First possession and first skills

First possession and first skills

Lewis had a strange look on his face as he watched the floating blue screen that showed his status, he found it amazing, a second chance at life, in such an fantastical world was a divine blessing. Lewis assumed that this world is a classic fantasy world, the likes of novels and movies, with goblins and ogres and monsters to elves and dwarves and dragons, the technology level would probably be low, medeval at best but much of it made up for by the presence of magic.

lewis decided to test his new abilities, he investigated his surroundings following every movement with inquisitive eyes, soon he discovered that the creatures that he saw had small or large blue orbs, like small fires burning inside them, and Lewis could somehow see that.

He also discovered he could turn it off at will and summoning all his knowledge of magical and fantasy worlds he theorised that these were either the magical cores of the creatures or they were the souls.

Lewis floated over to the shrubbery and seeing a rather small blue orb in a rather fruitfull berry bush he searched for what encased it, finding a large wasp, more like a hornet from earth that had a brown body with black patches, it was seated upon a leaf Lewis attempted to reach out to it and suddenly a pale blue semitransparent arm came into his vision and touched the creature, the wasp then pased out and fell to the forest floor unconsious.

Lewis then experimented with his body, if he could create an arm, surely he could create everything else, well a body or a humanoid figure at least, and he did, after about half an hour of pure agonising concentration he did it, he looked like he once did at 20 years of age though he was significantly more transparent, and more blue than the last time he appeared as he did.

the wasp he had touched had awoken and buzzed of some time ago so he had to go looking for something else to experiment on, it wasnt hard to find something and even though there were insects everywhere and he even came across rodents every now and then, the first thing he tried was a squirrel, after many unsucessful attempts at getting close to the creatures off the forest Lewis discovered that he could make himself invisible to them 'it must be because I dont have a body' he thought while pondering the reason, actually he discovered that he was invisible to them by default which also made sense as normal mortals cannot see spirits, it would seem either something made him visible when he awoke or he was wanting to be seen for some reason, the going theory was it was some sort of instinct but he was unsure.

floating through the forest Lewis decided he liked his new form, for the simple reason that he doesnt tire, no matter the length he floats there is no need to rest or relieve himself, but its a bit boring, boring in the sense that he has no sense of smell , had no sense of touch or taste but somehow he can hear thing properly without real ears, he can see without eyes, though seeing for him was like a flying camera or eye, how was that supposed to work?, he hda no idea, his new form often confused him greatly.

it was finally time to try out his new posession ability without being distracted by something else such as learning to make a body.

Lewis floated across the forest floor searching for something to posess, there were many insects but he wanted to posess something bigger 'learning to walk on six or eight legs would be a lot harder than four' he thought to himself as he stopped taking notice of the insects, he soon spotted a wood mouse though it seemed abnormally larger than its species was supposed to be, rushing forward at a speed faster than the average human would be capable of and grabbing at the life form with his pale blue transparent hands as he attempted posession but the hand passed through the body but the blue orb moved around inside the body as he pushed it though he quickly decided he wouldnt try to extract it from the body as he doesnt know what would happen and so he didnt try to pull it out, while moving the soul around the animals body it seemed to become deeply disturbed seemingly in excruciating pain as it writhed an the ground squeeking, Lewis had no way to measure how much pain it was experiencing but just watching was a profound experience.

Lewis picked the last option, and quickly his vision blured quickly turning to black, suddenly many feeling assaulted him, he began living a life but not one he could control, he lived 3 lives in his mind that were just a few seconds outside, this was the lives the soul had lived, it seemed that by consuming a soul he could also absorb its past lives as well as the one it was currently living, though he could only absorb the memories from them and not the stats and skills, the mouse previous lives were as a squirrel and as a fox, then he had abilities and their uses as well as how to execute them rush into his mind, to him it felt like hours but it was mere seconds to everyone else, a truly undiscribable experience.

after absorbing the sould Lewis felt himself slump and come in contact with the ground, it was a feeling of relief and forced him to let out a breath that he was unaware he was holding and the blue screens disappeared when he wanted to, quickly Lewis got himself back together and stood up on all fours relishing the feeling of having his feet on the ground he tried to run only to fall over being a stranger to quadrupedal movement he looked down at his hands, or, claws and realised he was a mouse, eyes widening comically he almost snapped his neck searching for predators, Lewis had once spent a long time in the wild watching such creatures, so he knew the dangers of the wild fairly well, and at the moment he was at the bottom of the food chain.

Lewis hid under the shrubbery hoping to avoid any aerial predators that could spot him though that leaves him at risk still to snakes, spiders and other things that hide in the bush, and with the world he found himself in being one of magic and monsters, then gods knows what else here is a danger to him, the thought made him weary, weary of everything, even the bush he hid under, quickly he began digging the passive skill of dig kicked in and the was he moved the earth was full of efficiency and experience, lewis dug far down, or at least far for a mouse with his main chamber being 6 ft down, he created a chamber for sleeping in, a chamber for eating in, and a chamber for shitting in, the tunnel system was rather long to get there so he decided to make a few others i nthe case that if an intruder entered one of them he could escape through another.

it took half a day to fully complete his new home, he used grass and leaves as bedding in his sleeping chamber and had the shitting room moved a lot further away from the sleeping room and lowered farther into the ground, this is for multiple reasons, the first being the smell, there would be no way to get the smell out so he made ventrs for it to the surface and as he would be using it as a wast disposal, animals may be attracted by the scent of dead creatures so the tunnel to it would be collapsed until he had to get to is 'its a little inconvenient but it will be eaasy once I get earth magic' he thought, since the world was obviously a fantasy world and he had witnessed wind magic he knew others must exist and so earth magic probably did too, he had always wanted to make the earth move to his will and so it was one of his top goals.
