Favor Points, Leaving the City

Favor Points, Leaving the City

"I'm Chloe. Do you know me?"

Jason found Chloe’s cute act strange. "No, but it's fine as long as you're a virgin. Interested in a ride in my RV? All expenses paid, just a small fee."

Chloe wiped her tears, glancing at the fallen goblins. They were badly hurt but not dead; they'd get up soon. She didn't want to face them, and nodded.

"Yes, but…" she started, wanting to say she had no money, fearing he'd refuse her.

Jason waved his hand. "Hop in."

He gestured to the passenger seat. Chloe felt relieved. She cautiously opened the door, afraid he’d demand payment.

Once in the RV, she felt safe. Jason sped out of the city, driving aggressively, even running over monsters that blocked his path. Chloe was terrified but strangely felt safe, as if nothing could harm her while inside.

Feeling secure, Chloe examined the RV. She’d seen chat messages about vehicle ranks. Regular cars were mostly C-Rank and D-Rank. Jason's RV was different. She guessed it was at least B-Rank, maybe even A-Rank. She wondered where he'd found it; she’d searched for hours and found nothing. She was envious.

They reached the city limits. As they left, the scenery changed, and the RV appeared on a deserted highway stretching to the horizon. It was wide enough for four or five RVs side-by-side. The landscape was desolate, with yellow sand and sparse, withered plants.

[You have left the city. Welcome to the Wasteland.]

[Daily rewards of gasoline and Escape Coins will be distributed based on the number of passengers.]

[Vehicles can only travel on the highway.]

[Resource chests with guardian monsters are located along the highway. Proceed with caution.]

Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.

[Important Note: Pursuers will arrive in three days. Increase your strength as soon as possible.]

A series of system messages appeared.

Chloe panicked, checking the group chat. It was her only source of information.

"Oh my god, there are only nine thousand people left…" she gasped. The user count was 9096/10000. Nearly a thousand people had died in just over an hour. She would have been one of them if Jason hadn't saved her. She felt immense gratitude.

Jason didn't check the chat; he was a reborn player, already knowing the information. He was considering getting Favor Points from Chloe. The surroundings were safe; he could work without interruption.

He turned to Chloe. "Beautiful, I rescued you. Time to pay the fare."

Chloe's face fell. She hastily closed the system. "I… I don't have any money… and money's useless here…"

Before she could continue, Jason looked at her with a smirk. She understood. Money was worthless here; he wanted something else.

Jason, seeing her comprehension, grabbed her and pulled her towards the bedroom. She resisted, but was no match for him.

"No! I don't like men! Let go of me!"

"You will."

One hour later…

Chloe's Favor Points +1

Chloe? That was her name. He remembered asking if she was a virgin, and her saying "Chloe." They’d both misunderstood. But she was a virgin.

He was frustrated, only gaining one Favor Point after an hour. It was useless.

He tried again.

Chloe's Favor Points +1

Chloe's Favor Points +1

After another hour, he stopped. Two hours of effort yielded only four Favor Points. He was exhausted, but it wasn't his fault. Chloe disliked him; that’s why it was so difficult.

He checked if he could exchange them for attribute orbs. He received four orbs the size of pigeon eggs.

[E-Rank Attribute Orb]: Enhances E-Rank attributes.

He wasn’t thrilled; one Favor Point equals one E-Rank orb. Ten points for a D-Rank, one hundred for a C-Rank, and so on, requiring thousands or tens of thousands later. He needed many Favor Points to become strong.

He had four attributes: Strength, Speed, Constitution, and Spirit. Each had six ranks (S, A, B, C, D, E), with three sub-ranks in each (E+, E, E-). He was at the lowest level (E-) in all attributes. Two orbs to reach E-Rank, four to reach E+, one D-Rank orb to reach D-.

The four E-Rank orbs were useless; he could trade them for supplies.

He opened the chat. Many people had found treasure chests and obtained resources. Some had already gotten two or three chests’ worth. Many were trading Escape Coins, food, and water.
