17 - The Soldier and The Oracle

17 - The Soldier and The Oracle

"General Shriway, General Shriway!" A voice called out from afar.

A busy General Shriway was disturbed by the unknown voice. Alerted, she turned towards her direction as she turned her chair slowly.

"What? What is it..." Slightly surprised, she watched as a fellow soldier of hers ran towards her direction.

The soldier out of breath was heaving in loads of air just to suppress little oxygen.

"There, there, take a deep breath and a knee. After that, tell me." General Shriway shook her head, ready to hear whatever news was about to be given out.

"Okay..." *exhales slowly* "General Shriway, Ma'am... Echelon 1 has came up with a plan after doing a deep research into curing corrupteds from the warehouse. The soldier explained.

"What? They want to cure the corrupteds that was recently recovered, no way... I will allow that, I can't let them hurt themselves. " General Shriway got up in an outburst of anger.

"No, no ma'am , listen they found an alternate way. Not the multi-guardian user aura transferment method." The soldier explained , trying to stop her by reaching out with her arms without touching her in respect.

"Move it... I'm just going to take a peek. If they were to harm themselves, it's their responsibility."

Heading towards Echelon 1's dorm room, she noticed the door was open. The room however was empty. Only things that remained were the beds and the few duffel bags which contained the Echelon's clothing.

"Where the hell did they go?" General Shriway asks the soldier.

"Ma'am, they went to the labs where General Mia works in." The soldier replied.

"Wait, so General Mia have them permission without asking me for a request?" General Shriway asked gruesomely as she stomped her way through a slightly busy crowd of students and soldiers, heading to the East Wing.

Scanning her card and proving her own evidence, she passed through a mechanical gate and searched for Mia's. personal lab.

"Ma'am? Isn't General Mia also the same rank as you since your also a General?"

"Yes, she is, however, she is a general of another Wing, she can't just allow another Echelon from another wing to enter hers. " General Shriway finally found the lab door, as she opened it as fast as she could push, a bunch of dumbfounded faces were astonished to see General Shriway.

"Thank gosh Shriway your here, I have found a way we cou-" General Mia was about to explain her newest creation when she realised the temperature of the air was different.

"Mia! I told you to stop allowing anyone to enter the East Wing, it is dangerous, you know! You know we have classified works contained all around here, you can't just let anyone barge in unannouced.

Few of the Echelon 1 soldiers were frightened by the sudden shouting and slowly tried to excuse themselves.

"Hold it! Who told you, you could just leave!?" General made a evil smile towards them with her big open eye.

... Nothing, no replies, no buts or wells , nothing. Even the air stop ventilating properly. Nearby passing soldiers technically had their ears ruptured from the loud shotuings.

"Anyway, hughh~~... This is your first warning , please if you want to go to the East Wing, you need to request permission from me first. Tell me Mia, what is the biggest creation of dea that Echelon 1 has to offer?"  General Shriway shook her head from the light headed feeling she has currently.

"Uh hah?~" General Mia blink twiced before recalibrating her semi metallic brain.

"Oh yeah , few of our soldiers had made an idea of proposing a machine which could cleanse the corrupteds with a small dose of contained aura of a guardian user and mana of a guardian. This machine could be portable and worn as a clip-on for the side pockets. It could cleans one to three corrupteds while on the move without needing to strain the corrupteds longer while transporting to the Guardian Realms. Less work for the Transporters and the Guardian Elders to take care of. "General Mia explained.

"So what? Like a ... portable washing machine, the size of a wallet?" General Shriway asked in a confused manner.

Unauthorized use: this story is on Amazon without permission from the author. Report any sightings.

"Yeah, yeah something like that. Mr.Endicrite and Ms.Sandria (The tall soldier) thought of this idea after meeting one of the Higher Guardians during their promotion meeting in Headquarters."

"Oh, so they were shared information?" General Shriway was surprised by the sudden announcement.

"Yeah. HQ delivered us a few minutes ago this blueprints and a prototype the two made with the help of other scientists. " General Mia replied back with a exciting manner.

"Higher Guardians? You mean the Oracles, the ones who help the Elders in cleansing the crystals?" General Shriway asked.

"Yes, those Oracle's indeed. They also said in the letter that once the two returns, they will have a contained sample of the Oracles Mana but since we're human, we can't really see it. So we need help with one of our volunteering Guardian scientists. " General Mia explained as she picks up the prototype and shakes it Infront of Shriway's View to avert her gaze towards it.

"Alright, alright. Sorry girls for earlier, I was a little surprised when I heard you guys were here. Didn't realise this was partially an order from the HQ. " General Shriway smiled a little as she chuckled.

The soldiers lifted their soldiers as they looked at each other with a smirk in their face. (I guess their free this time...)

...

"Amazing! I didn't know that there are that many different variations of Guardians that exist." The tall soldier said as she stared at a huge scroll filled with magically translated writings of Guardian Species and Mixed Variations.

"Well, I guess you could learn a little bit more if you want." One of the Oracles were occupying Ms.Saradia in a separate room from William.

Meanwhile, William was made to watch slide after slide of a Guardian's and Human's mana-aura system. He didn't really manage to learn it in Continuum as he joined in late so most of this were rather new to him.

"Magic arts? Wait so some guardians could let you use abilities without needing a special weapon?"

"Nope, Cadet. This is what they call a Passive Hymn. It's when a Human's and Guardian's mana-aura wavelike is so similar that they technically correlate each others movements and thoughts. There is a special term for it called a Resonance, but you can only know more about this once you master your current abilities such as your weapon changing. " A Major from Manchester explained to him as she guided him through the slides.

The Oracles with permission from William's Guardians were using their own magic to inspect the two weapons that William usually carry, The Duo Handgun and The Psionic Blade.

In an unknown language the two oracle's spoke, their faces were quiet clear that they were curious and rather ecstatic on their find.

After some time, the weapons were turned back to their crystal form. Cleansed a little by one of the oracle, she slightly wraps the crystals into her white drape and handed it back to William.

"Here, Mr.Endicrite, your keys. I checked on your weapons and I could say, they were really interesting. They are really not your average guardian weapons. Well, what to expect from our highest, Shimaya and her daughters who built those weapons. She was a legend after all." The oracle said with a smile as lifted slowly her eye cover and winks at William. It was a sheet of metal drapped in jewellery and gold, I think.

(A legend? Did she save someone...? How old is she anyway. Wait wait, no bother.) "Why, thank you Miss.... Sorry I didn't get both of your names."

"My name's Erraine, hers is Youko. Sorry, she doesn't talk much."  Both of them bowed a little before walking away to the exit.

"We are leaving now Major, it's time to go." Erraine said as she opened a gate with the help of her eye over which shot out a beam of purple light towards the door frame, making a portal before disappearing as they left.

"Well, cheers then." The major said as she pushed back her baton back to a small stick. "I guess that's it for today. You and your friend will be transported in means time, for now, take a rest. Tea or coffee, anything you need?"

"Hmm, I guess Mint Tea will do , thank you." William answered.

"Cheers. See you in a bit." The major walked stiffly to the door before shutting it. It also sounded as if she locked it.

William tired, he rested his head on the peak of his armchair, though it was rather hard and painful, he had to bear the strains.

He got up and did a few light stretches before taking a walk around, looking through the window blinds of what was happening outside.

Nothing really. Just typical cars and people passing by.

The door to the other room was unlocked. The tall soldier, slight hunched to go trough the door headed to William with a smack to his back.

"Heyah Smallzie, what are you peeking at?" She spoke in a rather teasing manner.

"Can you stop calling me Smallzie? I'm not average height, only use that on Chau-Min, more reasonable." Williams looks at her with a annoyed look.

"Aww, come on. I'm just teasing, no need to be so grumpy. Fine, I will stop calling you Smallzie then, I will call you dog." She was being sarcastic, obviously.

"Whiskey Tango Foxtrot!?" William shouted. "Dog!? You want to call me dog, are you serious?" William was taking enough of the insult until it decided to go for Dog instead.

"Well...You do have lupines as your guardians right?" Ms.Saradia asked innocently.

"Well, Yes they are, thank you! You are so airheaded! You can't even differentiate a tease with an insult, come on man!" William shouted back to her.

"Please, could you please stop nicknaming everyone with dumb nicknames, you could just stick to codenames or initials, you know." William told her to finally stop her jibber jabber of nonsensical idiocity.

"Damn, fine. My apologies, didn't know you guys actually felt annoyed by it. I'm really sorry." She said as she picked her tooth which had enamel sticked onto it.

"It's fine, really. It's just that your nicknaming skills are kinda rude sometimes. It sounds funny but it doesn't really. "

Click.

The door unlocks. "Oh sorry, I couldn't get you Mint Tea, your transport vehicle is already here. Don't worry, I asked the driver to stop by a drive thru if she manages to stop by one."

"It's fine..." William nods to Miss Saradia. "Let's go."

"On it" she said.
