Kappsfarm was once a beautiful city. Many hotels would make a lot of money from the myriad of people coming either for tourism, or to say goodbye to their loved ones. This was because the biggest and most luxurious hospice in the world was situated right in the city center. Because of these 2 reasons, almost 98% of the city worked in services, and the other 2% was jobless.
Now, 0% of the town's population was employed in services, because it didn't exist. Everything was stolen shortly after the war ended. Everyone who survived left, because the city was incapable of being self-sufficient. These two factors made it less than a shadow of its former self.
A truly disheartening story.
But the city could once again enjoy a part of its past glory, because a single visitor used the remains of a random building that happened to be a hotel. His name was Lich, and he wanted to get some sleep before entering Windhoek, the former capital of Namibia. He didn't know if anyone saw his fight with the slavers, and lived to tell the tale. He could get attacked the second he entered, which would be a lot more survivable after sleeping for 10 hours.
The sun was slowly rising, which for once was what Lich wanted. All gates to the city were closed from 10 pm to 7 am because of the mutated animals.
Lich could see the high walls surrounding the city and four flag poles, with only two having flags on, soaring above them. As he got closer, more and more things started to look off. The sun was high in the sky, but no guards were outside. The Outer Merchant Building (also called OMB), which served as a trade center between the city and smaller sellers, was empty. But most importantly, no one was entering or leaving.
When Lich got close enough to see the front gate, he saw the reason why. An A4 sheet of paper was glued to the entrance, the text on it reading "city closed due to protests."
