Chapter 2: not your typical summoner!

Previously in when a Filipino got Isekai'd with a twist "only I can summon those"

As I wandered deeper into the armory, I used my new skill called appraisal to know what's the weapon's condition or level or rank. As I scan the area, I notice various weapons that don't belong to me. It's says, "Unequippable. Not for your class. Unable to equip." "For fuck's sake." Because of the summoner restrictions. "Man, based on what I watched in movies and animes, at least many of them can use weapons. Dear God, just give me some."

I murmur to myself as we walk around the giant weapon room. I notice a section filled with various staffs and wands. One staff, in particular, caught my eye. It was slender and elegantly carved, with a crystal orb at the top that sparkled with a myriad of colors. I approached it, feeling a strange pull toward the staff.

"What's this?" I asked aloud, reaching out to touch it. As my fingers brushed against the cool surface, a surge of energy coursed through me, and the orb began to glow brighter.

"Ah, the Staff of Echoes," the emperor said, stepping closer. "It is said to amplify the abilities of a summoner, allowing them to call forth more powerful entities. However, it requires a strong will to wield."

"Amplify my abilities?" I repeated, my heart racing. "That sounds promising."

"Indeed," the emperor nodded. "But be warned, it will test your resolve. If you choose this staff, you must be prepared to face challenges that will push you to your limits."

I took a deep breath, weighing my options. The idea of wielding a staff that could enhance my summoning powers was enticing. "Score! I... I mean, I’ll take it," I declared, my voice steady. "I want the Staff of Echoes," he said. As I appraise it, I can see its stats.

I stared at my status window, my heart racing as I processed the numbers. The Staff of Echoes was already boosting my stats significantly, and I felt a surge of excitement at the potential it held. But as I scanned my teammate's stats, my shoulder went limp. "Fuck it, what do I expect from the weakest class? All of their stats are all at +20.

I couldn't help but feel a wave of self-doubt wash over me as I compared my stats to those of my companions. Joshua, with his divine swordmaster class, had an impressive array of abilities, and the others—Chris, Vismond, and the army-cut guy—were all equally formidable. Their stats were double mine, and I felt like I was standing in the shadow of giants.

"Hey, don't look so down, Keith," Joshua said, noticing my expression. "You’ve got that staff now, and it sounds like it could really help you out. Plus, summoners can be pretty versatile. You just need to find the right strategy."

"Yeah, right," I replied, forcing a smile. "I’ll just be the guy who stands in the back and throws swords while you all do the heavy lifting."

"Don't underestimate yourself," Chris chimed in, his voice reassuring. "Every class has its strengths. You just need to figure out how to use yours effectively."

"Don't underestimate yourself," Chris chimed in, his voice reassuring. "Every class has its strengths. You just need to figure out how to use yours effectively."

"Exactly; we might need your brains in strategizing," Vismond added, his violet hair catching the light as he nodded. "You might surprise us all. Besides, we’re in this together. We’ll support each other."

I took a deep breath, trying to shake off the lingering self-doubt. My companions were right; I needed to focus on what I could bring to the table rather than what I lacked. After all, we were in this together, and I had a feeling that my summoning abilities could turn out to be more useful than I initially thought.

"Alright, let's do this," I said, my voice gaining a bit more confidence. "I may not be the strongest, but I’ll figure out how to make this summoner thing work for me."

The emperor smiled, clearly pleased with my newfound determination. "That’s the spirit, Keith. Remember, the true strength of a hero lies not just in their power but in their heart and resolve."

With my Staff of Echoes in hand, we left the armory and headed to our rooms as they happily discussed what we were going to do tomorrow and our positioning. They advised me to remain at the back and watch the rear while I figured out my summoning skills. And before I sleep, I notice 4 unopened messages, and I ask Joshua how to open them.

"Hey, Joshua," I called out, trying to catch his attention as he was chatting animatedly with Chris and Vismond about their plans for the monster hunt. "How do I open these messages? I have four of them, and I have no idea what they are." (The messages hovering in front of my eyes)

"Oh, what do you mean, message?" He asked back.

"Yeah, you know, like in the game?" Keith asks again.

"Oh, that's simple; just say open messages, I think," he said while brandishing his sword. As I repeat his words, the messages open up, and my eyes widen. As I read through the messages, I thought, "Fuck the what?

The messages flickered to life before me, each one glowing with a faint light. I felt a mix of anticipation and dread as I began to read through them, my heart racing with each line.

"Bruh! This is awesome! It means I can summon monsters, not guns!" I excitedly think to myself, hiding my grin into my blanket. "Oh, open the next message," I command.

Message 2: Skill Acquisition Congratulations! You have unlocked a new skill: "Summon Familiar." Description: Call forth a small creature to assist you in battle. The familiar will grow stronger as you do. Cooldown: 10 minutes. Summon grade: basic level.

I blinked, processing the information. The first message was a quest, which seemed straightforward enough. The second was a skill that could potentially change the tide of battle for me. The third was an item that could enhance my abilities, and the last one was a stark reminder of my current limitations.

System message notification!!! "Huh, another one?! Ok, open!?" As I open the message, it puts a smile on my face. "This is what I needed.

Daily Quest! 10 push-ups and 10 sit-ups. 10 squats. 10 minutes run.

Reward: 10 experience points. 1 stat point

I couldn't help but chuckle at the simplicity of the last message. "Daily quest? Really? This is what I need to do to level up?" I thought, shaking my head in amusement. But as I considered it, I realized that even the smallest tasks could contribute to my growth.

"Alright, I can do this," I muttered to myself, feeling a renewed sense of purpose. "If I want to be a better summoner, I need to get stronger, and that means putting in the work."

With my mind made up, I decided to tackle the daily quest first thing in the morning. I could already envision myself doing push-ups and sit-ups, feeling the burn in my muscles as I pushed through the exercises. It was a small step, but it was a step nonetheless.

I glanced at the other messages again, excitement bubbling within me. The quest to summon a creature from the wild was particularly enticing. "I wonder what kind of creature I could summon," I mused. "Maybe a wolf or a hawk? Something that could help me scout or fight."

The skill "Summon Familiar" also intrigued me. A small creature to assist me in battle could be a game-changer. I imagined a tiny dragon or a mischievous sprite flitting around, distracting enemies while I summoned more powerful beings.

As I lay in bed, I felt a sense of camaraderie with my teammates. They were all strong, but I had my own unique path to carve. I might not be the strongest fighter, but with the right strategy and my new abilities, I could contribute in ways they might not expect.

The thought of unlocking new summons excited me. I could already picture the various creatures I could encounter and the potential they held. Each rank of summon had its own unique abilities, and I was determined to unlock as many as I could.

With a yawn, I settled into my blankets, the Staff of Echoes resting beside me. I felt a sense of comfort knowing that I had a powerful tool at my disposal. The challenges ahead would be daunting, but I was ready to face them head-on.

As I drifted off to sleep, I made a mental note to discuss my plans with the others in the morning. I wanted to strategize how we could tackle the quest together and make the most of my new abilities. In my dream world, I can see a lot of things like swords, guns, shotguns, and mini guns, and what's makes my eyes widen is the futuristic mecha Gundams, mecha suits, Iron Man's suits, and Mask Rider suits. Lightsaber and many things. "Man, I wish I could summon those babies!" As I said that, I heard a notification, but I didn't see a system message, so I ignored it and continued to drift into my sleep.

A vivid voice reverberates; it's unclear for him what he hears. Congratulations! The system grants your wish!!!!

The next morning, I woke up early, the sun just beginning to rise. I stretched, feeling the stiffness in my muscles from the previous day's excitement. "Time to get to work," I said to myself, pushing off the blankets and getting out of bed.

I started with the push-ups, counting each one as I went. The burn in my arms and chest felt good, a reminder that I was taking steps to improve myself. After finishing the push-ups, I moved on to sit-ups and squats, each repetition fueling my determination.

Once I completed the exercises, I felt invigorated. I could already feel a slight increase in my stamina, and I was eager to see how it would translate into my abilities.

System notification alert!!

You complete your daily quest!

Do you want to accept your reward? Yes, no?

Huh? Isn't it obvious? Yeeessssss!!! I exaggeratedly answer as I receive my rewards and see my status window. I have one point to allocate into my stats. "Uhm… where should I put you…? Ok, there I put the new stat at defense. It's better than sturdy than sorry, hihihi," I chuckle.

As I allocated my stat point into defense, I felt a subtle shift within me. It was as if a protective barrier had been reinforced, making me feel a bit more secure in my role as a summoner. I glanced at my status window again, noting the changes.

Status Window:

I couldn't help but smile at the progress I was making. It was just the beginning, but every little bit counted. I felt a surge of motivation as I thought about the quest ahead and the potential creatures I could summon.

After finishing my morning routine, I decided to head to the common area where my teammates were likely gathering. As I walked through the halls, I could hear their laughter and chatter, a comforting sound that reminded me I wasn't alone in this journey.

When I entered the common area, I found Joshua, Chris, Vismond, and Cain already discussing their plans for the day. They looked up as I approached, and Joshua grinned.

"Hey, look who decided to join us! How's the summoner life treating you?" he teased, a playful glint in his eyes.

"Pretty good, actually," I replied, feeling a bit more confident. "I completed my daily quest and even got a stat point to allocate."

"Defense," I said, shrugging. "I figured it’s better to be sturdy than sorry, right?"

"Smart move," Vismond nodded. "You’ll need all the defense you can get, especially if you’re planning to summon creatures that might draw aggro. But wait, you can receive a daily quest?"

"Huh?! You don't have one? Keith asked back, eyes widened.

"Yeah, we all don't have one except for the three main quests: defeat the demon lord's and become stronger just like that," Joshua replied, scratching his head. "I mean, I’ve been focusing on my own training and getting the wits of my class, you know, but I didn’t realize you had a daily quest system. Bruh, that's cheating," Josh jokingly said.

I chuckled at Joshua's playful jab. "Cheating? More like a unique advantage," I replied, feeling a sense of pride in my newfound abilities. "But hey, every little bit helps, right?"

Chris leaned forward, intrigued. "So, what’s your plan for today? You mentioned something about a quest?"

"Yeah, I got a quest called 'The Call of the Wild.' I need to summon a creature from the wild to aid us," I explained, excitement bubbling in my chest. "I was thinking we could tackle it together. Maybe you guys can help me find a good spot to summon something?"

Vismond nodded, his violet hair swaying slightly. "That sounds like a solid plan. We can scout the nearby forest; it’s known for having a variety of creatures. Just be careful; some of them can be quite aggressive."

"Exactly," Joshua added, his expression serious for a moment. "We should stick together. If you summon something, it might attract attention, and we don’t want to get overwhelmed."

"Right," I agreed, feeling a mix of anticipation and nerves. "I’ll do my best to summon something useful. Maybe a wolf or a bird for scouting?"

"Those sound like great options," Chris said, his enthusiasm infectious. "Let’s get moving then! The sooner we start, the sooner you can summon your first creature."

With that, we gathered our gear and set out toward the forest. The morning sun filtered through the trees, casting dappled shadows on the ground as we walked. I felt a sense of camaraderie with my teammates, their presence reassuring as we ventured into the unknown.

As we approached the edge of the forest, the atmosphere shifted. The sounds of chirping birds and rustling leaves filled the air, creating a serene backdrop for our adventure. I could feel the excitement bubbling within me, mixed with a hint of anxiety. This was my first real opportunity to prove myself as a summoner, and I wanted to make it count.

"Alright, Keith," Joshua said, breaking the silence as we reached a clearing. "This looks like a good spot. It’s open enough for you to summon something without too many distractions."

I nodded, taking a deep breath to steady my nerves. "Thanks, guys. I appreciate the support." I stepped into the center of the clearing, feeling the energy of the forest around me. The Staff of Echoes felt warm in my hand, almost as if it was resonating with the natural magic of the area.

"Remember, focus on what you want to summon," Chris advised, his voice calm and encouraging. "Visualize it in your mind, and let the staff channel that energy."

I closed my eyes, picturing a majestic wolf with shimmering fur, strong and agile. I imagined it bounding through the forest, ready to protect and assist us. But all I can see is a sword, a lot of it. But I ignore it. I summon thee, creature of the wild!"I called out, raising the Staff of Echoes high. "Come forth and aid me! "I said, but in my surprise, I heard a system notification, and it says, Unable to summon; please select/buy your summon at the summon selection window.

I blinked in confusion as the notification faded away. "Unable to summon? What do you mean?" I muttered, glancing at my teammates, who were watching me with a mix of curiosity and concern.

"What's wrong?" Joshua asked, stepping closer. "Did it work?"

"I... I think I need to select a summon first," I replied, feeling a bit embarrassed. "It seems I can't just call forth any creature I want without having it unlocked or selected first, hehehe," I shyly said, scratching my head.

Chris furrowed his brow. "That makes sense. You have summon slots, right? Maybe you need to fill those slots with specific creatures before you can summon them."

"Yeah, I guess that’s how it works," I said, feeling a bit deflated. "I thought I could just summon whatever I imagined."

Vismond crossed his arms, a thoughtful expression on his face. "Well, you have 50 summon points available. Maybe you can use those to unlock a creature right now?"

"Right!" I exclaimed, feeling a spark of hope. "Let me check the summon selection window."

I focused my mind, trying to access the summon selection interface. A translucent screen appeared before me, displaying a list of basic weapons. As I saw that, my eyes widened in disbelief. WEAPONS! What the fuck is that!!!? "I shouted as the basic window opens. It's reveals tons of basic tier weapons like.

*Basic sword: 5 points. To unlock

*Basic bow: 5 points to unlock

*Basic spear: 5 points to unlock

Basic shield: 5 points to unlock

Basic medkit: 5 points to unlock

Basic knife: 5 points to unlock

Basic longsword: 5 points to unlock

Throwing knife: 5 points to unlock.

Basic leather armor set: 10 points to unlock

Basic chainmail: 5 points to unlock

Once unlocked, you can put it in your item box, but when destroyed, you need to buy it again at your item shop.

I stared at the list of weapons, my mind racing. "What the hell? I thought I was supposed to summon creatures, not weapons!" I exclaimed, frustration bubbling up inside me. "This is not what I had in mind at all!"

Joshua raised an eyebrow, glancing at the screen. "Well, it looks like you can unlock weapons instead of creatures. Maybe it’s a unique feature of your summoner class?"

"Yeah, but I wanted a wolf or something cool, not a basic sword!" I groaned, running a hand through my hair. "What am I supposed to do with a sword? I can’t even equip it!"

"Hahahaha, maybe this is the reason why your class is considered as the weakest class in this world, Vismond said while laughing.

I shot Vismond a glare, but I couldn't help the small smile that crept onto my face. "Thanks for the support, Vismond," I said sarcastically, rolling my eyes. "But seriously, this is frustrating. I thought summoners were supposed to call forth powerful creatures, not just weapons."

"Yeah, in our world, or in animes, yes. But here, a summoner was considered the weakest of all. This makes sense when Emperor Vlad explains it to us yesterday. Chris chimes in.

"Maybe there's more to it than just weapons," Joshua suggested, trying to be optimistic. "You might be able to summon creatures later on, but for now, it looks like you have to start with what's available, or maybe later on Guns?" As he says that, my eyes widen because I remember seeing something besides the basic weapons.

"Wait, did you say guns?" I asked, my heart racing at the thought. "Are there guns in this summon selection?"

Joshua shrugged, a grin spreading across his face. "I mean, if there are weapons, there might be firearms too. You just have to keep looking."

I quickly scanned the summon selection window again, my eyes darting over the list of basic weapons. Sure enough, as I scrolled down, I spotted a few entries that made my pulse quicken:

*Basic flintlock: 10 points to unlock

*Basic Buffalo Bill Remington: 15 points to unlock

*Basic yellow hair Remington revolver: 20 points to unlock

*Basic shotgun Cimarron 1878: 10 points to unlock

*Basic crossbow: 10 points to unlock

*Basic ammo 10 points to unlock

Other weapons will be available after you level up.

I couldn't believe my eyes. The prospect of summoning firearms was exhilarating. "This is insane!" I exclaimed, my excitement bubbling over. "I can actually summon guns! This changes everything!"

"Whoa, hold on a second," Chris said, raising a hand. "Just because you can summon guns doesn't mean you should rush into it. You still need to think strategically about what you want to unlock."

"Yeah, remember you only have 50 points for now," Josh added.

"Yeah, I get that," I replied, my mind racing with possibilities. "But think about it! I could summon a shotgun for close combat or a revolver for quick shots. It could really help us out in battles! Hahaha, call me The American!!!" I smugly said. .

"Is it it only guns and swords that are the ones you can summon, or are there more you're not looking at?" Cain chimed in.

As he said that, I noticed under the bar basic weapons are

Condition and level haven't met.

Normal weapons (lock)

Advanced weapons (lock)

Expert weapons (lock)

Veteran weapons (lock)

I felt a mix of excitement and frustration as I scanned the locked categories. "So, it looks like I can only summon basic weapons for now," I said, my enthusiasm slightly dampened. "But at least I have options."

"Hey, don't get discouraged," Joshua said, clapping me on the back. "You’ve got a unique opportunity here. Not many summoners can wield weapons, even if they’re basic ones. You can still be a valuable asset to the team."

"Yeah, I guess you're right," I replied, trying to shake off the disappointment. "But I still want to summon a creature. I mean, that’s what summoners do, right?"

Just give up on that. You're not a summoner for creatures; you're a summoner of Moder weapons! Think about it, Keith; this is why this world summoner is considered weak because they can't use or understand how to use a gun, let alone shoot it. Or maybe just maybe... Summoner in this world is a job specific for us... otherworlders." As he says that, our eyes widen at the realization.

"Wait, are you saying that summoners in this world are specifically meant for otherworlders like us?" I asked, my mind racing with the implications. "That would explain why I can summon weapons instead of creatures."

"Exactly," Cain said, nodding thoughtfully. "It seems like the system is tailored to your unique background. You might not be able to summon creatures like traditional summoners, but you can wield weapons that could turn the tide in battle."

"That’s a pretty big advantage," Chris added, his eyes gleaming with excitement. "If you can summon firearms, you could provide ranged support while we handle close combat."

"Yeah, but I still feel like I’m missing out on the whole summoning creatures aspect," I admitted, crossing my arms. "I wanted to be the one calling forth powerful beasts to fight alongside us."

"And maybe this is why you got summoned here with us, because we will be needing you in this battle," Joshua added, and our faces darken.

The weight of Joshua's words hung in the air, a stark reminder of the challenges we faced. The looming threat of the demon lord and the battles ahead made it clear that we needed every advantage we could muster. I took a deep breath, trying to shake off the lingering frustration about my summoning abilities.

"Alright, let's focus on what we can do," I said, determination creeping back into my voice. "I may not be able to summon creatures right now, but I can still unlock some powerful weapons. And who knows? Maybe one day instead of a dragon, I can summon a Gundam," I jokingly said. And all of their heads turn to me. .

"Wait, did you just say Gundam?" Joshua asked, his eyes wide with disbelief. "You mean those giant robot suits from that anime?"

"Yeah, exactly!" I replied, a grin spreading across my face. "Imagine summoning a massive mech to fight alongside us. That would be epic!"

Vismond chuckled, shaking his head. "As much as I love the idea, I think we should focus on the basics for now. You have 50 summon points, and we need to make sure you choose wisely."

"Right, right," I said, trying to rein in my excitement. "But still, the thought of summoning a giant robot is just too cool to ignore."

"Okay, let's get back on track," Chris said, his tone serious. "What do you want to unlock first? You have a few options, and we should strategize based on what we might face in the wild."

I nodded, taking a moment to consider my choices. "I think I should start with a ranged weapon. A basic shotgun could be useful for close combat, and it would give me some firepower without putting me in too much danger."

"Good choice," Joshua agreed. "Shotguns are great for dealing with multiple enemies at close range. Plus, you can use it to cover us while we engage in melee combat."

"Alright, let's do it," I said, feeling a surge of determination. I focused on the summon selection window, my heart racing as I selected the basic shotgun.

Basic shotgun Cimarron 1878: 10 points to unlock

I confirmed my choice, and a notification appeared before me.

System Notification: You have unlocked the basic shotgun Cimarron 1878! Is now in your inventory (item box)

"Open inventory," I commanded.

I felt a rush of energy as the shotgun materialized in my hands, its weight reassuring. I examined it closely, admiring the craftsmanship. "This is awesome!" I exclaimed, feeling a newfound sense of confidence.

"Now you’re armed and ready," Chris said, giving me a thumbs-up. "What’s next?"

I glanced back at the summon selection window, contemplating my options. "I think I should unlock some basic ammo next. I don’t want to run out of firepower in the middle of a fight."

Basic ammo: 10 points to unlock

I confirmed the selection, and another notification appeared.

I felt a sense of satisfaction as I added the ammo to my inventory. "Alright, I’m feeling good about this. I have a shotgun and ammo now. I can provide some decent support."

System Notification: You have unlocked Basic Ammo! You now have in your inventory 100/100 ammo for any weapons. To replenish it, you need to use mana to fill it up. Mana needed 5 points for a basic ammo crate.

System notification alert!!

Congratulations! You have completed your job-specific quest! You are rewarded with 500 experience points!

You level up!

You level up!

You level up!

You are now level 3.

Your experience points: 0/400

You now have now 12 stat points.

"Woa, that was quick!" As I said that, I forgot about it easily because of the antics of my party.

"Just remember to aim," Vismond teased, a smirk on his face. "We wouldn’t want you to accidentally shoot one of us."

"Ha ha, very funny," I replied, rolling my eyes. "I’ll be careful."

"Okay, so what’s the plan now?" Joshua asked, looking around the clearing. "Do you want to try summoning again, or should we head into the forest to fight monsters and up?"

I took a moment to consider our options, the weight of the shotgun in my hands feeling both reassuring and empowering. "I think we should head into the forest and see if we can find some monsters to fight. I want to test out my new shotgun and see how it feels in action."

"Sounds like a plan," Joshua said, his eyes gleaming with excitement. "We can scout ahead and look for any creatures that might be lurking around."

Chris nodded in agreement. "Let’s stick together and keep an eye out for anything that looks like it could be a threat. Remember, we don’t know what we might encounter in there."

Vismond adjusted his stance, readying himself for whatever lay ahead. "I’ll take point. I can sense any hostile creatures before they get too close."

With that, we set off into the forest, the sounds of nature enveloping us as we moved deeper into the trees. The sunlight filtered through the leaves, casting a warm glow on the forest floor. I felt a mix of anticipation and nervousness as we ventured further, my heart racing at the thought of our first encounter.

As we walked, I couldn’t help but think about my new abilities. The Staff of Echoes felt like a powerful ally, and I was eager to see how it would enhance my summoning skills. I also felt a sense of pride in my decision to unlock the shotgun; it was a step toward becoming a more versatile member of our team.

After a few minutes of walking, Vismond raised a hand, signaling us to stop. "I think I hear something up ahead," he whispered, his violet hair catching the light as he focused intently on the sounds around us.

We all fell silent, straining our ears to listen. Sure enough, I could hear the faint rustling of leaves and the low growl of a creature nearby. My heart raced with excitement. "What do you think it is?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.

"Could be a wolf or something similar," Joshua replied, his expression serious. "We should be ready for anything."

"Alright, let’s approach cautiously," Chris suggested. "Keith, stay behind us and be prepared to use your shotgun if necessary."

I nodded, gripping the shotgun tightly as we moved forward, Vismond leading the way. As we crept closer, the sounds grew louder, and soon we found ourselves peering through the underbrush into a small clearing.

What we saw made my heart skip a beat. A large, feral wolf stood in the center of the clearing, its fur matted and dirty, eyes glinting with hunger. It was clearly on the prowl, searching for its next meal.

"That’s definitely a wolf," Vismond said, his voice low. "It looks like it hasn’t eaten in a while. We need to be careful."

"Should I shoot it?" I asked, my mind racing with possibilities. "Or maybe I could tame it or something?"

"Shoot it!" Cain said, and he dashed forward and started the assault. "Cover our rear! Vismond left Wolf Chris to support Josh on me!" He ordered, and everybody sprang into action as we faced not one but nine wolves, or they called a greater wolf.

Named: Greater wolves

Level: 4

Rank: E basic beats

System alert: Party Quest has arrived! Defeat the greater wolf pack. 0/9 reward: instant level up. 1 free stat.

As the chaos erupted around us, I felt a surge of adrenaline. Nine greater wolves? This was going to be a challenge. I quickly assessed the situation, my heart pounding in my chest.

"Alright, I’ll cover you!" I shouted, positioning myself behind a tree for some cover. I raised the shotgun, feeling the weight of it in my hands. The wolves were circling, their eyes glinting with predatory hunger, and I knew I had to act fast.

"Keith, aim for the lead wolf!" Joshua called out, his sword drawn and ready. "We need to take them down one at a time!"

I took a deep breath, focusing on the lead wolf as it lunged toward us. Its powerful muscles rippled beneath its fur, and I could see the sharp teeth bared in a snarl. I steadied my aim, remembering the advice Chris had given me about visualization.

"Here goes nothing," I muttered, squeezing the trigger.

The shotgun roared to life, the blast echoing through the clearing. The lead wolf yelped in surprise as the shot hit it squarely in the side, sending it tumbling to the ground.

System notification: You have defeated a Greater Wolf. 10 points will be rewarded.

You have gained 10 experience points for killing a greater wolf.

For killing a monster of its kind for the first time, you will be rewarded 200 experience points.

"Nice shot!" Chris shouted, his eyes wide with excitement. "Keep it up!"

But the other wolves were undeterred. They charged forward, their growls filling the air as they closed in on us. Vismond and Cain sprang into action, engaging the nearest wolves with swift strikes.

"Watch your backs!" Vismond shouted, dodging a wolf's lunge and countering with a powerful kick that sent it sprawling.

I quickly reloaded my shotgun, adrenaline coursing through my veins. I could feel the energy of the Staff of Echoes pulsing beside me, urging me to summon something, but I knew I had to focus on the immediate threat.

"Joshua, to your left!" I yelled, pointing as a wolf lunged at him from the side. He spun around just in time, slashing with his sword and catching the wolf mid-air.

"Thanks, Keith!" he grinned, but there was no time to celebrate. The remaining wolves were still advancing, and I needed to keep firing.

I took aim again, this time targeting a wolf that was trying to flank Vismond. I pulled the trigger, and the shotgun barked once more, the shot hitting the wolf and sending it crashing into the underbrush.

The adrenaline surged through me as I continued to fire at the advancing wolves, each shot echoing in the clearing. The chaos of battle surrounded us, but I felt a strange sense of clarity amidst the chaos. I was no longer just a summoner; I was a part of this team, and I had a role to play.

"Keep it up, Keith! You're doing great!" Chris shouted, his voice cutting through the din of growls and snarls. I could see him and Vismond working in tandem, their movements fluid as they took down wolves with precision.

I reloaded my shotgun, my heart racing as I scanned the area for my next target. The remaining wolves were becoming more aggressive, their pack mentality kicking in as they sought to overwhelm us. I could see one of them circling around, trying to flank me.

"Watch out!" I yelled, pointing at the wolf that was sneaking up on Chris. He turned just in time to see it lunging at him, and with a swift motion, he dispatched it with a well-placed strike.

"Thanks, Keith!" he called back, a grin on his face. "You're really getting the hang of this!"

I felt a surge of pride at his words, but there was no time to dwell on it. I had to stay focused. I aimed at another wolf, this one darting toward Vismond, who was currently engaged with two others. I squeezed the trigger, and the shotgun roared again, hitting the wolf squarely in the side.

"Nice shot!" Vismond shouted, dodging a wolf's attack and countering with a powerful kick that sent it sprawling. "Keep them coming!"

The remaining wolves were starting to panic, realizing that their numbers were dwindling. I could see the fear in their eyes as they hesitated, unsure of whether to continue their assault or retreat.

"Don't let up!" Joshua shouted, his sword flashing as he took down another wolf. "We need to finish this!"

I took a deep breath, feeling the energy of the Staff of Echoes coursing through me. I could sense the potential within me, the ability to summon something powerful if I just focused. But for now, I had to keep firing.

I aimed at the last two wolves, who were now trying to regroup. I pulled the trigger, and the shotgun fired once more, hitting one of them and sending it tumbling to the ground.

"Just a few more!" Chris encouraged, his voice steady. "We can do this!"

The last wolf falls because of Josh/We finally completed the party quest. And we all instantly level up. I became level 4 while the four of them reach level 5.

"Well, not much of a gap!" I said.

As the last wolf fell, the clearing fell silent except for the heavy breathing of our group. I felt a rush of exhilaration wash over me, a mix of adrenaline and triumph. We had faced down a pack of greater wolves and emerged victorious.
