Chapter 4 Day 5: Neo-Angolaism

Chapter 4 Day 5: Neo-Angolaism

Lich arrived at a location known as the Metro.

It was not actually a metro, but no one knew what purpose it served before and during the war.

People only knew that it slightly resembled a metro station (being an underground construction with two levels) and that they could name it however hey wanted to name it. Who was going to stop them?

Thus, the first universally agreed upon peace zone was established.

He rented a room, where he slept and washed himself. The next day, he would keep going after buying some food.

“Brass? Brass is uncountable, dumbass. How do you want me to give you one?”

“Cartridge cases are brass. I know you act like a tribal, but I was expecting you to be smarter than one.”

“Using shells as currency? How original. Maybe you should start speaking Russian too?”

“What the hell are you talking about? You buying or not?”

“Three kilograms of sugar for the second hardest to create part of a bullet? No.”

Some people thought they could outsmart Lich, and some of them did. But not one person could outsmart his weapon.

Luckily for the merchant, there were too many guards with guns around for Lich to kill him, so he just left grumpily.

'Right, they were using bullets not shells.' Lich realized he blew the joke. Sadly, it was too late to say it again.

He left the Metro and entered the overground parking. The fact that it was surrounded by thick concrete walls made the facility's purpose even more confusing.

As he was considering which road to walk next, two women started coming toward him.

If you come across this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.

The older one was whispering in the other's ear. Lich was too far away to hear the conversation, but could tell it was something rather inappropriate from the younger woman's reaction.

Speaking of her, she was stunning to say the least. Donning an exquisite white dress, the woman looked like a bride walking to the altar. The only thing missing was a veil.

Her skin was pale as snow, which made the blue gem on her neck, as well as her eyes of the same color, stand out even more.

About fifty meters away from Lich, the women split up. The older one went down into the Metro, while her companion kept walking toward Lich.

Seeing her expensive clothing and jewelry from up close, Lich recalled a small factoid about the Metro, and he realized why she was dressed in such a way.

Because of the small permanent population, citizens were encouraged to marry people from outside, and they could use any resources from the city if necessary.

“Did you find what you were looking for, traveler?” The woman was roughly thirty centimeters shorter than him, which was quite tall for a human female. Because of that, even when looking at her face, Lich's focus was drawn by her fat, which was right where it belonged.

“No. Some guy tried to sell me three kilograms of sugar for one brass.”

“It's a shame, but that's not I'm here. Could you join me for a meal?”

Was this a… date? With how little romantic experience Lich had, it was hard for him to tell. Logically, when a woman who is looking for a partner invites you for dinner, this must mean she is interested, right?

“I don't even know your name.” It was the best response he could come up with. Hearing it, the woman covered her face in shame.

“Sorry, let me start over. I'm Olivia, and I wanted to ask if you could spare a few hours to eat dinner with me.” She asked Lich, this time less anxious.

Few men could resist her request. She was beautiful and, as far as Lich could see, not a bad person. But why would someone like that be interested in him, a flesh-eating monster with no consideration for human life?

“Let me guess, your family forced you to talk with me.”

“No one forced me. My mother just said that people like you are looking for a place to settle down in, and that she would be happy if I helped.”

Hearing that, Lich hit his mask with the palm of his hand.

“You have to be the most clueless and naive person on earth. How old even are you?”

“Don't you know it's impolite to ask a woman's age? You're lucky I'm only seventeen.”

“You're what?! I'm not going to jail for…” He looked at her one more time. “I have an objective that's far away from here.”

“But my mother will be disappointed… Will you at least allow me to travel with you?”

Olivia was dejected. She treated her mother like a deity, so failing the assignment was not an option. She would make Lich happy no matter what.

“Do you know French?”

“No, but I can lea—”

“Then c'est la vie.” And with these words, Lich left.
