhh, it’s fine, totally fine,” her voice cracked as she spoke, “it was just sudden, I didn’t have time to prepare."
As she turned away from her blushing friend in embarrassment she was met with the disbelieving and devastated faces of her other two friends. They stood amongst the carnage of the fight but looked as if Gwyn had delivered a more fatal blow.
“Umm, shouldn’t we move before more arrive?” Gwyn desperately requested.
After liberating the dead’s weapons and silently handing Gwyn back her taser the team moved on. They didn’t bother to hide the bodies this time as there wasn’t anything they could do about the blood. Tatiana was still touching her lips and started humming under her breath as they walked.
Gwyn took the lead straightaway so that she could sort out her emotions, about the system and about the sublime kiss. She could still make out the quiet and furious whispers behind her however due to the echoing corridor.
“What was that?!” Marion harshly whispered towards Tatiana.
“She kissed me~.” Tatiana dreamily intoned, still lost in the moment.
“Just like that?” Cécilia spoke with a calm menace “well then? What was it like?"
“Tingly~,” Tatiana said in a dreamy tone, “it was the best kiss I’ve ever had."
You could be reading stolen content. Head to Royal Road for the genuine story.
“That was your first kiss idiot,” Marion instantly rebuked her.
Tatiana was unfazed much to the others’ annoyance “my point still stands."
Gwyn was absolutely embarrassed by the direction the conversation was taking, luckily for her heart the massive main door was just around the next bend. Peeking carefully around she saw two heavily armed henchmen guarding the door, vigilantly watching the approaches. Before they could spot her she backed off towards her group to softly tell them about the obstacle in their way.
“What’s the plan? Same as last time?” Gwyn nervously asked.
“No, these two seemed more vigilant than the others, if they get spooked by us the others in the main chamber will just start shooting hostages.” Cécilia grimly told her as the team thought about how to tackle this situation.
Gwyn looked upwards in thought and spotted something that gave her an idea. Up above them in the foyer there was a hanging art installation, she followed the wires that held it up and found a point near them but out of the men’s sightlines.
“What about that?” Gwyn pointed at the installation “do you two think you could climb up those wires and drop down on them?"
The athletic duo contemplated her idea.
“We could but they’d need to be under it first.” Cécilia pointed out the flaw in the plan.
Gwyn just needed to draw them in then and she had just the tool.
“What if I get their attention? I can be very distracting” Gwyn was referring to her Alluring Sight skill so she wasn't expecting the girls to nod in agreement, she puffed up her cheeks as she felt she was somehow being made fun of.
“I’ll stay with her,” Tatiana declared “I can’t climb up that and besides we want both of them to head our way right?"
Despite their suspicions the two more muscular girls reluctantly agreed to the plan and set off to climb up the installation. Gwyn didn’t know how they managed to do it but both girls somehow managed to shimmy up the wire with nary a sound and position themselves in the installation, ready to drop.
As soon as they were given the signal to go Gwyn and Tatiana broke into a run, their bare feet slapping loudly on the slick tiles. Gwyn activated her Alluring Sight as soon as she felt the guarding men’s eyes upon her, their heads snapped like whips to her position and they rapidly moved to intercept her.
Using her least used skill, math, she calculated their trajectories to have the two running guards end up cornering them underneath the installation. She gave another pulse of her skill to keep their attention off the slight clinking and swaying above.
“Don’t run, we won’t hesitate to shoot you little shits.” The guards pointed their guns at the pair, forcing both to freeze.
“Who are you morons?! Don’t you know who you’re messing with?” Tatiana taunted with an arrogant tone as well to keep their attention focused on them.
“Ha, you aren’t getting shit from us, now let's…”
Halfway though his sentence he was crumpled under the weight of a falling Marion and before the other guard could register what had happened, he too was crushed only under Cécilia this time.
The stunned guards were easily finished off with a quick swipe from Cécilia’s blade. Now reunited they expeditiously moved towards the main doors. Upon arriving there Cécilia handed Gwyn her suppressed pistol as she had a machine gun now.
“You remember how to use this right?” Cécilia asked her as she held out the pistol.
A few weeks back they had gone over to Tatiana’s shooting range and had run her through a firearms training course despite her reluctance, she was glad they had now.
“I remember.”
Gwyn gripped the cool weapon and made sure it was pointed correctly away from her friends. Cécilia then peeked through the main doors and informed the others that there were twenty masked individuals around the room and that the hostages had been forced into the center of the room.
“What do we do? If we try to go in won’t they just shoot the hostages?” Gwyn nervously asked.
“They would if they could see that is~.” Marion grinned as she held up a canister that Gwyn recognized as a flashbang.
“Oh, can I do it?” if she combined it with her Alluring Sight it might be devastatingly more effective.
“Alright?” She handed over the canister cautiously and then carefully showed Gwyn how to arm it.
“Are we ready? Great, then let's go.” Marion punctuated her statement by racking the bolt of her gun, the slam of the mechanism elicited harsh looks from the rest.
“Sorry.”
The fierce foursome stacked up on the wall beside the door, ready to breach and clear. Cécilia had a firm hand on the door handle and Gwyn stood behind her with the flash grenade in hand. A nod was Gwyn’s sign to pull the pin from the flashbang, the pin pulling free with a snap.
The door swung quickly inwards and with a pure force of will she invested the skill into the grenade. The skill-infused grenade spun into the chamber and out of their sight.
There was a sudden pause in the conversations right before a bright light and deafening bang erupted from the room.
With cries of alarm and pain serving as their signal they rushed into the hall, Cécilia went first with her gun held tight to her chest. She pivoted left once she was clear of the doorway and began sweeping the room, immediately quick gunshots started ringing out.
As the next in line it was Gwyn's responsibility to go right, Marion would be right behind her but her heart still beat a mile a minute. Gwyn clutched the pistol close to her chest and went immediately right after entering.
Directly in front of her as she turned the corner was another henchman, as he was the closest to the blinding and deafening blast he was still staggering around and clutching at his eyes. With only a moment’s hesitation she drew the slim pistol up and fired into his center mass, just like she had been taught.
Like a puppet with its strings cut he crumpled to the floor.
Marion’s firm grasp on her shoulder kept her moving through the room before she could freeze up. Glancing along she saw that the other girls had dealt with the other henchmen with ease, her skill-infused flashbang had rendered the gunmen insensate.
Those nearer the back however had been less affected but still stunned enough that the bravest members of hostages were able to take them down. She noted that Mr Rygiel had snapped the neck of one with his massive hands, the crack had reverberated around the room.
Thanks to her skill, instead of a long and drawn out gunfight which could have ended in many dead or injured hostages, the gunfight had lasted mere seconds. As the stress of the situation finally settled in and the adrenaline wore off Gwyn puked.
Marion gently prized the pistol from her white knuckled grip and began stroking her back as she hurled onto the floor, making an absolute mess of the clean floor.
Once there wasn’t anything left in her guts she turned back to the room, now that there was nobody guarding the hostages, people were streaming out of the hall into the night outside. Tatiana had sought out her father, Gwyn noted with no small amount of jealousy that he wasn’t hesitant to hold her close in his relief and pride. She did note he was also ordering various people about in the hall, including someone she noted was the chief of police.
The gunmen they had confronted had mentioned that they were looking for a young girl instead of going after the numerous famous or wealthy people in the hall.
So that begged the question of who they were looking for and why?
Gwyn had the creeping feeling the answer was that they were here for her.
