RV Target

"This time, I'm getting a vehicle. No way I'm missing out again."

Jason's gaze hardened. He slapped Sarah Jones across the face.

Slap!

"Ouch!" Sarah cried, clutching her cheek. She'd been checking the group chat and wasn't expecting that.

"Are you insane, Jason?!"

Sarah was furious. They'd been together since college, and this was the first time he'd hit her. He'd just broken up with her, and now this? Men were all trash.

“Jason Williams, you hit me! You pathetic loser, do you even know what you’ve done? Don't even think about getting back together with me! I'm not giving you another chance…”

Sarah hadn't realized they weren't in their old world anymore, maintaining her condescending attitude.

Ignoring her, Jason ran towards a nearby apartment complex. He quickly recalled details from his past life, remembering a specific vehicle: an RV. Its owner, David Lee, had used it to prey on young women. Jason's close friend, a girl he’d fallen for, had killed herself rather than be taken by David. Jason wanted revenge.

He remembered David bragging in the group chat about the RV being parked at the town square, in the city center. Getting there on foot was out of the question; it was too far. By the time he arrived, the monsters would be there, and David would already have it.

Jason needed a vehicle now to get to the square. He knew there wouldn't be any vehicles on the streets, aside from buses—the reason so many people crammed onto buses in the first place. Regular B, C, and D-class vehicles were hidden in apartment complexes, tucked away in corners. Only A-class vehicles were in underground garages, harder to find, requiring a trigger mechanism to access.

Jason headed straight for the nearest apartment complex. There would be vehicles, if not high-level ones.

Sarah was stunned, watching Jason run off. He hadn't even looked back. She was beyond furious.

“Jason Williams! Stop! Where are you going…?” she yelled, trying to get him to stop. But he was already far away, ignoring her.

Panic set in. She realized this world was dangerous and wanted Jason as protection. She couldn't let him get away.

Sarah reluctantly chased after him.

As Jason and Sarah ran into the complex, several others finished checking their systems and started searching for vehicles. They only had an hour before the monsters appeared. They needed to move fast.

"Hey, I saw two people run into that apartment building. Did they find something?"

Someone pointed towards the complex where Jason and Sarah had disappeared.

Intrigue surged. Had they found a vehicle? There were no vehicles around here; maybe there were some in there.

"Let's go check it out. If they have a vehicle, we can just hop in."

"Yeah, and if they're selfish, we'll take it."

The others didn't respond, but their thoughts were clear.

Meanwhile, Jason hadn't yet found a vehicle. It was a small complex, with only a few buildings; finding one shouldn’t take long. He searched the buildings, hoping to find something quickly.

Sarah caught up. "Jason Williams, what are you doing in this dump? We only have an hour until those monsters arrive! Let's find a bus!"

Sarah just wanted a bus. But she was afraid of being picked on. Jason, at 6'2", would be perfect as a bodyguard. A guy like Jason would even put himself in front of her if things got dangerous.

Jason fumed. She was still suggesting the bus? If he wasn't pressed for time, he'd slap her ten times at least.

Then, several more people ran into the complex. Everyone scrambled, desperate to secure a vehicle. Nobody knew how many vehicles there were, and whether there'd be enough for everyone. No one wanted to miss out.

“There’s gotta be a vehicle in here! Let’s find it before that guy grabs it all for himself.”
