13 - Well, Let's call this rest day, for now.

It has been years since William died once. Ever since that catastrophe, Continuum's Base was ever built to its newest refinement. Ahh, how sweet. Due to demands of the ever few soldiers that disliked dorms. The Generals were kind enough to agree on themselves to build an extra few more personal bedrooms.

Kindly enough, there were too many personal bedrooms, so William had one of his own. Oh, how ecstatic was he. Now, he didn't need to worry about changing in front of the other echelon members without exposing himself.

Now, it is now the early times of a Saturday afternoon. William was sleeping soundly and peacefully on his new soft and comfy bed. Well, thinking he was at peace alone. Some critter decided to sniffle onto his face.

Its weight was quite undeniably close to human and the heavy draping only made it heavier. The critter's topside was rather soft like pillows, pushing onto William's chest in return, the feeling of warmth and safety.

The sniffling only grew louder and rather ear-piercing. It sounded a bit of an annoyance now.

William getting worked up out of adrenaline, he woke up in a mist of the critter's sniffling. Only causing his forehead to hit it in return.

"Oww~!" A sound squeaked from the measly critter's mouth.

"What the hell?!" William shouted as he rubbed his now aching forehead. He felt as if he got personally attacked. "Who are you? What are you doing here?"

He scolded the critter who was now more of a silhouette of a feminine figure.

"I am sorry! I didn't mean to disturb your sleep. I was just.... curious." The voice squeaked again fro the silhouette's direction.

Opening the curtains, William turned quickly to the figure's direction again.

A maidenly figure was revealed. Animal-like ears on her small shrill of hair and a tail that wandered to and fro. No doubt, it was a guardian.

"A guardian?!" William asked himself as he shook his head.

"Why yes!? I am a guardian. My name is Shin-ae, The younger daughter of The Elder of the Beast." She replied in an ecstatic and childish manner, just revealing herself of her high worthy title.

"Younger daughter of the beast elder?... Wait, you are...Sae-Yong's younger sister?"He asked in a rather confused manner.

Being half-naked and rather chilled from the cold air, he got up and quickly puts on his top in front of the maiden, with no feeling of immorality.

"Eem.~ Yeah! I am Shin-ae, The younger sister of Sae-Yong. Nice to meet you." The guardian introduced herself once more before landing on her feet and commencing to a bow.

"Oh, nice to meet you then," William said as he handed his hand to her for a shake.

Shin-ae smiled in a shy way and accepted the male's shake, feeling his warmth rough hands which held wounds, blood, and dirt.

As he switched on his room's light, a circle door was summoned out of nowhere. It glowed purple and it slid open, letting out a bright light. A foot came out of the door, a clang of wooden slippers, interesting.

"William, is my sister annoying you?" She asked as she pulled her sister's ear as punishment.

"Oww oww..." Shin-ae said in the background.

"A little..." He accompanied the reply with a small hand gesture.

"Damn, Shin-ae, I told you I will introduce you to him formally yet you had to go on being a curious critter of a cat, huh?" Sae-Yong scolded Shin-ae in a very calm way.

"I am sorry, I wouldn't do it again." She looked like she was about to cry. Her tail stopped wiggling and her ears slowly drooped.

"Ugh~ Sae-Yong enough, she had already technically introduced herself. Just spare her." William said a little annoyed about his early afternoon of rest.

"Eh, fine," Sae-Yong said as she excused herself to take a glass of water from William's bar fridge. She was used to staying with William for a while. Usually just to refill each other's mana by means of being in close proximity.

William excusing himself to prepare himself with a morning shave and teeth brush, he puts on his usual casual attire of a hoodie and jeans on.

He snacked on a banana from a comb of it that he purchased a few days ago and drank a glass of old milk. It tasted rather sour but eh, what gives.

He took a seat on his bed after pulling out two wooden chairs that were part of his dining table set. Shin-ae sat in front of William's sight. Curious and confused, her ears and tail were rather twitchy as her nose kept sniffling once again.

"Are you going to stop making that sound from your nose, sorry for asking rudely." He asked as he crossed his arm with a smile. He didn't want to look threatening at all.

If you spot this narrative on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.

"I am sorry, its a habit. My nose always does that when I am nervous." With her head low, her ears dropped too.

"It is alright. Chill, Ms.Shin-ae, I am not trying to make you feel bad. It's bad to not smile you know." He replied with a smile, confirming that he was now calmer, understanding her odd nature.

"Now, then let's start from the beginning, shall we? Please, Ms.Shin-ae, could you introduce yourself once again?" William asked, gesturing his hand to be open towards her.

Shin-ae started to smile, her tail started to wiggle again. "Sure!" She squeaked.

"So you are Shin-ae The younger sister of Sae-Yong and the daughter of the lady of the beast, Shimaya, yes?" He asked.

Shin-ae Nods vigorously. "Yes!." She replied.

"So, that means you are a vulpine weapon guardian." as he said that, he shook his head.

"Yes!" She replied again.

"And your weapon is a duplex pistol." He asked with a smirk.

"Yes!" She loved replying yes constantly, I guess.

"To be honest? Could you teach me how to use it ?" He sighed out.

"I am really having trouble on how to convert it to different guns and use its different types of ammo like how your sister said it could. Could you teach me?" He asked politely as possible.

Shin-ae's ears went straight in alertness as her tails started wiggling ferociously. I guess she was excited. "Sure! Shin-ae will teach you how to use my gun !" She replied.

"Thank you !" William said. "Sae-Yong, you could also teach me how to size the blade and the choosing or which to melt."

Sae-Yong winked as she gave a smile. She crossed her arms and crossed her legs too. I guess it was her way of being curious. Cool and calm.

...

In the military training grounds, a guardian employed trainer was kind enough to activate an alternate pocket dimension for William and the other two to train in.

The trainer was also kind enough to make physical dummies which could clone and facilitate in different types of commands such as stop, walk, run or attack and etc.

William wore his usual military operation uniform to feel like he was in a real operation. He needed the weight to feel like it was the real deal. He needed to feel the stiffness of the ballistic vest so he could know his movement patterns if he was in an actual fight.

Shin-ae, not willing to get her clothes muddy followed Sae-Yong's style in wearing special training uniform, hosting a white loose shirt with shorts on. As per she is more of a gunslinger, she needed the looseness of being able to sway her arms and legs gracefully.

"Alright, so master must hold his hands dumbly like this, just like a real gun. Instead of typical pointing finger usage, you have to use your middle finger and your ring finger to admit both the triggers." She explained.

"I see..." He was surprised that she called him master, but, it didn't worry him as it could probably just be a nickname.

"Also, do not shoot only with one side. You have to commit to shooting both unless you are shooting vertical which would probably mean using your normal gun usage. Because, if you use one side, the recoil might hurt your hand as this gun is fused with aegis mana." She warned subtly.

"Ah, that makes sense. I will keep that in mind. Thank you." William replied.

"But how do I change its form or change its ammo type?" William asked.

"Well, it's an odd mechanism I made but you have to actually verbally say it loud or you could whisper it that the gun could actually "hear" it. Hehehe~" Shin-ae giggled softly as her mechanism was rather odd as she stated.

"Ohh... So, If I say Sniper Rifle, it would change?" As he said that looking at Shin-ae's view, the gun actually transformed. He didn't notice it, however, because the gun always keeps the same weight whatever the size of the gun formed.

"Ugh...Master, you should take a look at the gun now, something magical happened." She was teasing her "master".

"Hmm?." William looks at his left hand where he usually holds Shin-ae's gun.

Amazed, he was in awe. "Damn, I could say this is some cool quality weapon. So that means if I were to be in a tight situation, I could trick my opponents that I'm using a weaker gun then transform it to a higher tier weapon like a shotgun or something." He said.

"Yeah, you could do that! That was the reason I made my gun like that. So when I perform my Tanzen Arts, I could use it simultaneously with my weapon of choice." Shin-ae replied, her eyes glittered with excitement and curiosity.

"Tanzen? What's that?" William asked both Shin-ae and Sae-Yong.

"Tanzen is a martial art that my mom made. It's mostly just usage of mixed martial arts that already exist in different schools but it is done in an elegant dancing way, hence Tanzen which means Dance in human language aka German." Shin-ae replied as she summoned and inspected her blade.

"I also use it sometimes... But I prefer the Kashima Shinden Jikishinkage style. It's versatile and agile enough. My father taught me that, before ... Ugh, that happened." Sae-Yong explained.

"Your father? Was he a guardian?" William asked as if he was distracted from the original answer.

"Ugh No, it's nothing. And no, he wasn't a Guardian, he was human like you." Sae-Yong replied.

(So, I guess her father perished in The Happening too then. Wait, human!? That means humans had contact with guardians before they were ever discovered?) William thought in his head, he was in deep thought.

"Hey hello, don't go dazing out of space, silly." Sae-Yong started snapping her fingers Infront of William's face as he was out of his daze. "If you want to know more about Guardians, you could just ask after training." She said with a smile.

"Oh yeah, I forgot. Alright then." William chuckled as he started to test out the instructions given by both of them.

"So, to adjust the blade, I just have to stare at it as guess a length I want in my head?" He asked Sae-Yong, after shooting down some dummies with Shin-ae's shape-shifting gun.

"Well, Yep. That's how you do it." Sae-Yong answered as she showed him with her own copy of the weapon which looked more prestiged. I guess the original user gets its own decorative theme.

After a while of gunning and slashing practices, the three had a break. They snacked on guardian made food by yours truly, Lady Shimaya.

Ahhh, what a day is this chap enjoying a day with his fellow guardians. I wonder however, will it always be like this. Well, no bother, they seem to be having fun. Let's leave them to it.

"Hey! Could you shut up!? I'm trying to take a rest here!" William shouted towards the narrator as this page was flipped to an empty fill.
