Chapter 13 - Someone to trust

In the area where the newborns were devouring the crops of the lizard creatures, the chubby creature and the tiny female frost maker paused in their eating to gaze at Blanco, who was engrossed in his unusual training.

Observing Blanco stop his training, rest, and then attempt to push the rock, the little female frost maker dashed towards the empty space and began to run around, imitating what Blanco had done.

After seeing the little one doing what he intended to do, the chubby one ran behind her and joined in her training.

Having pushed the rock a bit away from its original place, Blanco turned around to run a few laps to build his stamina. However, he was surprised to find his training space already occupied by two other individuals.

"aren't these the annoying two?" Blanco recognized them, recalling that the two of them had been rather clingy to him in the past.

"Well, if they decide to follow my training, they can do it as they wish. It won't be a hassle to me at this point, and I'm done for the day anyway," After observing them for a few minutes, Blanco found a comfortable place to sleep and lay down.

As the sun rose from the horizon, the group of frost makers left the nest early in the morning.

Following behind the father, Blanco quickly ran, this time staying very close to him, with only a few frost makers between them.

Running so closely behind his father, Blanco realized how much he's still ungrown. Just to keep up with father had to exert all of his effort to running.

"Think of this as training, Blanco," he muttered to himself while running.

"But where is he leading us today?" The path they were taking today was different from the way they had gone before.

After climbing down from the tree, the father began to run through the dense terrain, passing rocky mud puddles and some very spiky plants. Eventually, he led them to a giant fallen tree.

The tree had been split down the middle, with a large scorch mark where it had broken.

"A fire... no, maybe it's lightning," Blanco muttered, looking up at the sky.

But he didn't have much time to dwell on it as the father continued his way towards the fallen trunk of the larger tree. Climbing up onto the fallen tree trunk, the father began to run along it, followed by his children in a line.

"This is way larger than I initially expected," Blanco thought after a few minutes passed of running through the tree branch, realizing he couldn't see the other end of the tree trunk.

The father creature, who was in the lead, sped up and swiftly moved up to the branch. After another few minutes of running, Blanco saw the end of the trunk. It had fallen onto another bunch of trees, crushing them and tearing them apart with its weight.

"Is he going all the way to the tip?" Blanco wondered, seeing his father had no intention of slowing down. But as they got closer to the tip, his mind changed immediately.

"What the..."

Approaching the tip of the tree trunk, Blanco saw that the ground below them had been broken apart into two sides, revealing a large underground valley beneath them. Running through the valley was a beautifully lined series of waterfalls, which appeared mesmerizing to Blanco's eyes.

To the far eyes, the underground valley couldn't be seen as the ground on either side of it hugged too closely, obscuring the view. However, one could only see the underground river valley by climbing through the tree trunk.

From the underground valley, there was a larger tree that grew tall enough to reach the level of the higher ground where Blanco stood. From the top of the tree trunk, the father creature jumped to a branch of the giant tree that grew from the underground.

"does he want us to jump to that?" Blanco became confused, observing what his father had done. Considering the height they were at, if one missed the steps to the other tree branch and fell, they would surely die from the fall.

"Well, let's see who's courageous enough to be the first one to do that," Blanco thought as he looked at the others. However, at that moment, something else caught his attention. The few others who were with him in the front slowly backed away after seeing their father jump to the other tree branch, leaving Blanco as the only one in front of them in the line.

"You cowards, where is that rivalry of yours from before?" Blanco complained, looking at them, but he quickly turned his gaze forward, knowing it was pointless to blame them.

He slowly walked toward the top of the tree trunk he was on, the lower underground below visible to him just a step away.

"Whoa, don't be fearful, Blanco, you can do this," he whispered to himself, closing his eyes and lifting up his head. Upon opening them, he looked to the other side where his father was watching him from the other tree branch.

Seeing his father's eyes, Blanco felt something. His father's eyes held no fear of him falling, and they seemed to completely trust Blanco that he could do it.

"He seems so confident in me," Blanco thought as he looked once again below, but this time he didn't feel fear.

Phew!

"Here goes everything," Blanco muttered, taking a leap and jumping forward.

In the next moment, he was floating above the gap between the two tree branches. To Blanco, it felt like his whole body was itching to touch some solid ground as soon as possible.

Thud!

The tree branch shook as Blanco successfully landed on the other side.

"I did it, let's go!" Joy overflowed in Blanco's heart. His father had an acknowledging look on his face, and the other newborns who hesitated to be the first to jump got some of their courage bolstered by Blanco's feat.

Following Blanco's steps, they ran forward and jumped to the other side of the tree branch. Within a few minutes, almost all of them managed to make the leap, and the only one left was the little female creature.

Standing at the tip of the tree branch, she gazed at the other side where the others, including Blanco, were. She looked down and saw the deep valley below.

"She seems so.. unconfident in herself," Blanco thought to himself, observing the expression on the little one's face.

"She just needs someone to boost up her courage a bit... Just like me before..."

The female little creature lifted her head after looking at the deep valley, her face filled with fearful expressions. On one side, she was afraid she would fall, and on the other side, she feared that the others would leave her.

Filled with these thoughts, her gaze once again aimed toward Blanco.

Her facial expression softened as she saw Blanco's face. It expressed a sense of confidence and belief, a belief in her.

The fearful thoughts in her heart melted away, and taking a step forward, she unknowingly, like a puppet controlled by strings, jumped forward.

In the air, she moved towards the other tree branch, but once she closed her eyes, her speed slowed, and she began to fall downwards.

Thump!

She only managed to touch the tree branch before falling down.

"No..." Even before the father acted, Blanco swiftly moved forward and bit the hand of the female little creature, dragging her up.

Her eyes were closed, drowned in fear, but once she began to feel the touch of the surface, she opened her eyes and saw Blanco in front of her, and she was on a tree branch.

Looking at the two of them, the father's face broke into a smile. Turning around,he began to run down through the tree in the next moment.
