His gaze scanned the outside scenery, but all he saw was the darkening sky.
"How long have I been sleeping? It's almost nighttime,"
He noticed the surroundings slowly being engulfed in darkness, but it wasn't like the darkness that came when the sun was absent. This was a deep, pitch-black darkness that lurked behind the fading sunlight until it was time for the sun to go down completely.
Gruuk!
Blanco's stomach rumbled again.
"Damn, where is the food? I'm so hungry," he muttered, looking around their nest. But there was no food to be found. Similarly, all the other newborns in the same state as him were lying low on the ground, overpowered by hunger.
"something's wrong. Father usually comes before the sun goes down or before the darkness covers the area, but today they're late. Could there be something wrong?" Blanco thought, gazing back at the forest.
But suddenly, a giant animal's head peeked into the hole of their nest.
The mother creature quickly moved in front of Blanco, and the newborns screamed in a frightened way.
Blanco, being shielded by his mother, peeked from the side of her.
In the next scene, his father appeared, holding the giant creature from his mouth as he entered the nest.
The large creature, with a head resembling a bat and a lizard-like hide, was their dinner. Following the father, the older ones came in to the nest.
"uh? Something's wrong," Blanco noticed that the older ones were not in good shape. Some had grave injuries, while others had blood all over their bodies. He also noticed that there were fewer people in the group than there were in the morning.
As Blanco focused on watching them, the father dropped the larger creature to the ground and moved closer to the soft hay bed that only he and mother creture slept. He lay down on it, exhausted.
He had some grave injuries on his body, and similarly, all the other older ones went back to their hay beds and lay down silently.

The mother picked up the dead creature from the ground and brought it closer to the newborns, dropping it at their feet.
The newborns happily ran toward the corpse of the larger creature and began to feast on it. Blanco walked toward the creatures, but his eyes remained on the older ones. He wanted to know what had actually happened.
The next morning, Blanco woke up at the crack of dawn when the first sun rays shone through a tiny hole in the tree nest where they were staying.
The whole nest was aweke at that moment. All the older ones woke up and gathered in front of the door of the hole.
Blanco and the other newborns gazed at them curiously, wondering what was about to happen.
"Now that I look at them, they are kind of cool,"
Blanco noticed that the markings on the older ones were somewhat attractive in a fiery way. He also observed that some of their fur had a contrasting color.
At that moment, the father creature walked toward them. He passed by everyone, acknowledging some with a nod while completely ignoring others. After reaching the front, the father looked back at all of them.
Graaa!
He roared, and all the older ones followed suit. The one who stood at the front of the group walked toward the father. The father leaned his head forward and touched the other's head. Suddenly, a blinding light appeared from the father's head and passed to the other one.
Closing his eyes, the older one received the blue light and backed away. Similarly, the father did this with a few others who had powerful bodies. Blanco noticed that almost all of them had a change in the color of their fur.
After passing the blue light to the final one, the father opened the lid that covered the hole in their nest and gazed back at the older ones.
Graaaw!
He roared.
Krwe!
Suddenly, the mother roared from behind.
At the same time, all the older ones roared together as they launched out from the hole and jumped out fromtthe nest.
"Wait, this isn't what I think it is, right?" Blanco had a clue about what had happened but needed proof to believe it, so he deliberately set the thought aside for the right moment to decide.
Father and mother gazed at the older ones leaving the nest. Some curious newborns got close to them, peeking their heads out from the hole to look at the outside world.
After a while, once the older ones had left the nest, the father also departed for his hunt. The nest returned to its usual inhabitants: the mother and her kids.
Munch!
Munch!
Digging deeper into the flesh of the giant creature's remains from the previous night, Blanco ate to his heart's content.
The other newborns, carefully avoiding the parts where Blanco was eating, ate their meals.
After eating a stomachful breakfast, Blanco played comfortably on the hay bed and dove into sleep.
When he reopened his eyes, it was already nighttime. Gazing outside, he saw the darkness slowly swallowing the forest. At that moment, his father returned with a frog-like creature in his mouth, and he came alone.
"Guess what I thought is right. After taking care of us in our little childhood, we have to leave this nest and fend for ourselves, alone in this forest," Blanco thought as his father shut the door.
He looked outside through the closing door and saw the forest covered in darkness, feeling a bit terrified by the thought.
