The night was cool and pleasant, few clouds in the sky, other than that the sky was filled with stars and a beautiful full moon.
It all had come to the party just as Alex planned it would. It was now or never.
The hall where the party was to be held was decorated extravagantly, delectable cuisines were prepared, they even hired some professional musicians to come and play, the party was a formal one.
After all, it’s not every day a 17-year-old who, despite his age and being in 1st year, in just 4 months not only got promoted to the 2nd year but then got promoted to 3rd year again and topped the entire school.
‘Are you all set?’
Alex texted Jason a message to which he responded.
‘Yes’
Jason was at the rooftop of the school patiently.
‘I still cannot believe that I went according to his plan.’
Final exams were coming in a month. Hikaru was to be put under strict supervision to see if he made any contact with Jira or Dr. Watson and if he did, Jason will arrest them both and try to get hold of serum, which Hikaru used to transform.
Even if no contact could be found, there was still a way to remove him from Jira and catch Dr. Watson. Hikaru’s main objective was to be the smartest in school, killing Alex or gaining immense strength was only secondary.
Even though Hikaru was being manipulated and had given himself up to illegal experiments, there was still some good in him that resisted all of this.
Alex was going to crush that small goodness in him to fully drive Hikaru into insanity, all to save him. The plan was to beat Hikaru in the final exams, request a party, taking a gamble that Hikaru would try to transform into the Hairy Hulk at the party.
Even if Dr. Watson made no contact with Hikaru, he was sure to make it then, giving them a chance to get ahold of Dr. Watson, and if nothing else, they can at least get the transformation serum. It’s a win-win situation.
When Alex told Jason the plan, he rejected it.
‘This is absurd and naïve. I expected better from you, Alex.’
‘I’m telling you this is a win-win situation.’
‘You think I will go according to your plan?’
The narrative has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the infringement.
‘Then we will fate decide. I challenge you to rock, paper, scissors match, the loser does whatever the winner wants.’
This isn’t some game Alex’
Jason started to get furious, and Alex began to taunt him
‘What’s the matter? Afraid you will lose.’
‘I’m not going to give in to your cheap provocation.’
‘A WS agent is refusing a challenge, what a coward. Your father would be ashamed of you.’
’Leave My FATHER out of this. I accept your challenge. You better be prepared.’
--I knew I shouldn’t have said it, but he left me no choice.
‘Alright, this is a one-round match, no do-overs, and we will throw at the count of three.’
‘Fine’
‘Okay, here we go, one.’
--Normally women throw scissors, and men throw rock on their first throw, but since Jason’s thinking is complex, so he will also throw scissors, so my best option is rock. That is what Alex would be thinking.
‘Two’
--He thinks I do not know that simple psychology, but this game is as good as won. I only have to throw paper, and that would be the end of it. You lose Alex.
‘Three’
Jason stared at Alex as he lost. Jason threw paper while, for some reason, Alex threw scissors.
‘Yay, I won.’
--How?
‘You didn’t think that I would have thought about what you would be thinking that I would have been thinking.’
Alex answered the question which Jason only thought of.
‘Sometimes, the enemy who is the hardest to defeat is yourself.’
Jason was shocked by Alex’s word.
‘Jason, trust me. This plan is going to work.’
Alex said it with determination. Jason thought he was two steps ahead of the game, but Alex was four steps ahead.
‘Fine, I will honor my word.’
Jason finally gave in and followed the plan.
He repeated Alex’s word as he patiently waited.
‘Sometimes, the enemy who is the hardest to defeat is yourself.’
Alex also wore a suit and entered the hall. The hall was already filled with students and teachers.
‘Hi Alex, congratulations again for getting the highest score in school.’
Asuna cheerfully greeted Alex.
‘Thanks, Asuna, and tough luck, Hikaru. The competition was extremely close.’
Alex patted Hikaru on the shoulder. Asuna’s face had lit up when she saw Alex and Hikaru had the total opposite reaction.
‘Alex, there you are, come over here.’
The Principle saw Alex and called him over. There were teachers and Principals from other schools, and he wanted Alex to meet them.
‘I’ve got to go, see you later.’
‘Bye, Alex’
All this time, Hikaru was silent.
‘I need to go to the toilet Asuna, I’ll be right back.’
‘Okay’
‘Let’s see where you actually go.’
When Alex patted Hikaru on the shoulder, he placed a small tracker on him. That tracker was no ordinary tracker, it was a WS tracker.
Not only does it tells the position of the person whom it’s on, but it also records voices and gives 360° rotational footage in high quality too.
All in the size of a tiny ladybug.
Jason had also hacked all of the school’s cameras too, just to be safe. He watched from his mobile Hikaru’s every step. Suddenly all connection was lost.
‘What just happened?’
‘It seems there was a bug on you, Hikaru.’
A man in a lab coat came carrying a small brown bag and took the tracker off Hikaru, immediately crushing it.
‘Do you have the chemicals?’
‘Of course, I do, but remember these are extremely expensive, so make sure you put them to good use.’
‘I will.’
The man handed the bag over to Hikaru.
The plan was to immediately capture Hikaru and Dr. Watson as soon as they made contact, but seeing how the tracker was instantly destroyed, Jason dared not to make a move as it might make things even worse.
