The night was cool and pleasant. A few clouds in the sky, other than that, a creamy full moon was the center of attention with its starry companions.
A school was holding a special party for a student who topped the school.
It’s not every day a 17-year-old who, despite his age and being in 1st year, in just 4 months not only got promoted to a 2nd year but then got promoted to 3rd year again and topped the entire school.
You can say he deserved the party.
The hall was decorated extravagantly, and delectable cuisines were prepared. They even hired some professional musicians to come and play. The party was a formal one.
The teachers and the Principal were praising the honored student. Some students envied him, some were amazed, and others wondering how did it happen? He was then called on stage to receive his award.
‘I would like to call Alexander Dean to come on stage and receive his award.’
The principal announced.
But wait, Special party? Fancy music? Special cuisines? Award? To put it in a nutshell, Life going too well! Now that’s suspicious.
Suddenly the hall went dim.
The hall, which was lit up by the chandeliers, was now being illuminated only by the moonlight coming from the windows, and everyone was having trouble adjusting to the new light.
‘A power outage, maybe?’
The Principal said, judging the situation.
‘Everyone, stay calm.’
He saw the students started feeling uneasy.
'It's most likely to be a power outage or a blown fuse. I will send a teacher to check it out, so don't worry.'
‘Sir, I smell something strange in the air.’
The narrative has been illicitly obtained; should you discover it on Amazon, report the violation.
A student raised his hand, sniffing, and breathing the air.
‘It’s like a strange chemical.’
‘Me too.’
Another said.
‘Me too.’
The chemical which the students were inhaling quickly spread out and covered the entire hall and put everyone in a drunk like state. Within moments everyone was out stone cold.
Everyone except Alex who, strangely enough, had expected this.
‘Jason, it’s happening.’
Alex spoke into a wireless earbud, which he fixed in his ear.
‘Do you see him around?’
‘Yes. He is on his way towards the hall.’
Jason responded, looking at the red dot on a digital map.
--Wait, he is starting to move fast, too fast.
He saw the red dot now moving like it was on fire.
--An average person cannot move this quickly.
‘Alex, be ready. He is coming in hot.’
--So, he finally transformed.
Alex could hear giant footsteps, each which shook the ground underneath, coming toward the hall’s entrance door.
A beast-like creature that looked like that if the Hulk and a Gorilla were to fall in love, he would be the result.
A "Hairy Hulk," which Alex named him, burst through the door.
It scanned the hall, and as soon as he saw Alex, hurled a chair towards him as if it was made of paper. Alex, knowing that he can’t dodge it because if he did, the chair might hit someone else, grabbed it with both hands, which was thrown at him at a ridiculous speed.
--I think I broke a bone somewhere.
Alex stretched his hand to relax them, which were now trembling due to the aftershocks.
‘Now then, let’s get started.’
Alex was now ready to start the mission BUT
A few minutes later
‘Man! How did it end up like this?’
Alex was running in the hallway, desperately trying Not to let the Hairy Hulk destroy the entire school and quite possibly kill a certain someone or everyone in it.
‘I am certain it is your fault, Alex.’
Jason was now scanning different parts of the school, one by one, in search of a clue that might lead to a hidden passage while Alex was busy running a marathon.
‘Shut up, and it’s not.’
Alex looked backed to check if the beast was still following him, and sure enough, the Hairy Hulk was determined to catch Alex and was rampaging towards him.
‘Now where to? That Hairy Hulk is going to destroy the entire place.’
‘Alex!’
--Oh shit.
Alex headed towards the gym hall. Intriguingly, the beast could speak.
‘Where are you?’
The Hairy Hulk entered the hall, searching for Alex. Alex quietly crept into a corner and hid himself.
‘Come on out and let’s have a chat like civilized people, okay?’
--You’re the last person on Earth I would want to say that.
Alex called out to him because, like a "Hulk" and a "Gorilla," he had started smashing things.
‘Over here, you Hairy Hulk.’
Alex ran out of the gym, and expectedly the beast followed.
‘Jason! Hurry up and find the stupid place.’
Even though Alex said it wasn't his fault, deep down he knew, it was and wasn’t his fault. Well sort of, anyway.
